I’m half glad to see confused fucking shit like this being posted, but also half disappointed that our resident snowflakes have not exercised their right to freeze peach and called this sort of shit out for being consfused fucking shit and all the rest.

That’s all I have to contribute to this thread and I half apologise to CEP for this.

Thx for listening chums xoxo

Nah, I'm sensitive to white privilege for sure, but that is a great example of being judged by the color of your skin. Not to say I don't sympathize with the frustration or the reason someone would say that. It's just not black and white (no racial implication intended there, just using the classic turn of phrase, and accidentally punned).

trumpenproletariat perfectly summed up in one image:

How exactly, in the context of today’s discussion, is that an example of being judged by the colour of your skin though?

The image, to me, disingenuously depicts a POC attempting to communicate systemic racism to a white person. To turn it around as though POC confront white people for kicks and act as though whitey couldn’t ever possibly have had a hardship in his life is just so off point I CANT EVEN. Like, let’s be real here.

White people do not experience the judgement and resulting discrimination that POC do, and I can’t see how anyone can dispute this fact tbh - I’m def open to listening tho. But that meme just reeks of confusion if I’m being kind, and nasty, grossc racist dismissal when you get to the less charitable thinking side of things.

Not meaning to turn this thread into a shitfight either cos I do enjoy scrolling through without seeing that, so carry on lads and others I’m going to go pat cats now ty xx

reactionaries have massive victim and persecution complexes. i mean shit, they claim that white women not having sex with them because they're scum is "white genocide".

they believe that equality is exactly that, that by losing their supremacy they're being harmed for being white

Yes, and those that you speak of are extreme and ridiculous. SHADOW however though is not afaik, so I’m not sure how that’s relevant tbh, because I wouldn’t lump him in with the reactionary incels and the “they” that you speak of, even though I obviously had a different response and interpretation of that image than he did. I’m much more interested in discussing the feelings of more moderate people regarding these issues than I am with feeding in or giving anything to the right wing extremist posters here.

Ignore avoid.

I think that people can be told they don't experience the same discrimination and even tell others that (halfheartedly), but it doesn't really evoke an emotional response or understanding until something happens to them that really sets it in. At least that was my experience.

I think I truly became aware of it during my time as an aide for an English as a Second Language (ESL) class. There were a lot of stories from that class, but in particular the school faculty and any substitutes were really dismissive and almost retributive against the kids. Communication was difficult and often they would just ignore the kids or get angry at them. Anyways over time I'd become pretty close with a lot of these kids just talking to them and helping them with their math homework and stuff, so I started getting annoyed when I would see them treated like they were stupid or it was their fault they didn't speak English. Once a substitute asked me immediately upon entering, "Are they prone to fighting or stealing?" I'm sure he could see the disgust on my face because he pretty much stayed quite and let me run the class.

hey mel mel. i got a question for you...

do you think this accurately depicts how white people are judged by POC?

to the room: they are being posted for sake of conversation and not for getting reactions out of people or to show i'm a racist d**k.
