Political Satire and Meme Megathread

Satire is not really intended on being lulz, more a dry, wry pisstake I think. A lot of it can be very funny, but looking at political cartoons from various publishings, I did not rofl, just a raised eyebrow and sid not lol, appreciate the deliberate exaggeration of the subject's features.

Although satire is usually meant to be humorous, its greater purpose is often constructive social criticism, using wit to draw attention to both particular and wider issues in society.

Memes are more lol to me, one I would like to put up re twin towers is basically just stating "how did we go from this incident to political correctness of today", which is on point as when the planes hit, around that time and prior, there was not any fear of being labelled a racist/bigot, Islam was not really a subject talked about without walking on eggshells.

I wont put it up, but technically agree with the point it makes.

i have no doubt that its racist and offensive but damnit i still think it's hilarious. invegauser's response is the correct way to handle being told you posted something offensive; denying it, blaming the victim, and telling people to "lighten up and learn to take a joke" or whatever is just a bullshit attempt to justify being intentionally offensive while refusing to take responsibility for being a dick. grow the fuck up and take responsibility

You see, this is a problem, what if someone NOT immune to the system thought exactly as you did, posted a name they thought was v funny yet also racist etc got banned for it? Because that's happened as you well know.

It's all well and good for you, I wouldn't put up anything that remotely touched on race as there is a disparity between us following the rules and you guys, theres no point in denying it. I doubt anyone would intend offense but it very often the intent of our posts are already judged .

If that's the case, I would think it was made by someone who was disgruntled with our choice of candidates (I was in that camp). It's almost like a sarcastic "how will I ever choose? Both options are soooo great"... I don't fuckin know.

I was very tempted to post some memes that touch on racism yet are funny, I'm not going to here as I just dont really want to go there, the "testing the boundaries" thing is really stupid, I'm not saying I dont have racist views on certain topics, but I dont want to go there here personally but dont care if anyone else does.
