Mental Health I get crazy after taking promethazine

I take 75 mg at night for sleep, won't sleep without it.

Reliably after dosing it, I basically feel psychotic like stomping some folks face in.

Not any folk - scumbags.
There's some scumbags around my area the police allow walk the street with impunity.

I fantasize about hurting them terribly, and always reliably after dosing prometh.

It makes me legit crazy.

A couple months ago one scum bag tried to homo-sexually harass me, I almost KO'd him right there in the street.

As soon as he sensed my willingness to engage him violently he actually ran off, but I'm concerned that a situation may result in a violence coming to fruition.

At the moment, I stay locked in my apartment, country is on lock down currently anyways, probably for the best.

And go out once a week for groceries, early - to avoid people.

I tried to substitute prometh for something else that would help sleep, but not make me crazy - but nothing else worked.

Sucks.

@JohnBoy2000 have you tried diphenhydramine? You can get it otc cheap, its very similar to prometh.

Although, your desire to stomp that guy who tried to harass you seems pretty normal to me, jus sayin.

I'd heard of that before as an anti-histamine, but can't find it listed without some other ingredient like paracetamol.

Prometh has a bunch of other affects as a mild dopamine blocker, ACh blocker etc.

I'd love to try something with similar same anti-histamine effect for somnolence, but cleaner, only that.

Its not a controlled drug so I guess I can tell you where to get it without breaking sourcing rules. Of course you'll have to be over 18.
Its marketed under the brand name Nytol, in 25mg(2 a night) and 50mg(1 a night) tablete. Available in most pharmacies for about £6-7 for 20 x 50mg.
But fuck buying Nytol...
Most pharmacies will also sell their own brand, usually called 'sleep aids' (tesco, numark) 'sleepeeze' (boots) for about £4 for 20 x 50mg. With Nytol you're literally paying for the label. Just ask for sleep aids at the counter.
They will ask if you're on any other medication, if they're for yourself, and if you've ever user them before. I usually say my doctor recommended me to get them. They will tell you they're only for temporary use.
The same pharmacist won't sell you a box a fortnight, sometimes even more if they're jobsworthy, you'll have to shop around if you want more than that.

What dose did you use in comparison to promethazine?
Normally I take 75 mg prometh.
Fingers crossed it works cause, prometh and the crazy was becoming a real bummer.

It does have binding to other receptors but, not super strong.

Not sure how it compares to promethazine in terms of being "dirty", as such.

If you are sensible with the dose it doesn't feel dirty at all. I feel fresh in the mornings after a DPH sleep. And sometimes i even like to take a few doses and stay out of bed until it kicks in because i like the feeling of getting heavy and waiting for my vision to start blurring.

Dont ever
take more than 200-250mg because then it does feel pretty dirty, and you will get strong paradoxical sleep aid effects, and start to have fucking WEIRD hallucinations, extreme dry mouth and delirium.

@JohnBoy2000 if you are used to 75mg prometh then I'd start on 50mg DPH(diphenhydramine) - if that doesnt work for you, try 75-100mg. I usually take 100-150mg for a good sleep but I am fairly tolerant to it.

Cheers; prometh tmax is 4 hours, usually takes about 3 to start making me sleepy.

Nytol tmax is 3 hours - how long after taking it do you find yourself getting sleepy?

Zopi and mirtaz are worse hangovers imo, you'll be fine

Why don’t you explain to your dr about the side effects you’re getting and see if there’s an alternative. And for me diphenhydramine is really horrid. I feel super icky after it.

EDIT: No idea why this occurs or if it was a recent change vs always like that. Try toggling the [ ] at the top right of of the reply box, look at the code version of your test and see if there is anything wonky going on. If I said I'd try it out a bit and see what I can find, I'd be telling the truth....but I likely won't get to it anytime soon (ie, weeks...certainly long enough to forget about it).

Na, i just always drink pepsi max, or cider. Id guess if you dropped a pill in a glass of soda and a glass of water, it would dissolve faster in the soda right?
Not sure if drinking pepsi makes any difference to your stomach acid contents, prob not tbf, might help the pill start dissolving for 1 second its swimming in it in your mouth/throat though
Maybe with a warm drink might help it kick in faster, no idea. I'm sure empty stomach would help tho.

I tried 100 diphenh before to no affect.

So tried 200 mg just now.

I think I'm actually catching a buzz from this, about 1.5 hours since dosing.

It's also possible it's just displaced the horrid promethazine and that is where the positive feeling is coming from.

I guess I'll find out in a few hours whether it will make a good hypnotic or no.

PS - this diphen buzz is extremely pleasant, I feel slightly delerious.
