This is the essence of it all. Government isn't making the rules, they are just enforcing them. Companies like Google, Apple, Facebook, Exxon, Bayer, Goldman Sachs...have more money than most of worlds countries. Money equals power and companies are electing their representatives to serve them. USA elections, like any other elections are bought by the companies that "donate" campaign money. I won't go into the nature of this companies as I believe that their nature is "profit by any means necessary". Also I dont think anything can be resolved by revolution/uprising because the ones who govern know the dynamics of that process and will again end on top. In my view better world can be accomplished only by the force of individuals who live their lives in a way that actually makes a world a better place. That means boycotting any company that is doing things you oppose, as we are voting with our money. It also means acting in accordance to ones true beliefs even if it opposes some law or can get you fired. This kind of things can seem drastic but compare them with revolution and warfare and it doesn't seem so radical. This is not a very popular message but it is the only way I see how things can change. Problem is one of game theory because nobody can guarantee that things will turn for the better even if you risk your job trying to do the right thing as no-one knows how many people just say that they want a better world but by that they mean "better world for me". It is a conundrum but acting the way you feel is right and not in a way that will get you the most (money, status, security) , is in my view the best bet for a fair society. I'm done with my rant.
