Person I know that I would like to remain anonymous, so will therefore refer to as John, has been on cocaine/adderal for the past 20+ years. Started with cocaine for 5-7 yrs and then switched to adderal for the remaining 13 thinking that adderal was not as harmful after a couple brushes with death thanks to cocaine. John just traded one for the other.

John's use is essentially a one time per every 30 day binge in which user takes close to 20 max strength pills (thanks to tolerance) without sleep for 2+ days. I have been telling John this is insane and that John needs to stay within a 24 hour period, and only use 5 pills at tops which implies that John needs to completely lose the long term tolerance. John has been unable to stop for long enough to ever lose the tolerance since John started with uppers 20 yrs ago.

John is very lucky to be alive as this has almost cost John's life more than twice. The issue is out of hand. Cannot maintain a once per 30 day use pattern regimen which is what according the John is the solution to avoid any issues with the substance. I disagree since hard drugs are extremely degenerative but John insists there will be no issues. I have been trying to help for very long time. John is also a chronic cannabis user however this is not the focus of this discussion.

I am here today to ask the forums; what are the best proven methods from experience to make sure this 20 yr problem does not end the user's existence?

We have established a plan which is to take him to Ibogaine treatment for cravings removal, and then make sure John understands various forms of meditation so John can deal with the psychological dependence aspects. John will hopefully be attending buddhist meditation, ayahuasca retreats, and attempt to read about NLP and anything that can help with the issue. Any ideas?

Issue at heart is that John just loves the adderal experience too much. John needs an adderal replacement that is not as harmful that provides a similar experience to uppers; something along the lines of the reduced harmfulness of substances like marijuana/kratom however that is an upper replacement instead of a downer type substance like mj and kratom. Thought about ephedra tea however its got some scary side effects. Something for this case of the sorts available? John sais the most important aspect John enjoys is 1) the physical tingliness/aphrodisiac qualities achieved with strong dosages and 2) the insightful creative mental state experience. So we need to find safe chemical replacements for those 2 things that are not as harmful for those aspects and also find the best meditation/mental strategy/proven techniques for hard drugs out there so John can kick adderal altogether. What are your thoughts?

If anyone has gone through something similar, please share your insights as John really needs the best out there to beat this issue.

Since, John is also a training martial artist, we fear John needs to stop or John's heart will explode from the workout in the future. So that's one issue that for sure John will experience. Anyone know from experience any other negative long term effects from adderal that John might not be aware of? John fainted in front of me less than a month ago out of nowhere just fell to the floor and didn't break his head out of luck. Seems John lost his balance/coordination and just spaced out; I assumed it to be a consciousness lapse due to adderal amp use for so long. Second time John just falls down in front of me like this. John was on it at the moment but it seemed like a long term negative effect. Thanks for reading I am trying to save John's life because I know that there will be issues if no adequate action is taken.

For those who will say "please seek help"; thanks however please make sure you offer proven solutions from personal experience or real world solutions that you have seen work effectively for this and be specific about your evidence based solutions if possible.

As Shady's Fox said, we do not use SWIM here, we all know it's you.

Secondly, this kinda verges on a "what should I take" thread which I believe isn't in line with our rules, so as Shady said go over the rules a little bit and you'll have better responses to your questions.

As far as I know, adderall is going to be easier on your cardiovascular system than daily cocaine use, so that calculation was correct, but you can still abuse adderall and it can still leave you feeling faint and light headed. I was prescribed Adderall for a few years, and would get bad head rushes pretty regularly. These didn't really cease until I stopped taking Adderall dailly.

I haven't totally overcome my stimulant addiction by any means, but there are a few things that have helped make my life a little more bearable. Included are spirituality, rehab, 12 step groups, amino acid supplements, regular hydration and rest, tolerance breaks, hiking/exercise, and simply abstinence from the substance. If you truly believe that this habit could lead to your demise, than I would definitely look into getting into a 30 day program. Your brain and body needs a break, and for a lot of people that is the only option that gets you away from your regular life and gives you a chance to talk with other folks that are going through similar things. It can really make all the difference.

Go through the search engine and you should find plenty of information and threads about counteracting the negative effects of stimulants.

Thanks for sharing your story. We need to find more like you to share their story and proven strategies on overcoming an adderal 20+ yr habit.

Changed it to John

Also In my bio under my comments you can find links to site and forum rules

And just in case there was a miscommunication, my adderall habit wasn't quite for 20+ years, but it was for several, daily adderall usage only being 2-3 years. I no longer take adderall but occassionally other stims so I dont think my analysis is unbiased but thats what i've got to offer
