I've read so many state that the composition of adderall is so similar to methamphetamine, but that adderall is far safer and methamphetamine is neurotoxic. Can anyone answer why meth users frequently have rotting teeth and become delirious after long term heavy use/other adverse physical effects, while adderall even when abused doesn't seem to cause the same issues?

I know the difference in strength is a huge factor and that methamphetamine is far stronger, but for instance what if you were a light user? Would the effects of meth still add up over time? What about adderall makes it "safe" in comparison even if you were taking huge quantities of adderall to match the strength methamphetamine? I've never met anyone who ruined their life over adderall use, but definitely a few with methamphetamine. It just doesn't add up to me that the composition of the two can be so similar but one is a totally different monster.

Well, they're different substances to start with. Adderall is a mix of amphetamine salts with a specific ratio of isomers - 75% dextroamphetamine, 25% levoamphetamine, IIRC, so for a start being a pharmaceutical it's far more standardised compared to the composition of street methamphetamine. But even discounting this factor and assuming we're talking about 100% pure methamphetamine of a fixed composition every time - methamphetamine appears to be directly neurotoxic in a way that amphetamine itself is not.

Methamphetamine is prescribed sometimes too, although very rarely nowadays as far as I'm aware, typically in 5mg tablets ("desoxyn") which is a miniscule amount compared to the typical dose that even novice meth users will take of "street" stuff.

There are a lot of other factors, but the way your question is phrased makes me think maybe you are under the misconception that methamphetamine and Adderall are more similar than they actually are. This question would make more sense if you were comparing street amphetamine (ie, speed) and Adderall, because then the substance in question is the same. But methamphetamine and amphetamine despite being extremely close chemically are not the same drug.

I found that Selenium is a great neuroprotector, I pop a pill or two before I vaporize from Sublime and take one every day if I extended the use to the other day and after I stop I take it for three more days, this is not clinically proven but is better to be very careful after all I almost finished my batchelor at chemistry but at the middle of it I change to political science, I need a healthy brain. Another neuroprotector I found is lithium carbonate, and casually I got a prescription for it before I started methamphetamine. I know it might be difficult to get some lithium carbonate but I have read rumors that some vitamin shop have some supplement with another salt of lithium that maybe will not hurt to look for it.

Thanks for the responses from both of you. I've seen several comments/interviews from people with pharmaceutical backgrounds stating that meth and adderall have similar compositions. Some have stated that the two substances have less in common than we think while others have stated that they are more similar than people think. It just didn't add up to my knowledge how methamphetamine is more neurotoxic than adderall if the compositions are similar, but now that has been clarified to me. I did not know that the meth vapors themselves are so corrosive and toxic. Just for me can you answer if your meth is as "high-end" and as pure as possible without unnecessary additives that pollute it's potency, would the side effects be far less? I know that some wealthier communities have access to some incredibly pure methamphetamine.

I already have problems with being a speed junkie on pharmaceutical pills alone, so I'll try to avoid crystal because I know I'll love it way too much and ruin my entire life. I have no self control when it comes to speed or opiates and I'm just going to accept it and be honest with myself before dabbling in tier 1 god versions of my current addictions. I don't agree with this in full, while i agree that psychosis is inevitable, it isn't a set # of days it depends on the person, for me it takes 8 24 hour days of no sleep till i start to go wonky but by then if i lie down, i'm out for no less than a day. so it realllly depends on how tolerant someone is to SLEEP DEPRIVATION because it is the lack of sleep that'll fuck with how you're able to 1. process things 2. function 3. perceive things, yeah those shadow people at the corner of your eye are in your head but they can certainly seem real. but i will say i agree that as a general safe zone, 2 days should be the limit where you can expect no ill-effects or negatives to occur, not much of any negatives really unless you've taken VERY high doses, but duh. thats a given.

i wanted to state for the record even though it's probably been detailed better above, Meth and amphetamine are identical, look at meth as a super form of amphetamine. i took about 100mg worth of meth over the last 36 hours, and fuck i'm not supposed to so i'm gonna just say that id have taken a shit load more amphetamine to get the same effects that the 100mg worth of meth had. BUT because they're said to be identical, i will say on meth, you'll feel high vs. on amphetamine you know you're high. which is the main difference i've really noticed.

I started recently to do methamphetamine and I can assure you that even with my control on other potential addictive substance I have used methamphetamine is something else. Easy to fall into the trap of compulsive redosing with the "Is just the tiniest crystal with some powder" and there I was on my way to redose bits by bits. Went I look at the hour I lost easily 4 to 5 hours sucking on that glass dick. Took a break and didn't sleep much for two days. After that I had a break of a week and an half, got a complete day off and did some shards and this time I did not redose much that makes me realize I need to pack small bows but not too small. With the first bow I did that morning it last until 3:00pm. I also notice that if I got really big and cute glass I use it less. Also methamphetamine is a wierd stimulant, still feel that have some mystery in it that maybe I should not find out.

I am looking for some alternative to vaporize in Sublime because I found the ritual of vaporizing to be fascinate.

Methamphetamine have a really high potential of abused like I never felt before with other addictive drugs. You should be careful and avoid it if you know yourself. Knowing yourself and also having the ability to know your limits are the best HR technic.

And so you like opiates! I have try many times to do different type of opiates in pill form and never feel anything different.

i forgot to add that i PERSONALLY feel that methamphetamine is the better drug because you can take MUCH less and aquire the same results (but thats if you can control the use, my amphetamine use has only gotten to where it is due to my chronic pain and using stims to cut down on pain meds)

I say two days in a form of disclaimer. In my second year of college I got some pretty nasty finals week, for three days in a row I was having two exams in the first day, three at second day and at the last day I got one. So I really didn't have much time to study if I sleep like a normal person, so my naive me got in an amphetamine binge for 8 days studying like if there were no end. Never have a visit from the shadow people or none other reality distortion. I am bipolar so that type of move could get me into a manic fade and easily enter the realm of mania but I didn't. I have done marathons like that many times in my life and have not yet been visit by the famous shadow people, wierd right?

So yeah like you said, sleep deprivation affects people differently. And psychosis is not there at the second day.

Yeah I have the worst self control with redosing-- the stimulants themselves lower my inhibitions in the same way alcohol does for many and I just get lost in constantly needing to keep a high and never come down. Meth would be a disaster for me, I know we would be an awful team. At least with how things are now I feel guilty about my mild/moderate abuse but the drugs never became my life officially over my goals.. I think meth and H would permanently ruin me.


I highly don't recommend opiates for anyone that doesn't need them for pain relief and even then.. Like stims, it can become a vicious cycle of self-diagnosing depression and anxiety which in time makes the two symptoms ironically far worse. I'm happy you do not like opiates. I've had my fair share of dabbling in a lot of unnecessary things which I regret deeply. The only things that got me hooked were stims and opies. Was even "addicted" to marijuana for years if that's possible and one day woke up and had no desire to do it again, but there's something about euphoria I struggle with keeping my distance from.

Meth can be produced from cooks who know what they are doing or from shake n bake/makeshift labs, which means there is not a standard for purity. This brings many other risks like the cuts used and improper preparation. Also, you have to look at it from a research perspective - dextroamphetamine and amphetamine have a long history of use across many applications. Meth under most circumstances will be much less pure than its counterpart, and has a different method of action resulting in marked physiological differences.

Had my wild years tho, I started to use 25mg of amphetamines because that was the common strength found on the street. Very powerful dose if you never had a strong stimulant in your life. Went my psychiatrist prescribed me amphetamine she told me to keep the lowest dose possible for the desired effect. She knew I didn't have ADD, but she also knew that my condition can fuck up my concentration. She only give me 30 pills of 20mg for three months.

I don't know why but meth comedown help me to avoid redosing. I found that when I am high on meth I have less control in dosing. What I do is that I put the meth far away from my sight or give it to my boyfriend to hide it for me. The comedown comes and I don't feel bad perse just not high. I think that this is mostly because I started recently and comedown are not so hard at first. And well I l live in and Island in the Caribbean that is a colony of the US. People who use hard drugs here may have never heard from meth or just in Breaking Bad. Is only used by a few rich people that most are Americans and in my community of gay men with the famous chemsex. I think I am the only gay dude who use it out of the sex context. This factors make meth here expensive because is only brought to the Island from the main land in small quantities. And been expensive make me wanna really not buy it at all and stay with my amphetamines.

Went I used methamphetamine for the first time and didn't felt euphoria I surrender all my hopes to feel that feeling by drug-induced. MDMA is wierd for me, don't feel euphoria but I find it very therapeutic, the last time I used it was in my apartment. I got a lot of negative thoughts out that gave me anxiety but at the same time I was able to work those problems and was really good.

Sometimes I feel mild euphoria from amphetamines and mild to it almost euphoria with LSD-25 in the coming up.

Music is the only real thing that sometimes gives me an incredibly rush of euphoria and is not a drug.

Also, you have to look at it from a research perspective - dextroamphetamine and amphetamine have a long history of use across many applications. Meth under most circumstances will be much less pure than its counterpart, and has a different method of action resulting in marked physiological differences.

Yes, is kinda obvious that pharmaceutical grade amphetamine is more pure than the street form methamphetamine. But it mostly the most pure hard drug you can find in the streets. And I didn't say it, was the DEA that investigated the purity of street methamphetamine and found out that the average purity % was around 80 - 85 (I don't remember the percent exactly) that's fucking high for a street drug! In my organic chemistry labs I used regent from 80% of purity. The most used cuts aren't psychoactive and if they are is an weak stimulant. People wash it with acetone but I think is a waste of time... not all cuts have similar intermolecular forces and some are trapped when methamphetamine was crystalized. If you really wish to get rid of the cut is by recrystallization, something that can be really complicated because you need an solvent that don't dissolve meth at low temperatures and that dissolve meth in high temperatures. Sometimes this solvent don't exist and need to mix two other to find a good match. Also meth have a low decomposition temperature so it my get destroyed in the process. After that you need to be real careful with the system because a shake, disturbance or simply abrupt temperature change will force the crystal net and trapped again the stupid cut.

I explain this not to be cocky, is just that maybe is too much of a process for an neurotoxin. Vaporizing cuts should be the less of my worry lol.

Sort of related question, what are some good things to know before first trying amphetamine (in the form of Adderall)? I'm not really sure how to use it yet, either for studying or recreationally. I certainly don't want to become one of the poster child college kids who abuse the fuck out of it just to get their work done. I've heard that the addiction can really just come out of nowhere, so any tips for safe and responsible use would be much appreciated. Also what's a good recommended first dose (was thinking 5 or 10 mg)?
