5 Women Bernie Sanders Could Pick For Veep In 2020

1 Sen. Elizabeth Warren

At 70 years of age, Elizabeth Warren is a good eight years younger than Sanders. She’s also undoubtedly progressive. Picking her for VP in 2020 would create a progressive unity ticket after their fierce 2019 war over the Democratic Party’s left wing.

2. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard

Tulsi Gabbard is more than a couple decades younger than Sanders, so whether she makes the list depends on how literally he meant “a couple years younger.” The congresswoman might be viewed as too inexperienced, but that didn’t stop Dan Quayle from becoming George H. W. Bush’s vice president. Gabbard has been a long time Bernie ally. She stepped down from Vice Chair of the DNC to endorse him in 2016.

3. Sen. Tammy Baldwin (WI – swing state)

Here’s a name you probably haven’t heard. But Sen. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) would make a smart running mate for Sanders in 2020. She’d help him flip a key swing state Democrats lost to Trump in 2016. Her progressive bona fides are unquestionable. She’s a member of the Congressional Progressive Congress and has one of the most liberal voting records on Capitol Hill according to the National Journal.

4. Sen. Debbie Stabenow (MI – swing state)

Stabenow is another U.S. senator who you’ve never heard of, but might hear a lot about if Sanders is nominated in 2020. She’s represented Michigan in the Senate since 2001, another blue swing state that Trump won in 2016. She gets high scores from progressive groups like ProgressivePunch (92% )Free market groups like the Competitive Enterprise Institute score her low (0% )

5. Michelle Obama

This would be a real wild card veep pick. But it might be the trump card the eventual nominee will need to beat Donald Trump in 2020.

Agreed to all of the above, but why no Senator Klobuchar? Also from a North Central swing state from last time. However, it seems as if Mr Trump acquires a small lead and absolute majority early on and keeps it, he is in the enviable catbird seat right above a meerkat bolt hole now.

Lots of commentators and researchers are scratching their heads about what is going on with all this -- I am inclined to think that those people in Congress who opted for the hearings at their at this specific time because they thought they could get Senator Sanders et al tied up in Washington DC as yet another mater debate drew nearer.

Also they maybe thought they coud logistically incapcitate Prsident Trump . . .I wonder if people remember those old 3M and Husqvarana ads which basically said that if one is going out in the forest to hunt bears, they had better be prepared to get them betwixt the eyes lest they have an angry, wounded brown, black, grizzly, polar (or for than matter, sloth, sun, or spectacled bear -- all in the Ursidae branch of the more dog-like Carnivoran classification of terrestrial and air-breathing aquatic mammals. I am also inclined to think that the Yeti is a close relative to them, either a heavily mutated bear or huge, elusive, totally undescribed Procyonid, perhaps even a third panda chased into the mountains by climate change when the central Asian deserts dried up)

Yeah, it’s over.
But Carville, who famously has ADHD and used it during his career to keep Clinton from making even longer speeches,

Was Mr Carville back stage when then Arkansas Governor Clinton gave the really long at the 1988 Democratic National Convention? It was actually a great speech that the eventual President made . . .

There are in fact politicians who can hold an audience for over an hour or more -- not only Castro and Qaadafi until recently, bit also William Jennings Bryan giving speeches up to six hours, along with the various La Follettes, Bensons, and other leaders of such things as the Non-Partisan League, Co-Operative Commonwealth Federation, Farmer & Labour Party of Minnesota, Progressive Party (Wisconsin and elsewhere) and earlier the Populists could do much the same thing and attract crowds equivalent to more than 28 per cent the entire population of the state in question to Bismarck, Fargo, St Paul, Regina, Winnipeg, Madison, Milwaukee, Minneapolis and Des Moines when the time came.

. . .is dead on about messaging. I’m not referring to whomever he supports, I’m referring to the fact that Democrats have important things to say and they aren’t saying them. They’re too caught up in the media/twitter spin cycle.
If you’re not concerned about the things Carville mentioned, then you might want to take a look at them, because I think his concerns are warranted and on point.

lets see Biden or Bloomberg do that

Bombshell Audio of Mike Bloomberg Saying '95% of Your Murderers' Are 'Male Minorities' Goes Viral

Audio of Mike Bloomberg's 2015 speech at the Aspen Institute has gone viral. In his talk, the former New York Mayor who's now running for the Democrat presidential nomination, says that "you can just Xerox (copy)" the description of the murderers and their victims (male, minorities, ages 16-25) and hand it over to the cops. As is always the case with Bloomberg, he had the video of the speech blocked. Sadly for him, however, there are people who have the audio recording.

"95 percent of your murders -- murderers and murder victims fit one M.O. You can just take the description, Xerox it and pass out to all the cops. They are male, minorities, sixteen to twenty-five. That's true in New York, that's true in virtually every city," Bloomberg said.

"And that's where the real crime is," the man who's running for the nomination of the supposedly anti-racist Democrat party went on to say. "You've got to get the guns out of the hands of the people that are getting killed. You want to spend the money on a lot of cops on the streets." Once you've got more cops, he argued, you have to "put the cops where the crime is, which means in minority neighborhoods."

Bloomberg even responded to those who'd pull the race card on him. "One of the unintended consequences is people say, 'Oh my God, you are arresting kids for marijuana that are all minorities.' Yes, that's true. Why? Because we put all the cops in minority neighborhoods. Yes, that's true. Why do we do it? Because that's where all the crime is."

And he wasn't done quite yet. He added that "[the] way you get the guns out of the kids' hands is to throw them up against the walls and frisk them... And then they start... 'Oh, I don't want to get caught.' So they don't bring the gun. They still have a gun, but they leave it at home."

RIP

No more POC on the debate stage.
Yang brought some really important ideas (re automation and the work force, particularly) to the race and I’m sorry he left. But it’s better than running a single digit campaign into the ground.

It looks like a race between Sanders, Buttigieg, and Bloomberg, although it remains to see how these candidates fare in places like the South. I’m guessing not well.

It's sad to me that Biden has so much more black support than Sanders, given that Bernie has worked in the civil rights movement since the 60s and all Biden did was get chosen as Vice President for the first black President. it doesn't automatically make him the best choice for black voters.

Well they, uhhh, they're American voters so the fact that you have any faith in their intelligence or understanding is something I applaud you for.

I think the media is hoping this goes away. His lack of minority support has always been exaggerated.

Let me introduce you to British voters... see how low we can go.

The US Democratic and the Republican parties are on the same page when it comes to the issue that really matters - the ideology that infuses US foreign policy and how it is used to bankroll the US economy and the mega-rich.

Since Bernie Sanders is an outspoken critic of that same ideology, both the Democratic and Republican parties are in full agreement that Bernie cannot be President. Indeed, the Democratic party mandarins see him as a much bigger threat than Trump. In fact, the Democrats don't really see Trump as a threat at all.

The highest priority for any political party is to become or stay necessary and relevant. That doesn't mean actually being in power, a position of necessary and relevant opposition will do very well.

The US Democratic party is therefore content to see Trump re-elected because:

1) Trump will continue to toe the line on the Dem-Rep unified party line on foreign policy and American exceptionalism.

2) Trump would probably beat Bernie in the unlikely event that he is allowed to become the Democratic nominee.

3) By hysterically sounding the alarm on Trump's 'autocratic leanings', the Democratic party continues to remain a 'necessary and relevant bulwark against Trump's encroaching fascism'.

In all of it, the vast majority of American's are being profoundly manipulated and deceived.
