Went to the theaters with my best friend when he visited last week, saw Tenet.

It might have been a good film... I can't say. Chris Nolan has kinda lost his stride in recent years. Anyways, I was on a cocktail of phenibut, O-DSMT, etizolam, and THC when I saw it, so about 30 minutes in I passed the fuck out hard and only woke up for explosive fight scenes... so I have no idea what the film was about. My sober friend said I didn't miss much lol. So I guess, 3/10 on 'keeping me awake during a hard nod' standards.
 
Benny's Video - 4 stars - Directed by Michael Haneke, who also directed Funny Games (1997 in German and 2007 in English) and Surveillance (2002). It is one of those movie's where you're really better of going in not knowing the plot. I really enjoyed it, although the are a couple of boring scenes that really drag on (like that 15 minute wide-shot of the parents hobbling around the room doing fuck-all in Funny Games). Overall, a good movie but a minor warning that there is one scene in particular that personally didn't bother me at all but going from reviews seemed to be disturbing to most people. And this scene of violence is also VERY realistic looking, as is the aftermath.

I rewatched I Spit on Your Grave 2 (2013) - 5 tortured rapists- Part of the reason I rated this 5 stars (out of 5) is because it more than succeeds in achieving what it set out to do: i.e. It is both very disturbing and also depressing. Every time I watch this (3 times since 2013, I don't watch it on a regular basis lol) I feel depressed and despair for the state of humanity because although this movie is fiction, the violent rape, torture and human trafficking are not. The first time I almost didn't finish this because while Jennifer certainly suffers in the first movie, Katie's suffering is worse and it literally goes on for FIFTY MINUTES. Thank God the revenge she gets is so satisfying. I don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it, but if you've seen I Spit on Your Grave (2010) you know what you're in for (but, serious, worse).

I won't begrudge them the animal torture, it's all they had back then and by the standards of the time it was more acceptable. Certainly not with today's standards, but I feel such things must be judged by what they knew and did back in the day, not today. Also, I ALWAYS have it confused in my head with Cannibal Ferox, as those are the only two I saw and I can't keep them distinct in my memory. I may need to go back and watch them again, see if I can separate them. Also somewhat liked Welcome to the Jungle (2007).

LOVED the 1997 Funny Games, was disappointed with the 2007 remake, had no idea it was the same director and assumed it was an American rip off. If Benny and Surveillance (not heard of either) are in the same theme I may have to go check them out. Any recommendation on which one first?

I thought I'd seen all of these, including the 1978 original. May have to go back. Honestly, though, I have a lot of issue with the rape scenes, and am mostly looking for the revenge porn but more times than not come away disappointed.

I understand what you're saying, but it was 1980, not 30,000 B.C. There is no way most people would think torturing an animal is okay.
I think all of those cannibal movie that came out un the 70's and early 80's are very similar and I get them all mixed up in my head, too.

I'd definitely recommend Benny's Video if you enjoyed Funny Games. The stories are nothing alike but the themes and the feel of the two feel similar.

I Spit on Your Grave 2 is VERY satisfying revenge porn. This gal makes even Jennifer Hills look merciful. If you can get through all the rape and other awful things that happen to Katie (which does literally last almost 50 minutes..I myself just about turned it off because I felt they were showing just way too much footage of the rape etc, almost as though it is aimed at pleasing sadists and rapists) her vengeance is VERY brutal and I like the sort-of-ironic ways she kills them based on what they did to her. IMO it is worth sitting through all the rape/torture scenes. Maybe fast-forward through the rapey bits. You won't miss anything important.
 
Honestly dark knight wasn't that interesting at all, it might won the heart of millions of people but there's also people who are different and that's me, yonowhamasayin yamaha and then u stay on one toe. Fuck, sorry anyway I didn't enjoy it -- in a short-film it could work. I mean, you got a painted guy and one with a mask running around blowing police stations, so I don't you know.
 
Sitcom (1998) - 4 stars - Not sure if this is a French or German movie as I'm pretty sure It's French but most of the dialogue - particular in the beginning - is in German. Either way, I watched with English subtitles. I've seen this on "Disturbing lists" but it absolutely is not. Even IMDb lists it as "Comedy, Drama, Romance" - I very much enjoyed it, though. It was just fun and a joy to watch. I've stated on here many times that I'll almost always be talking online or taking breaks to read a chapter of my books every 20-30 ins while watching a movie. In this case the subtitles initially force my concentration and then it naturally kept my attention and enjoyment throughout. If anybody knows similar movies (such as by the same director) please let me know.

''Tenet'', from all over the internet people went mad with the sentence ''You don't need to understand, you need to feel it'', it's a quote from the movie and it almost has 8 on IMDb. So you have Star Trak meets planet Earth, russians in leather jackets those couldn't be missed and the cherry on top ''Michael Caine''. What the fuck..
 


I had no idea they made a movie out of this book. I was surprised so I watched it.

It was really boring IMO. Most of the parts of the book I remember reading were not in the movie, or were very subtle due to the lack of a narrator. The whole movie just felt "empty". Poor acting by the main character IMO combined with empty supportive character portrayals. I did not FEEL like he was in rehab or on deaths door. Overall just a poor depiction of the book. I guess books are usually better anyways, especially when they're about something as personal as addiction.
 


This was an interesting, rather depressing and sad movie. Kinda seemed like a meditation on morality and to a much lesser extent God. Mostly a fucked up movie about evil and violence onto others. It's OK. Decent acting. Lots of forced, awkward southern accents.

It wasn't the worst movie in recent history. It's a good movie to zone out watching while you wait to take another alprazolam. Basically, the movie is what one might expect if a sociopath got their own set of optical camouflage. The visual effects start out very subtly though they rapidly become more prominent. The whole movie had an almost delirious feel to it.

I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) the other day on a heavy psilacetin/3-ho-pce trip. I've seen it before but this time I became more solidly invested in it, noticing things I didn't notice the first time. It's an absolute gem of a film. I'd watched Being John Malkovich twice recently, and I think ESotSM was a lot better; not funnier, but deeper.

I really love these two Charlie Kaufman films though guys. I'd give them both a 10/10 rating and say everyone should see both before they die.

Quite rare film with a somewhat shocking theme (incest) but I feel that the director did not know what direction to give to her film; sometimes it's a drama, a black comedy or definitely a thriller. Anyway, I found it very entertaining. And when I was a kid, I always had a thing for Elisha Cuthbert and Camila Belle 💕 so I´m very happy with that hahaha. 7/10
 
The Devil All The Time... I was high the first time I tried to watch it and realized it was too macabre but now I’m sober I watched the end and holy shot there was some fly acting! Reminded me of that other movie... I think had the name of a year like 1929 or something... but this one was much more positive!! Actually liked it in the end. 3.5/5
 
This Scorsese joint from 1978.

A former tour manager for Neil Diamond, and apparently former heroin user, interviewed about.. heroin and touring with Neil Diamond, amongst other things.

His stories are interesting, possibly bullshit, but interesting.
 
Angst (1982) - 3 stars - This "disturbing" movie follows a man who experience bouts of intense anxiety that are only relieved by murder. The first several minutes acts like a documentary telling his story from his birth to when he went to prison. The rest of the movie starts with him being released ten years later. Although he is diagnosed as a psychopath and therefore NOT mentally ill which is why he was in prison, not a psychiatric facility the movie - while it does certainly depict him as a psychopaths - displays a pretty accurate depiction of a man suffering from a severely dysphoric psychosis. He ends up breaking into a house and killing the family that live there. There's actually not much more to it. There are a LOT of scenes of him aimlessly walking around. It was okay but in no way would I describe this as disturbing.
 
I watched "Possessor" (2020) today and thought it was kind of interesting. It was sort of an eerie/surreal movie that kept you feeling off balance with quiet moments punctuated by pure gore. It feels like an artsy sci-fi slasher film in a way... It was fairly original in my opinion and I can't think of a film quite like it. There are parts that drag on a bit though and then there are parts that kind of leave you gasping in shock. Definitely not a movie for the squeamish. Overall, I'll give it a 6.5/10.
