Social Justice Transgender and gender identity discussion

Do you have to relearn how to speak with a feminine voice?


My boss says the voicespeaking as a female with the larynx and Adams Apple needs a lot of practice
 
Yes! I certainly did need to re-learn to speak with a more feminine voice. Luckily, I was an opera singer throughout childhood which helped a great deal with learning my upper speaking range. Some trans people have vocal surgery to help with this.
 
JessFR I don't know why you're giving me such a simplistic and uncharitable interpretation of my opinion.

I'm saying that the sexualization of children is a slippery slope and I can see the evidence of the normalisation of pedophilia, along with there needing to be more research done with trans kids before we also normalize the practice of gender reassignment. That should be the very last resort.

Sooo, hypothetically. If the research and statistics overwhelmingly suggested that allowing children to transition ultimately saves lives and improves long term outcomes, you'd then support it?

Ok wow, the moral indignation in the article is so typically Victorian as to be hilarious. With that said, the only thing I've found in the many articles about this is just a reposting of that page "All About Me" lesson. I'm not really seeing how its sexualizing children rather recognizing that children touch themselves inappropriately in public and saying "while its normal to touch yourself, keep it to your private time."

Maybe I'm missing something?

I'm also wondering how it ties into the topic?

I agree. Children need to be protected from the extremists in the lgbt scene. Remember NAMBLA?

A bit late to the party, but for people that don't seem to think so apparently this kid was being praised as some lgbt hero...



I guess the same kid was hanging out with Michael Alig. Yeah that's a great influence for a child. :rolleyes:
 
I'm running out of patience here. We do in fact have rules against posts that encourage hate towards groups of people.

If you (and by you, I mean anyone) continue conflating being transgender with being a pedophile, you run the risk of having the post removed and reported, and eventually potentially infracted.

I can see no good reason at all for discussion of pedophilia to overlap with discussion of transgender or other LGBT issues. Unless the goal is to encourage hate and disgust against such people, which is against the bluelight user agreement.

Then re-open the Pedogate/Pizza thread as I've asked countless times so that I have somewhere to post all the pedo-related news that's everywhere and is still completely relevant.

And I am also running out of patience - with people that are unwilling to separate political agendas from the individual. It's the equivalent of refusing to discuss climate change science because you consider the act of doing so a personal attack against Greta Thunberg.

That's not how it works. Good people can be used for bad things and just like I am Jewish who speaks out against Israel there are many trans people that would agree with everything that I'm saying. I also never once conflated being transgender with being a pedophile as you stated. My issue is the sexualization of children and trans activists taking advantage of or pushing the limits there.
 
That you don't have the thread you'd like to post it in does not make it acceptable for you to intentionally post it in the wrong thread.

I'll say it again, I can see no justification for bringing up pedophilia repeatedly in the transgender thread other to encourage hate and disgust.

If you (or others) continue to do it, I intend to remove it and bring it up as a violation of the BLUA for encouraging hate against a group of people.

There's a great deal of valid political discussion to be had about transgender politics. And I don't think it's wrong to have concerns about transition in children. But repeatedly bringing up or suggesting a pedophile connection is just an underhanded scare tactic at best, and outright bigotry at worst.
 
Well I don't care what you say there is a pedophile connection. The last link I posted was a book on trans acceptance that described sexual acts with a very young child. When I make these claims I get yelled at and evidence is demanded and then when I show evidence I am "spreading hate", by exposing people spreading pedophilia.. You fail to understand that non-trans people are using the movement to push this stuff throug, and now for you to threaten censorship and suppression of free speech due to your biased interpretation of what's happening well that pretty much proves exactly what I'm saying with the propaganda and brainwashing of identity politics.

Also that link is relevant to this thread. There are certain stories and themes that overlap.
 
I read the link. The pedophile in question, in context, was a 6 year old. I don't believe in 6 year old pedophiles.

This isn't up for debate. You can choose to stop bringing up pedophilia, you can choose to go bitch at the admins that I'm being unfair. Or you can continue, and I will take it down and bring it to the admins for you. Those are the options.

You can. You can make a thread about the over sexualization of children in society. What you can't do, is go to an existing thread about a group of people you have issues with, and then keep bringing up pedophilia and trying to connect them with it, over and over.

This thread is not about pedophiles. And this isn't a forum with unlimited free speech. It's a forum for drug users. And some of those drug users may be transgender, or gay, or whatever.

It is not unreasonable to have rules that say you can't deliberately encourage hostility or disgust towards those people. The ability to do that is not essential to bluelights mission. In fact it obstructs it.

This place is for drug support first and foremost. We've already had one person in this thread say they identify as transgender. And it is by no means unreasonable for them to expect to be able to be here without seeing people repeatedly insinuating that they might have a secret pedophile agenda.

Nobody is saying you can't have your opinions. But you don't have absolute freedom to express them here. I'm sorry if that means you feel you can't be a member here. I really am. But I'd rather see a few individuals who seem to come here first to argue their politics leave in political protest, than people who are here for drug support leave because they felt persecuted.

I'm sorry you feel that way. I don't particularly want anyone to feel like they have to leave, including JGrimez. But the rules say you can't promote hatred of groups of people. I agree with those rules because I believe bluelights overall harm reduction mission is more important than free speech in this political subforum. And in my interpretation, repeatedly linking pedophilia to being transgender is doing exactly that.

You or Grimez are welcome to take it above me and argue that it's either not against the rules or shouldn't be. But right now I believe it is, and I believe it's right that it is.

You're allowed to have your beliefs, and I'd fight for your right to express those beliefs in the general public discourse. Even if it hurts people. But this is a private forum intended to support drug users. And drug use is disproportionately high in the very minority groups these rules are meant to protect. So allowing free speech doesn't seem compatible with the best interests of bluelights mission of harm reduction.

Id like to now get back on topic if possible. If anyone wants to debate this course of action further, there are higher up staff you can take your arguments too.

Echo chamber sounds like a developmental status issue.

Do you think a major surgery should be performed on the thread while it is still a young child like we do with intersex children?
