She equally is the victim of a fake sound bite environmental movement. Whose agenda is not what you think. Instead fauxenvironmentalism is being used to push a massive wealth and freedom extraction scheme. The environmentalist movement has been hijacked IMHO into something that is a tool for the same people respnsible for the current mess. Ask yourself how Ms Thunberg got such easy access to the very top, ask yourself also why ms Thunberg had a camera crew with her from the very start.

I say not proven on anthropogenic climate change. Models are exactly that, models. Models that come up with the same conclusion when random data is thrown in are not valid models. Models where the inner workings are hidden and the data inputted is prescreened are not sound either. Garbage in Garbage out. Science stands or falls on the quality of the evidence presented, not consensus.

I say climate change is real and always has been. 5000 years ago the north africa and the sahel was green, one thousand years ago coastal peru was green too. What influence man has is unknown.

As an aside If we wanted to capture all of the CO2 released in the last year it is actually relatively easy, switch to agricultural techniques that preserve the soil fungi and soil structure, temperate soil is one of the biggest CO2 sinks on earth. That means lower impact farming, less chemical inputs. It means not growing high impact crops like maize to feed cattle. Never grow crops to turn into ethanol or biodiesel remove those subsidies. Let cattle eat grass, properly managed pasture absorbs and sequesters immense amounts of CO2 and gives beef.

I support protecting earth, and I actively make choices that do this out of enlightened self interest. I like my nature I like my frogs my snakes my mantises, my hoopoes. But say no to subsidizing Elons selling electric virtue signalling boxes, no to carbon credits, no to carbon taxes that only the rich can afford. No to forced fuel poverty. No to holding back countries development.

From oil-majority rich nations. Yes I totally believe that.

The people who are impacted by global climate change right now in the US are mostly Trump supporters.

It's hurting Americans and people in other non-oil-rich nations alike.

So yes I do trust them, and it's a very worthwhile question to ask.

The problem is too much CO2 in ocean, ocean levels rising and heating, atmospheric heating, species extinction acceleration, .... the problems exist, even if "humans didn't cause it" which I find laughable (but irrelevant if this is the only world we have to live in).

AND IS IRRELEVANT. It doesn't matter if I did it, all humans, or JESUS CHRIST did it. WE ARE LIVING IN AN EVER-WARMING WORLD, other geological/geographical issues, and I can't imagine ya'll don't feel a concern even if you don't blame humans for having started it.

adapt or die. Darwin I guess. I will adapt.

I am not going to put my faith in Ms Thunberg or my future in the hands of anyone else of the fauxenvironmental movement.
I am going to keep doing pragmatic things that do make a difference.
 
There are plenty of places in the country with clean drinking water, plenty of space to grow food, and enough ammunition to protect it.
 
I know they say "eat the rich"

But that's only like .01% of the population. Imagine how much longer we could subsist on the poor! Although, I'm sure they are more carcinogenic....

It really isn't as dramatic as all that, there is more than enough food and water, world population will peak and naturally decline. People are selling you fear porn and your brain is soaking it up because that is what your brain has evolved to do.

if you think that guns will protect it you are wrong, what protects it is not fucking over your neighbors, helping them when you don't have to and sharing when you don't have to but just out of decency.

we can throw numbers at each other, but I think it is a matter of perception. You are more than smart enough to adapt if you engaged rather than retreated into doom and angst. So I stand by the idea that there is more than enough food and water, we just need to value it properly and stop wasting it like all resources

Perception isn't objective reality and I'm sorry to have to break that to you.

I didn't say anything about guns not being the last line, but they really are the last line and a sign you have failed to win the battle already, Sun Tzu.

Do you want to play philosophical sophistry about reality? objective reality is only possible for someone outside of the system they are observing.

All you me or anyone has to go on is their perception especially so when it is based on incomplete knowledge. I can do a back of envelope calculation of how much food 8 bn people need likewise fresh water and then look at whether that amount exists on earth, it does. Ergo there is sufficient food and water on this planet for 8 bn people. Whether there will continue to be so is a different argument, and one which relies on projecting current trends and so is a lot more fuzzy. The other point is whether the food and water are in the places where it is needed, Kalifornia is fucked for water the current relatively generous climate and snowfalls in the california are not something that was normal in the 1600s through to the 1850s. So california needs to adapt.
