I'd recommend anyone who finds themselves upset by something they read in here to take a break, walk outside and enjoy the fresh air, and consider this is just a chat board where people are trying to share ideas. There isn't a win to be had, just a chance to gain perspective and either validate or adjust your beliefs on things. If it is upsetting, walk away for a bit. That's a lot better than getting irate, posting in such a state..

Not every opinion needs to be rationalised or justified

I'm not sure if TLB's post was aimed at me in any way, but when people call me a fascist (by association or otherwise) or a racist or a member of the alt-right, I will defend myself. I think that's the natural reaction... I don't need fresh air, figuratively or otherwise. I was just outside a second ago and I'm quite stoned and chill.
I realise this is a forum, too, but the opinions on this forum represent the opinions (to some extent) of other people in the world. People on the right - particularly Trump supporters - aren't treated fairly. Like I said in the Trump thread, calling Trump Hitler is crazy and it is offensive to everybody in his administration, everybody who voted for him and anybody else who likes him. The implication is that these people are all Nazis. I don't see why this is an acceptable thing to say. I don't want it to be censored, I'd just like to discuss it because - frankly - it offends me on a personal level to be treated this way. I don't need advice. I know what I'm doing. People who don't like Trump are so opposed to him that they hate on his followers. I've experienced this in so many different contexts. I never saw it with Obama... But I saw it with Bush... why is that?

i don't think any US president has been anything but right wing - but trump represents a lurch towards the sort of dictatorship that the USA has never been.

i can't for a moment begin to relate to anyone that doesn't find trump utterly abhorrent - humour me for a second.
i'm bored of this whole "trump's not a racist/fascist/rapist" conversation, so i'd be interested to hear the answers to three questions.

1. what do you think of his relationship with putin?

2. what do you think of his continuous lies?

3. what would it take for you to say "he's gone too far"?

I tend to think his relationship with Putin is a departure from any other prior for the better.

Or could be for the much worse, depending on if it's all bullshit.

Why should the 2 nations be enemies and rivals, seriously.

The benefit of having at least two competing world powers is competition and no total authorization of the world yet the escalation of nuclear threats etc is destabilizing.

Is it worth having the ruskies as the enemy forever?

Maybe he is actually star struck.

He is not used to mingling with Putin. Remember he is a noob?

If it were me, I have as much experience in office as Trump. I would be in awe of him . Why? He is Putin, totally in control, so scary I think I might be a masochist.

I'm waiting on a flight now, I am fascinated with Putin is all. I know he is horrible and would never be able to defend some shit he has done but yeah am more keen on knowing more about him than Trump, he is lame as hell compared to Putin.

maybe trump's compromised and they have a lot of dirt on him?
beyond his perversions, of course, which are no secret.

what if trump is a traitor? if his actions do constitute treason?

would people still give him a pass, or hold him to account?

My words are aimed at anyone interested in posting in the forum. Anyone, which includes myself. I'm jealous of the stoned and chilled moment you snagged.

One point I will also make is that there is a difference between reaction and response. I think you're right, such a reaction to being called those terms is to defend ones self. I've stated earlier, pointing to myself as an example, is that each of us needs to recognize - are we being called those terms, or are we taking them as applied to us? Either way, there is an emotional reaction that isn't real controllable. However, where I encourage adult participation is to give the pause and get past the reaction, to focus on how you (general you, not ANT specific) choose to respond to the words.

^Interesting. Perhaps often times we are assuming we're being called things that we aren't... perhaps that's our subconscious telling us we're something our conscious mind cannot agree with.

Trump admits "I'M A NATIONALIST"...

and "There's ISIS in the Caravans!"

and then "There's NO PROOF of it, there's NO PROOF of it,"

Almost anyone else lying this much would lose their jobs fairly quickly.

P.S. Nationalists would go to war with the cartels, gain some land out of it and not raise the deficit. We'd also go back to war with DPRK and have informal agreements with China, Russia etc. to let us do what we do as we'll turn a blind eye to their parallel shit (Crimea, muslim camps and sea islands etc)

What if Trump is a super genius, utilizing ham fisted manipulation of media to both distract and generate energy while working behind the scenes to achieve global relations unthinkable in decades? What if those relations lead to more prosperity for all working together, rather than nations wasting effort working against one another?

What if Trump is actually gay (or at least bi-curious) and these sexual escapades are a means of fighting his inner urges for personal exploration? He acts sexist towards women so as to mask his true feelings for the likes of Kavanaugh? If not intentional, and simply a subconscious reaction to facing his true self, should he really be held accountable for what is obviously not his true self?

What if Trump's domestic policies continue to improve employment numbers, retirement options, and actually pivots health care for Americans into something that both lowers costs for the individuals (lowering it across the industry, at each layer between American - Doctors - Insurance - Pharma - etc) and at the same time can improve the quality of that offering for the people?

What if Trump's true goal really is dictatorship, but one of benevolence and sacrificing himself for the greater good of all?

What if Trump isn't real, but merely a collective projection of so many people's unspoken demons and worst imaginings run amok on a national stage?

What if Trump didn't eat his veggies growing up, and that's why his skin is orange and he is cranky (constipated much?) with his attitude and outbursts?

What if Trump is the only real person here, and the rest of us are simply HIS imagination for a night?

What if....can be an odd game to play when you don't have to base it on facts. Which, by nature of being a 'what if', the question is asking you to assume things that may not be in existence today. What if we all got high and made this a bit easier?

Trump is actually more like a globalist than a nationalist, so yes it is possible he is lying about everything; a tough macho attitude for the tiny fat kid holding a snow cone in the middle of summer on the inside.

improve employment numbers

lmao, are you serious? You know unemployment and underemployment are combined at like 15%? When 50% of the population is already upset with him, and the right leaning people all don't have jobs, are you serious?

The whole "I fixed the economy!" thing is a lie. Every other day the stock market drops at least 100 points. Artificially inflated index due to unrealistic tax practices. Wait for the bubble to burst.

1. what do you think of his relationship with putin?

I think it's been inflated like George W. Bush's so-called relationship with the Saudis. Like I said earlier, I'm not into conspiratorial nonsense. Is there any evidence that his "relationship" with Putin is problematic in any way?

2. what do you think of his continuous lies?

Every politician lied. Obama was a liar. JFK was a liar. If anything, Trump is more honest than most because some of the stuff he says is actually unfiltered. Also, he doesn't have speech writers. Obama was reading from cue cards, carefully designed to make him look good, pander to the current climate, and advance his career.

3. what would it take for you to say "he's gone too far"?

What has he even done wrong, so far?

I don't care if they build the wall and temporarily banning people from certain volatile countries makes sense to me.

Why should the 2 nations be enemies and rivals, seriously.

This is also my attitude towards Trump / Putin. Trump's attitude is less likely to piss off a very dangerous man than Obama's.

Trump hasn't proposed any of this or done any of it, to my knowledge. Let's stick to the actual presidency.

What if....can be an odd game to play when you don't have to base it on facts.

Indeed.

The ONLY serious statement I made is the last sentence. I'm serious.

TLB in the last sentence of his previous post said:

Can't smoke up until 420... and it's 9:30 in the morning, here.

But I'm going to take your advice and whip myself up a dexamfetamine / xanax cocktail. :)

(Funny how everybody slinked away from the whole fascist thing.)

I sorta answered it but you might have missed it.

I saw it. :)

I actually want to have a discussion comparing policies and the impact of Trump's presidency. I don't see how he's done any harm and I don't see how his policies are separate from typical conservative policies.

If he is basically a typical conersative, when it comes to actual policy, I don't see why everyone pretends like they're not just being anti-Republican.

Like I said, it happened with Bush.

Name a right wing president in the past 50 years it hasn't happened to.

This ignorant anti-Republican bias isn't getting us anywhere.

Ignorant or educated, the anti-Republican bias is the bend of this sites political forum. It's like jumping into a frozen lake = you can decide to get out, or just get numb to it and try to swim. MOST of the posters are anti-Republican, but the nature of any political forum is that it needs people of all perspectives to try and enlighten one another with reason and facts, otherwise it becomes an echo chamber that may stroke your own beliefs, but never challenges them or helps you grow :\ I will say, you may have a hard time pegging the forum as a whole, because people are all over the left half of the spectrum - there is a great variety in that sense.

"Economy fixed! Jobs bigly!" - Anonymous Moron

I told you all to wait for the bubble to burst.

Yeah, I was just checking my 401k. F'n hit hard. Wonder what's driving it though. Is it truly a bubble pop from Trump policies, or angst over upcoming elections (thought that might hit closer to Nov 6), or what? I'm sure media will spin it a dozen ways. Like anything, I'm here to ride it out.

I'm not demanding the nature of this forum change. I'm just challenging various people to an actual discussion about politics, of which - it seems - nobody is willing to have... Nobody is saying the economy is fixed. DJ always fluctuates. Some presidents (like Obama) have more of an uphill battle than others. Doesn't signify anything about how good or bad a job Trump is doing, IMO.
