Social Justice Transgender and gender identity discussion

15/16 is a bit different to 0-4

I'm not sure if you even read my posts, but I made the point that it should be continual development. If you wait until they are teenagers to even start the process of explaining these things you are going to be way behind. Besides, the document you referenced doesn't advise to explain reproduction to 4 year olds.

Trump finalizes rule defining gender as a person's biological sex

The Trump administration on Friday finalized a regulation that defines gender as a person’s biological sex, reversing an Obama-era rule aimed at protecting transgender people against sex discrimination in health care.

The Health and Human Services Department regulation says essentially that “gender identity” is not protected under federal law prohibiting sex discrimination in health care.

The policy shift was long sought by religious and social conservatives. The Obama administration’s regulation defined gender as a person’s internal sense of being male, female, neither or a combination.

Dr. Grazie Pozo Christie, policy adviser for The Catholic Association, praised the move. She said preventing “discrimination on the basis of sex” was intended “to ensure that women are treated on a par with men.”

“Changing the definition of sex to mean ‘gender identity’ and to include unfettered access to abortion would not have protected the vulnerable,” she said. “Instead, it would have made it impossible for doctors to decline to perform ethically problematic procedures (like late-term abortion) and experimental and dangerous ones (like the removal of healthy organs from young patients with gender dysphoria.) Getting the government out of the business of social engineering, and out of the way of sound medical ethics and patient care is a step forward.”

LGBTQ groups say explicit protections are needed for people seeking sex-reassignment treatment, and even for transgender people who need medical care for common conditions such as diabetes or heart problems.

The GLBTQ Legal Advocates & Defenders (GLAD) group said it will test the new rule in an ongoing federal lawsuit.

“The Trump administration’s new interpretation of Section 1557 contradicts the Affordable Care Act. It’s contrary to established case law, dangerous to transgender people, and can’t survive legal challenge,” said Jennifer Levi, GLAD Transgender Rights Project Director. “Unfortunately, the new rule is likely to confuse health care practitioners, insurers, and employers, and invites providers to turn away transgender people when seeking basic medical care. This is yet another callous policy coming from an administration intent on appeasing the far-right and ignoring sound legal and medical policies.”

Roger Severino, head of the Health and Human Services Department unit that enforces civil rights laws, has said transgender people continue to be protected by other statutes that bar discrimination in health care on account of race, color, national origin, age, disability and other factors.

Women’s groups say the new regulations undermine access to abortion, which is a legal medical procedure.

“No one should fear being turned away by a medical provider because of who they are or the personal health decisions they have made,” said Fatima Goss Graves, president of the National Women’s Law Center, raising the threat of a court challenge.

Under the Obama-era federal rule, a hospital could be required to perform gender-transition procedures such as hysterectomies if the facility provided that kind of treatment for other medical conditions. The rule was meant to carry out the anti-discrimination section of the Affordable Care Act, which bars sex discrimination in health care but does not use the term “gender identity.”

Gregory Baylor, senior counsel of the nonprofit Alliance Defending Freedom, said the administration was right to “restore the rule of law by respecting what Congress meant” by the word sex.

“Replacing the objective concept of sex with the subjective and fluid notion of gender identity, as some courts and the prior administration have tried to do, has serious consequences for women’s sports and female-only spaces like school locker rooms, showers, and homeless women’s shelters,” he said. “Confirming the clear meaning of sex as grounded in human biology ensures that women will continue to have equal opportunities in sports, school, and work, and it protects the privacy rights of all Americans.”

For the administration, it’s the latest in a series of steps to revoke newly won protections for LGBTQ people in areas ranging from the military to housing and education.

The proposed new rule would also affect the notices that millions of patients get in multiple languages about their rights to translation services. Such notices often come with insurer “explanation of benefits” forms.

The Trump administration says the notice requirement has become a needless burden on health care providers, requiring billions of paper notices to be mailed annually at an estimated five-year cost of $3.2 billion.

Ah yes, but Trump loves the lgbtqs!

The country is trying to re-open during the pandemic and people want to go back to work. This makes it harder for people to get and/or hold jobs.

The economy is truly fucked. Thanks Trump.

Many companies offer a health insurance program providing families with basic health needs. When the health care companies change the wordings, several people's coverage will change or drop all together.

Since our jobs are closely tied with our health care, this will make finding a job much more difficult to work for several people as well as possibly never getting insurance.

My extended health benefits in Canada are through an American insurance company. In the past I've had to resubmit claims that were denied because of no relation to the claimant despite I pay specifically for his extended benefits. Each time they claimed it was because our last names were not the same but his benefits are paid for as a spouse. Should I expect more shenanigans now? I'm sure doing all the paper work on who's paying for what in our medical system actually costs more money then the care.

Interesting study has shown that [men and women have physically different brains] transgender people actually have the physical brain of the gender the identify as. From example a trans woman will often have a physically female brain.
This is also true, to a lesser extent, for homosexuals.
I can post a link if anyone is interested?
This is false. Post the links. Of course, hormone use affects brain structure, but if you look at them before the hormones you'd be suprised. I wish you would send me a study where highly qualified doctors can say who is trans just based on their brains, not by seeing the person. Women have smaller brains than men, did you know that? Just by looking at the size of brain it can be said which gender the person truly is. Also, how can we see sexuality of human in their brains? I would be glad to hear some clarification on this subject.

I'll have a look for the link. Hmm, good point about the hormones, though!

I’ve been following a number of cases of high profile women (like JK Rowling) saying on Twitter or elsewhere that transwomen should be respected by that they are not “real women” and trying to hold open the ontological category of women purely on the basis of biological sex.

Now, the levels of abuse and threats of sexual and other violence these women receive from trans activists seems very “masculine” from want of another word - suggesting that many (but not all) transwoman remain wired for aggression and violence in a way many feminists attribute to masculinity - toxic or otherwise.

I’ve also noticed a very male capacity for violence in transwomen i have met, and crossed, in real life.

I’m not suggesting that biological women cannot be violent but it seems many transwomen’s femininity is stereotypically superficial (hair, clothes, mannerisms) until the get riled - then their playing to win by whatever means necessary.

Of course, i have met a few transwomen who seem more feminine to the core but they lead quiet lives and ignore the so-called TERF wars and battles over gender ideology.

I lived in Thailand for many years and I was always polite with the ladyboys even if they were sexually aggressive with me.
They have a short fuse, were quick to anger and have the reputation of fucking you up, robbing you, getting a gang of them to beat you up - if you piss them off.
I definitely didn't view them as females (even though some of them were more attractive than the actual women there).

And yeah I'm also led to believe that the "T" community does not speak for or represent all trans people.
I would even bet that the most vicious and vocal trans activists are not even trans themselves.
This has gone far beyond trans rights and there's ulterior political motives at play (some of which involve children).

The chemical castration of children, by not allowing them to reach puberty by making them eat hormone blockers is one of the must inhumane things i can think of. I had all kinds of insane ideas when i was young, thank god my parents didn't give me personal responsibility when i was just little child. My brother used to wear girl clothes, he is gay now that he's adult, but in US and with the current trans climate there i wouldn't be surprised if he was made to girl based on something. I have read that kids get taken off their parents if they object the trans thing and that many doctors are actually scared to speak about how they're worried. This is legit purdue pharma 2.0. Lobbing causing medical community to go full retard. In 5-10 years we will see mass lawsuits.

I expect the same for a lot of this to end in tragedy and moralistic snapback.

It's actually really frightening how much this is pushed by the trusted medical establishment.
To me that proves ulterior agendas and corruption, but going after children like that is incomprehensible to me.

I’m not sure about that. I think we are seeing a huge Cultural Revolution that the forces of wokeness are winning. The woke folk are not going to reverse their positions as they get older and more powerful. They are going to double down.
You actually think they are winning? Their current movement will backlash. You think as white people become minority they don't want to secure some of that power for themselves?
Here's what we will see
1. Woke gang and their allies go around looting, causing chaos and destroying monuments.
2. Right-wing groups form and start defending them.
3. Police overreacts to the right-wing groups and uses extreme measures.
4. Media calls the looting and destroying left wingers peaceful protesters and calls right-wing groups violent mobs.
5. Normal people can't ignore double standards.
6. They are attacked daily because of their identity.
7. They realize that their identity is under attack and start acting based on that.
8. Actual far-right groups get power, since people are begging for police state to keep woke gang in control and the people will get it.
9. Society will become conservative and authoritarian.
If you remember family from your childhood, you remember probably happiness and safety. You remember your mum and dad dancing. Then there's somebody saying "Tradition, family and nationalism." You recognize those things. There's also somebody yelling at you telling that gender isn't real and attacks you for the skin of your color. The tradition dude says "Hey, we can keep those people in check if you support us. You can keep doing your job and be a happy family." The gender person will tell you "You must pay reparations to black people and be ashamed of who you are." Who will you support? Who will most of the normal working class people who actually provide value to society support?

You actually think they are winning?

I think what you describe could play out in America (or at least in Red States). However in the rest of the english speaking world like Canada, Australia and UK I am not so sure.

The woke control much of the State in these countries including even some parts of the police in the UK.
