I was just talking to my girlfriend about this today while we were hiking (hiking always makes me want to talk about the state of the world and humanity). With how we handled this virus, I am going to be really scared if an actually substantially deadly virus with more than a half a percent fatality rate comes through. We're going to have hordes of angry people shouting about unconstitutional mask mandates even as they drop like flies.

There is no "if". It will happen. The only question is when.

I really do hope something takes billions out and leaves the Earth with a chance. A virus seems cruel, a meteor, a war or volcano eruption would be more ethical IMO if I had personal control over it.

If it gets me, I don't care, I've lived a good life, have achieved nirvana more times than I can count, and don't believe in a "forever death" the major world religions do out of a subconscious suppression that life is suffering.

The USA never locked down. Americans like to whine as if we had, but in fact there was very little enforcement. State borders were not closed. In my town we still got a flood of Fall tourists like every year. During the original NYC outbreak, we had tons of New Yorkers come through, more than usual. You go into the grocery store and like half the people aren't wearing masks (much less than that in many places). In the Dakotas, everyone is still talking about how the virus is a hoax, even as they are facing a massive outbreak. We pretended to lock down and a bunch of loud people outraged at having to pretend to lock down made a lot of noise about how horribly our rights were being violated.

You can't use the USA as an example of lockdowns not working.

Well, the UK may stand as a pretty good comparative example of how even the strictest lockdowns do not work, or at the most- barely work!

Shit is really kicking off here now. I know you have massive unrest in the US, with riots, violent protests and clash-offs between extremist groups.

But here is UK, under our noses and almost overnight, we are suddenly in a strictly, no free-speech Police state. The Police are just blidly and aggressively enforcing any which "rule" or terms that they are directed to, without question, without even knowing WHERE those strict new unconstitutional orders are ultimately coming from, and driven towards.

The entire country and economy, plus the mental and emotional health of the majority of healthy adults, and especially the sick in need of treatment etc, and mentally unwell already, in rapid dramatic fashion.

Industries are collapsing. Many thousands jobs lost already in multiple sectors.

It is incredibly incredible disruptive.

It is also clear that the Government is strangely obsolete in this process. The PM is currently in hiding. And no question he just reads a script under tight puppet control and no more.

We have locked down hard as hell, months on end. Guess what- never enough.

Even stricter measures needed, in a very threatening sense.

Honestly - it is simply too frightening for people to accept.
Even when the evidence is right in front of our faces.

There actually being a global cabal pressuring nations to enact these control measures - and after someone has been ridiculing the idea of "covert global goverment" for years, it's not easy to all of a sudden accept that they were wrong and that this is actually happening.

Well it's fucking happening. So the quicker you all wake up, get over your egos, accept what is going on and actively resist it -the quicker we will go back to normal. Because otherwise, if we all just do what the government says and accept all the new rules, then we will be entering a new world that you will not enjoy.

I know this is utterly pointless to say.... But viruses are not able to be made selectively more dangerous because of microwaves.

It's just one stupid conspiracy being linked into another to form a super conspiracy.

These are the same people who originally said 5g caused the virus, now 5g super charges it. It was impossible the first time, it's impossible now and it'll be just as incorrect. And then they'll adjust the conspiracy again.

Because conspiracies are never wrong, they just incorporate their wrongness into a modified conspriacy.

Which is how you know conspiracies aren't true, because with truth you can make estimations about the future. With nonsense you can't. Garbage in garbage out.

Here's my prediction for the next 2 years.

The vaccines release. They're effective. Death rates plummet, world returns to pretty close to what it was before covid (some changes are permanent, the ones conspiracy theorists worry about aren't). The borders will roepen, free movement will return, mask requirements will disappear.

Conspiracy theorists will pretend they never said anything they said today, and most of them will believe that's truthful because they just slowly followed the same morphing conspiracy never realizing how wrong it was.

Most likely they will come up with some explanation for why the nebulous "elite" failed this time and that they'll succeed next time, or even more likely that this time was just a test to see how people would react and that a vaccine was part of the plan.

You're too late, my ex BF already inflicted this guy on me earlier this week.

And I'll say what I said to him.

This guy has already made a prediction, that the pandemic in the UK was completely over and herd immunity had been achieved, weeks ago. And infections have skyrocketed since then. And that's just one of several falsifiable arguments he's made that have since been falsified. All he has to say as I recall is "oh its all false positive testing! ". Which doesn't hold up with hospitalizations and other stats.

As I recall he's not an expert in virology. His background as I recall is in chemistry.

And that even if you consider him an expert, there are thousands of others with far better qualifications who say what he's saying is crap.

Except of course the conspiracy theorist hates scientific consensus, once there's consensus that's "the elite". Powerful billionaire... Research scientists one presumes? (except for powerful billionaires like president trump, for some reason he's not the elite)
