Unlikely. Once power is gone, it’s gone. His son is an ass. (Both of them.) I’d like to think people just humor the Trump kids because of who their daddy is, and that once he’s out they are out.
Maybe it’s wistful thinking, but my hope is that Trump’s cult of personality ends with his presidency, or at least that the presidency is the apex of his influence.
Plus I hope he’s prosecuted to the hilt for all of his corruption and malfeasance.
Yeah disgraceful, I don't get it from Trump, he should know it's over and it I think it's only hurting his '''stock''''.Once again, I can't believe what a percentage of the population is totally ignoring the president's attempts to throw out a bunch of the votes cast by American citizens. We always have mail-in ballots and they're always counted, it's just how it is. Yes, there are more thing time. So what? To throw away uncounted votes is straight up some authoritarian stuff. Fortunately we're not so gone as a society where that attempt actually worked, but we have a president who is trying to do it. So far it's been radio silence on that issue from Trump supporters. Can't imagine they would be silent about Biden doing that, or Obama. Why is it okay if Trump does it?
How are people with other opinions an 'existential threat to democracy'?I fear is it wishful thinking.
While it'd be nice to get rid of trump, the cause of his rise to power hasn't been resolved. And it remains an existential threat to American democracy.

Like every republican voter is some evil, stupid man as they seem to be portrayed like in the media. I feel like your comment is regarding voters.... I've voted left all my life, but comments like this irk me, it's so much part of the reason why right wing and nationalist parties are growing all over the world, so arrogant.

Lol, they didn't all vote for Trump doing this, the reasons they voted could be wildly different, and some of them even legit, even though it was quite obvious that a reelection wouldn't have been a good thing for America. I am not American, I know few Americans, but if I know anything about America it's that they hold the constitution above all, and I agree that it's beautiful in principle. I mostly think that Trump voters don't see what he's doing as that undemocratic, probably a mix between blind belief and social media founded delusions. Are you kidding?
If nearly a majority of a society hold opinions that are undemocratic... How can that not be a danger to democracy?
If a large proportion of a society comes to hold the kind of nationalistic views that brought fascists to power throughout history, that's a danger to democracy.
We have a president who openly states he wants to stop all vote counting past election night, in spite of that going against how the system has always worked in the past. Who declares himself the winner on his own authority. Who deliberately tries to prevent early counting of mailed votes specifically so he can call them "illegal votes" later on.
These are all disgusting perversions of democracy and the American democratic system. And enough Americans don't care that he has almost been reelected.
That's a severe danger to the future of America as we know it.
And no, not every republican voter is part of the problem. There are many Republicans who see how trump has hijacked their party and perverted it to his own ends. There are also trump voters who genuinely don't realize the danger for whatever reason.
But yeah, a lot of trump voters are essentially traitors who have put a cult of personality ahead of their countries interests.
Trumpists are the problem. Not Republicans. I feel really bad for true Republicans. The ones who really believed in the conservative belief system the republican party used to represent. Cause they've basically had their whole party taken away and been left to vote either third party, which is useless. Or votes democratic, which doesn't represent them.

Yes what Trump is doing/did is disgraceful, many agree, but he isn't above the law, and let me tell you how it's gonna go: he's gonna make every appeal he's got, swing some arms around, and eventually he'll be told to fuck off by the Supreme Court and he'll be swept aside, and regular political life can continue. I'll come back to this when it eventually happensThe the end of democracy stuff is so ridiculous man, Trump has got nothing to stand on, literally nothing, it'll never stand apart from with some hardcore trumpists.
Trumpist are a phase, created out of frustration by politicians and condescending behavior by media and people, I agree that they're misguided but I don't get how you don't get that what you're essentially calling half of the American population is sooo arrogant and counterproductive. Maybe look at how it ever got so far in the far in the first place and do something about it, and I guarantee that rhetoric like yours is a part of it.
In my country people have been laughing at nationalist parties and voters for as long as I live, not giving them space on TV, reporting biased on them, treating them like a joke, and every election we're so surprised that this 'fascist group' has grown by so much. But it's way too late for America, it seems politics are a part of everybodies identity now --> think the same as I do or gtfo.. I hope it never gets that far where I live.
Exactly. Remember the 8 years the GOP spent screaming about executive overreach, presidential tyranny, and fiscal responsibility?!? It never ceases to amaze me just how unprincipled and hypocritical the GOP really is...Once again, I can't believe what a percentage of the population is totally ignoring the president's attempts to throw out a bunch of the votes cast by American citizens. Biden was definitely not my preferred candidate by a large margin. I was an avid Warren supporter and volunteer. I would have ended up supporting whoever the democratic though, Trump is just such an astonishing fuck up in almost every possible way and needs to get out of power before he does more serious damage to the country. As a non-American, I find it astonishing that the democratic party couldn't find a better candidate than Biden. There are more than 325 million people in the country and the democrats chose a guy with dementia?
Don't get me wrong. I don't like Trump either. Both candidates are awful.
I understand voting for Biden because he's not Trump, but there should be more reasons to vote for a president other than voting for someone else.
The Trump administration fucked up and it directly resulted in the deaths of 200,000 people. But, Biden called him a racist for stopping flights from China early on...
^Yeah, like I said, I get that. I feel sorry for you guys.
At least you won't have to put up with Trump until he runs again in 2024.![]()
