The 2019 Trump Presidency Thread

I am abrasive with poor social skills, and lacking the ability to write with eloquence. It is probably best for me to stay away from these kinds of threads.
Too often I upset someone, without intention.
I apologize for my shitty ways.
@Xorkoth , sorry about that.

Sad but true. How long has politics been so circus-like in America? So horribly polarizing president seems like a bad choice to lead a nation. Btw, what are the viewer numbers for "neutral" tv channels?

There are no neutral channels. It's Trump TV , Corporatist News Network, and whatever the fuck MSNBC is now. It's interesting to watch them squirm now that Kamala's numbers have plummeted. They've talked too much shit now to get behind Biden...

I kinda think Trump is toast next year. Changed my mind. Not because Democrats will nominate the right person and run an effective campaign. Because establishment republicans would rather take a small hit now, obstruct best they can for four years, then get in for another 8. That's when the next wave of Supreme Court nominations will start happening, 2025-2033 (that'd be the time period in my scenario).

Trump needs to remember, he's only there as long as the money men and lobbyists want him there. Only as long as he's serving their purpose. I bet it's really hurting his ego having everyone know he's kissing Wayne LaPierre's feet.

It really started in earnest in the GW Bush era (2000-2008). That's when people started using terms like "libsurgent" and equating being Democrat/liberal with being a traitor, and when people started referring to Republicans as stupid ignorant hicks, basically. The hate started then, or at least became vocal. Then Trump came and it got pushed to the next level with all the shit that gets talked about here. He also brought to the forefront (whether accidentally or not) the issues of bigotry and the discomfort some have with tolerance of other lifestyles/cultures, and given people a platform to feel comfortable expressing that stuff, whereas before people didn't want to say it too loudly.

The partisan division has been happening for a while but it's gotten much worse lately.

It was hilarious after Northam got in trouble for old racist yearbook photos that surfaced, CNN wrote his name with a (R) next to it.

And people wonder why they call them FAKE NEWS.

You do know that (R) stands for representative? It is standard nomenclature. There is nothing "fake" about the use of that insignia. It is used all the time, whether the news is of a positive or negative slant for representatives of either parties.

Just hearing now about the Burma military sexual violence accusations against every gender / sexuality / age group very scary (forced labor as well) and I hope the Trump/American administration gets involved or passes MASSIVE SANCTIONS. This is pretty inexcusable. 295 families interviewed = none want to go back. I know we're never going to try severing our alliance with them but there's got to be some response by the American administration now, if there was ever going to be one.

VERY thankful for the UN at this point and thinking we need more of it not less and I was probably wrong for ever thinking less of the UN (though there are many on-going criticisms of it thus far).

Also not surprised the entire nation wasn't open to the UN investigators. I'm sure there will be parts of the nation off-limits to us forever. Very brave people who go into the wilderness and investigate these crimes.

maybe. or maybe they made a simple typo mistake.

equating a typo with a deliberate, systematic pattern of false news is a bit of a stretch (but not if you're biased and determined to push the "all news i disagree with is FAKE NEWS" narrative...

I think people hate him because he's an asshole. And I think other people love him for the same reason. :p
indeed - just take a look at the way he's handled this denmark debacle. he's insulted and ostracised an ally by showing his astonishing ignorance on the international stage then acting like a petulant child when he didn't get his way...

You can't. He can take credit for it, along with the economy, solar flares, and earthquakes, but you can't really give him credit in that previous Presidents have been doing the same thing. I wanted to have something Trump did right, but if you follow the tweet from CH's post, and read the replies, Trump didn't do anything really.

There was a nice article in the replies about how Obama made the process much easier and transparent.

Uhh, that has not been my experience at all. In my experience (r) stands for republican, and (d) for democrat.

Anyone else care to weigh in here cause I'm having doubts now.

What u guys know about Project Iceworm?

Do you think Trump asked about buying Greenland to get us to think about why? That follows with the narrative of Trump being Q+ ???!!!

They say there are a lot of tunnels down there, thousands of miles .

Recently I read epstein had a cement mixer expressed and local reports of filling tunnels under pedotemple.

I also read greenland had like, a 1/3 person report of sexual abuse.

I will try and find the article. My comp started acting funny when I posted about ghizzy maxwell on rdddit. Weird. Im on cell now.

Oh what a convenient typo during a segment of old racist pictures surfacing leading people to believe he was a Republican instead of a Democrat!
It's not a stretch when you accept that there is an extreme anti-conservative bias on most of cable "news", and they've consistently lied over and over to demonize conservatives. It's not even arguable anymore.
It's also obvious when you look at the airtime given to certain events, implicating Republicans vs Democrat officials. I'm not even conservative I just call this shit out.

Btw, how much do you americans believe that the reason people seem to either hate or love trump is, because he leaves a lasting impression more so than anyone else involved with politics?

Trump up-ended the system. He obliterated this facade that a LOT of people trusted in regarding how the world works. He blatantly exposed the mainstream media. He also exposed a lot of corruption within the government - unfortunately he's not holding up his promise to deal with it all quickly as I'd hoped. What's funny to me is that 99% of people who don't like Trump hate him the wrong reasons, or made up nonsense, or media lies. Trump is actually pretty liberal overall it's just that radicals have shifted far left.

As evidenced by the picture, it is NOT for 'representative'. Most identification of politicians is put up as 'Title - Name (party), Location' as shown in JG's screen shot, or some variation of that. But the letter in parnthesis is ALWAYS party affiliation. It shows the 'Governor - Ralph Northam (R), Virginia'. Watch any major news channel for 5min and you'll see this is the pattern. 'Senator Mitch McConnell (R) Majority Leader', 'Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D) Hawaii', 'Sen. Kamala Harris (D) California'.

It's possible it was a typo indicating the incorrect party, but it is a common way of denoting party affiliation, not position.
