Can taking a single dose of an opiate trigger the withdrawal syndrome if one has gone through withdrawal before after a long period of sobriety?

I took oxycodone 30 mg one time 4 days ago and been battling symptoms for 4 days now. Jeezus if i knew it would be like this i wouldnt have taken that one pill

Physically no, mentally yes. It’s wise if you quit, to never take opiates again even if there’s a need. That or if your prescribed please hand them to someone who won’t give in

In my case, if I had been clean for 2 weeks, a single dose was enough to suffer extreme withdrawal the next day, for that reason I cant stop

FuneralFather.. trust me I am experiencing opiate withdrawal symptoms after a single use of oxycodone 30 after 8 months abstinence. Exactly the same symptoms as full blown withdrawal but LESS extreme. I had teary eyes for the last 3 days. Today is day 4 since that one time use, still have restlessness/ agitation/stomachpain and cramping/ insomnia/anxiety. This morning i was getting chills and goosebumps WOW!

I have no urge to pop another pill at this point, so its mostly physical.

I go on and off 10mg oxys, enough to cause withdrawals. They typically start within 12 hours with the chills sweats and shakes. However this time, I didn’t feel any of the sweats or chills or goosebumps. I just felt lethargic and no motivation and didn’t want to be active or be touched. It got worse the next day but still not much sweats, goosebumps, etc. but each day, the uncomfortableness just gets worse and worse. I took some kratom and Xanax which helped but didn’t solve all problems. Still feeling like crawling out of my body. Only on day 3 of being clean. Hopeful it gets better soon

Yes, specially the physical symptoms like diarrhea, runny nose, cold sweats, sensitivity to temperature changes come on again very soon. Withdrawal memory is a truth and things are much less pronounced, yet still there with proper tapering.

Sorry, I keep repeating this over and over as it is so impressive and really saves great suffering - use NMDA antagonists like memantine or DXM. Titrate them for a few days alongside the opioid and that one a bit down, then at some point stop the opioid and increase the antagonist as much as needed to feel good, depending on sensitivity you might experience some confusion/weirdness or even hypomania(!) that requires a sleep aid - but no withdrawal. After maybe 2 weeks slowly taper off.
