This seems like a very weak argument. Okay, so Trump's a bigot. Functionally the same, discriminating based on a grouping. Like he is a mysoginist.
For the record I don't think he is a bigot or a racist, or even misogynist. He's a masculine, high-status lothario. Cool, so was JFK and he was our last good president. The first woman to oversee a skyscraper construction was under Trump. He had women executives making more $ than male counterparts based on performance. He fought legal battles for racial equality. His policies are helping minorities and there are countless minorities (that you all ignore) that support Trump, sing his praises and will unequivocally state that he is not racist. So when he actually DOES something racist - let me know. Until then, my evidence of
actions trumps yours of
subjective interpretation of words.
Most recently the "tariff war"... the ramifications for our country are already being felt, and will only escalate. It's a dangerous situation. China is threatening retaliation in the face of even more tariffs right now. Yes, we should never have outsourced so much of our manufacturing, that was stupid and short-sighted. But this is not the way to fix it.
Why aren't you blaming China for anything?
This has gone on for a while.
China has made their economy on selling to the US and then they tariff US goods to make theirs more competitive.
Ever since China opened up their markets to the world/West they've continuously messed with their own currency and implemented tariffs.
Trump's goal here is to pressure China to remove or reduce some of their tariffs.
So threaten them with a trade war - the US will suffer an extremely slight, temporary hit but China will buckle first as the US is their largest trade partner.
The US trades more with Mexico and other countries and doesn't need China.
To avoid a trade war the German auto industry relaxed their tariffs on US imports. Xi should've accepted negotiations. He will eventually though.
Trump said:
"If the U.S. sells a car into China, there is a tax of 25%. If China sells a car into the U.S., there is a tax of 2%. Does anybody think that is FAIR? The days of the U.S. being ripped-off by other nations is OVER!"
What's interesting is that the Left has an inverted sense of what is right and wrong compared to what they were saying a decade ago.
Today it's:
Corporate censorship = good
Corporate profits = good
Tariffs to protect American workers and hopefully snuff out some of the slavery in China = bad
