Which is Worse—Veterinary Problems or Car Problems?

I used to have a mint 1969 Mercedes S-class limo when I lived in an unnamed SE Asian country in the early 2000s. . I also got a Rottweiler puppy. Unfortunately the puppy contracted parvovirus after he’d been with me a month and was so sick as his organs failed I took him in the Merc to the vet to get put down. I was crying on the way until the merc broke down on the toll road and the cops insisted I stay with it in scorching 42 degree centigrade heat until it was towed which took 3 hours during which time the puppy expired on the back seat. At the time all I could think about was the puppy. 20 years later I can;t remember its name and desperately want another classic merc. All puppies are special but so too are certain fine examples of German automotive engineering.

Yesterday I took my 16 year old Maine Coon cat to the vet. My vet thinks he has kidney failure. When I went to leave the vet’s my Audi wouldn’t start. The vet thought it was my battery and gave me a jump. My car still won’t start, and I haven’t heard from the vet re: my baby’s blood work results and a prognosis. I also don’t know how much the car will cost to repair. I haven’t had a full 20mg Oxy in nearly 10 days and I’m drinking Chardonnay because I need to take this edge off.
So I always thought pet problems were worse than car problems, because they could die or have to be put down, whereas a car. Well, a car isn’t something to be attached to...
A terrible day that you had. What could go wrong did go wrong. Pets are family. Dogs have that unconditional love for us. They wag their tail in excitement when they see us. 16 years is a long time; your bond to the dog is incredibly strong. Sorry that you are going through all that....

A Ford Fiesta was one of my best vehicles ever.

Mine has a lot of problems... one, for example, is the only door with a key is the driver's door and the electronics broke so I can't lock/unlock my door. I have to keep my car unlocked or the windows down. Really annoying.

But as far as a vehicle I bought for $6.2k with only 63k miles it's alright I guess.

And I'm quite certain it avoids me attention from the police. Who drives a Fiesta and also does a shit load of drugs?

I have only owned German vehicles; 2 VWs, 2 Mercedes Benz, and now I have the Audi Quattro Cabriolet. I’m happy with my Audi, though not so much when she has issues or needs servicing. I had really wanted the combo of a V6 Quattro in navy blue with a navy top forever. I found it 2,498 miles away and I had it shipped. It’s definitely not a car for a mom w/ more than 1 kid, much less a soccer team...

My '98 bmw 323is is the favorite vehicle I ever had. But I also hated maintaining it. Damn expensive.

But I loved that car so much. So many memories. Also some girls always checked me out in the beemer ;)

I had a neighbor that owned both a BMW convertible and a super cool dog. He would put the top down and drive around with his Old English Sheepdog. This elicited many looks from women. I think Harry the dog is what they really liked but my neighbor was certain he was the attraction 😍

cool car + cute dog? That's like a cheat code to get a woman. Lol.
