The 2018 Trump Presidency thread

well zeph, your right. he isn't solely responsible for it. that's why government can't step in here and say "hey, don't do that" to corporations.

he is a main figure and leader in that regard though.

7. Guardian of the Economy

In this role, the president is concerned with such things as unemployment, high prices, taxes, business profits, and the general prosperity of the country. The president does not control the economy, but is expected to help it run smoothly.
Examples of Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with economic advisors to discuss ways to reduce unemployment
  • Meeting with business and labor leaders to discuss their needs and problems

https://www.scholastic.com/teachers/articles/teaching-content/seven-roles-one-president/

businessman regardless of ideally speaking, do not make good politicians. they make better advisors. that's not to say not all politicians who are/have been businessman are bad at their jobs.

it's just to say that a grifter who's only knowledge in this life is business is not an ideal candidate to be the president of the united states. bottom line is not bottom dollar in this country.

maga through despicable behavior and value of a dollar has no positive outcome for this country imho.

1. Mass deregulation.

2. Tax breaks.

3. Higher consumer confidence

Tried and tested formula for growth. He's not doing anything amazing it's just that Obama wanted to destroy the United States.

oh good we go from the racist card to the race card.

i guess we skipped the clown card. oh wait both have been accused of that.

i remember learning of a party boston once threw back in grade school. i see those taxes we tried to run away from really did this country a service. depressions, wars and unemployment. but thank god we have the jews backing us up with their banking system, not like the italians weren't doing a swell enough job of that before during the renaissance era.

my grandparents can't even live off the meager stipend they get from the government even though they busted their butts off putting into the system and did make america great during their time.

mass deregulation did wonders in my parents day and age. most of the jobs got sent over seas. the struggle to get those jobs back are now putting political, financial and social strains on this country. shall we talk of the fear that unions strike in some people in this country. badda bing badda boom and your sleeping with the fishes. real nice labor unions. UK has it going on, they have prostitution unions, now that is something a man can get behind.

higher consumer confidence is definitely helping people out. using their electronic devices instead of their brains, they get fed all sorts of useful info instead of having to think for themselves. is that why hillary and trump were both on the ballot?! thanks mtv, your the greatest.

Terrible isn't it. And who's responsible for that? Bill Clinton's policies led to the criminal financial crisis under Bush. instead of fixing the system for us, they gave $26 trillion of our money to criminal banks. Obama continued this and did nothing to change it or hold anyone accountable. So why wouldn't you vote for someone try and change that??

most of the jobs got sent over seas. the struggle to get those jobs back are now putting political, financial and social strains on this country.
Help! Too many jobs! Maybe we can look into increasing immigration for high-skilled workers.

^ where exactly are these supposed jobs? All I see is factories shutting down and outsourcing production overseas because of trumps tariff wars.

oh yes, because since my grandparents day and age there has been only bush, bush, obama and clinton in office. great point!

japan is ahead of you on that one, they planned ahead for the nafta/zombie nafta deal by getting ready to hire more foreign workers. though your contradicting the person your supporting. those immigrants who are high skilled wouldn't get into this country if they were middle eastern or mexican. just like if the cure for cancer or aids was in a black womans head we would never know about it.

Yeah but there are people out there that are willing to actually change their minds upon the review of new evidence.

Such hypocrisy.
Your "trump isn't a racist" garbage has been debunked over and over again - yet you keep posting it.

When people say you (and your banned "liquid method" account) are trolling, that is why. If you are offended by trump critics, that's tough, but your efforts at shutting discussion on this page (demanding more evidence you will ignore) with your denialist nonsense will never change the fact that your emporer wears no clothes.
He's just the king of the hateful and the gullible, steeped in corruption, fraud and bigotry. :p

No he doesn't.
sure he does. "that judge can't do his job because he's mexican" is racist. that is the very definition of racist. but you continually deny it.

If you honestly believe he says racist stuff, then you would be willing to state that Hillary Clinton and Bill Maher are more racist than Trump (yet you refuse).
bill maher is a smarmy douche who can be pretty funny but who also has a questionable record on race, particularly when it comes to muslims.

last friday, the bureau of labor stats reported that payrolls increased by 201k in august. that's the 95th consecutive month that employers added jobs. trump's been in office for 20 months of that period. yes the economy is doing well but to suggest this all changed and started last february is just naive - or deliberately obtuse - absurdity.

...it's just that Obama wanted to destroy the United States.
that's just hyperbolic - 'obama derangement syndrome' - nonsense and i suspect you know it...

Bigger pay raises are coming for millions of Americans thanks to sinking unemployment

MarketWatch said:
The throbbing U.S. economy is finally delivering a bigger payday for Americans workers and it?s likely to get better.

The increase in the typical worker?s pay has risen 2.9% in the past year, marking the highest level since the end of the Great Recession in mid-2009.

Rising wages reflect a surging economy that?s driven unemployment down to 3.9% and slashed layoffs to a nearly 50-year low.

By all indications, wages are going to keep going up. Companies have to compete harder to fill a record number of job openings, and better pay and benefits are their most effective weapons.

Some economists predict wage growth will top 3% within a few months. And by early next year it could start edging up toward this century?s high water mark of 3.6%.

?The labor market is tight. That is a reality,? said Tom Porcelli, chief U.S. economist at RBC Capital Markets.

Felons and dropouts

Many companies, especially smaller ones, are howling about a shortage of skilled labor. Some desperate to keep baby boomers from retiring and others have resorted to hiring ex-felons and other job candidates they normally would shun.

oh yes, because since my grandparents day and age there has been only bush, bush, obama and clinton in office. great point!

The 90's were a very prosperous and peaceful time for the nation. What happened since 9/11, politically and economically? I actually care - as do a lot of others who voted for Trump

sure he does. "that judge can't do his job because he's mexican" is racist. that is the very definition of racist. but you continually deny it.
Actually by definition that would be bigotry as Mexican is not a race as we've discussed ad nauseum. That's the only legitimate example. Are you going to hold that one comment over Trump as a reason to hate him, assassinate his character and consider him unqualified for the presidency? If that's your reason then you should hate Hillary more for calling black youth "super predators" which is actually a racist comment. Will you state that Hillary is at least racist, if not more racist than Trump?

bill maher is a smarmy douche who can be pretty funny but who also has a questionable record on race, particularly when it comes to muslims.
Non-answer. He said "I'm a house n**ga". Does Trump have a questionable record on race? Is Maher a racist?

Blatant double standards..

that's just hyperbolic - 'obama derangement syndrome' - nonsense and i suspect you know it...
I actually think that Obama will be charged with treason one of these days (the ones who will call me crazy are the ones that believe Trump can be charged with treason, though).

^ you realize that you only have to work an hour a week to be considered "employed", don't you? You see deceptive numbers, I see closed down factories and unemployed people, the homeless aren't factored into that number, nor are people who haven't applied for work in the last 4 weeks, making that number massively deceptive.

bigger pay raises: http://www.valuesandcapitalism.com/what-actually-happens-when-you-raise-the-minimum-wage/ factories close down so we throw more money at people who have jobs but where are the new jobs?

9/11 huh?!: lois griffin running for mayor... town citizen- ? lois- "9/11" town citizen- ? lois- "9/11" ... ya, you get the point. trump is happy his tower is still standing. the 90's were a plateau politically speaking.

mexicans have less claim to spanish blood than any other race the conquistadors ran across. they are a mix of mostly north, south and central american native americans. the diversity in their DNA is actually greater than that of a lot of countries. they count as a race and culture. in this case Trump is a bigot and a racist. the more you know (insert star here). and your right, one legitimate example is not enough. i think i should bang my toe against the table again because i'm pretty sure when i do that it doesn't hurt but feels really good. nope it still hurts. i should hate that table for causing me pain at the same time i should deny the pain is real. who in their right mind doesn't see one solid proof of evidence stating that someone is a racist and doesn't believe it?! can trump change? yes. does he want to? probably not. split hairs much?!

trump is a racist and bill maher is a comedian so he can be a racist and funny without having to admit he's a racist (it's called a grey area). unless he knocked on your front door and convinced you he is a racist how would you know. double standards in your judgement when being confronted by truth does not lay so much in the grey area. very black and white that is.

ohh, we whisper things under our breath with format now. guess what, obama is going to save his race card just for such an event cause he knows it will really keep people like you up late at night using social media and websites when he doesn't get charged with treason. ppsssttt! three outcomes for trump. impeached, killed by mob or walks away like a smug prick having ruined this country and dumb people happily jump up and down saying "see, i was right." while this country goes down the pipe. win, win, lose.

c'mon JGrimez. your smarter than this. relying on quick fact checking, attacking people, denial and being obtuse is beneath you and no way to influence a large enough group of people to change their minds. trying to influence someone to change their mind about anything doesn't happen with insulting them, talking down to them, not listening to them, reverting to only facts nor denying your own falsehoods and downsides.

trump sued bill maher for calling his father a monkey.

Donald Trump
makes it awfully easy for people to get under his skin. Last month on Jay Leno, the comedian Bill Maher called the billionaire real estate mogul a liar and a "terrible racist" and spoke of "the syphilitic monkey who does his Twitter feed,"

that's the pot calling the kettle black.

Could this have been due to anything other than the Trump presidency? A Pew Research Center study from last June found the answer to be no. The researchers explained: "Although he has only been in office a few months, Donald Trump's presidency has had a major impact on how the world sees the United States. Trump and many of his key policies are broadly unpopular around the globe, and ratings for the U.S. have declined steeply in many nations."

https://www.cnbc.com/2018/04/03/how-trump-has-weakened-the-worlds-view-of-the-us.html

The White House’s chief economic adviser, Kevin Hassett, admitted that Donald Trump had been wrong to claim that GDP growth was higher than the unemployment rate for the first time in 100 years.

Trump: Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.

https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/08/us/donald-trump-tape-transcript.html

The only one I'm showing any rudeness to is spacejunk for obvious reasons. I don't think you're personally attacking me but I could just as easily call you obtuse for denying improvements in the economy. I agree insulting people doesn't help change their minds which is why I refrain from doing so. I cop a few insults though!

trump is a racist and bill maher is a comedian so he can be a racist and funny without having to admit he's a racist
And Hillary? Where's the equal condemnation and seething hatred based on her comment?

edit: I also just literally corrected a mistake that Trump made about the figures, so...

denying your own falsehoods and downsides.

improvements in a small window that put the economy back to where it was for a short time plus help inflate ideas to the american public is not pulling ones ass out of the fire. it's more like a breather. the national debt is still the same if not worse.

trump and hillary - your assuming one is better than the other.

uh huh. you and trump correct a lot of mistakes, oops, i mean need to correct a lot of mistakes. for someone who posted a meme about learning from history, you sure come across as presumptuous.

you walk into someones house and are rude to them?

wow, you really like to grab em by the balls and show them how much pussy you have. err, reverse that?! nah!

maybe just leave the house if you feel insulted. this is a free country isn... no this is an internet forum so not quiet literally a house.

so when you get proven that your wrong on something your supposed to be rude to the person who corrected you. that's what i've been getting wrong all these years. or trump has. or you have. or wait, i'm confused.

did you get corrected and are being rude to someone?!

the national debt is still the same if not worse.
The DoD has "lost" $20 trillion. Only one president has audited them - Trump. If he tracks down even a fraction of that money, will that help?
Who would you rather have running the country - a conniving lawyer or a motivated businessman?

trump and hillary - your assuming one is better than the other.
No I'm just trying to get some intellectual honesty from the people still clinging to the belief that Trump is a racist.
Will any of those people admit that what Hillary said was more racist than anything Trump has said - and therefore will they also state that she is a racist? (and subsequently unqualified for president - if that's considered a legitimate strike against Trump)

for someone who posted a meme about learning from history, you sure come across as presumptuous.
I used to be pro Obama.
I used to be pro Bernie.
I used to be anti Trump.
Sometimes we learn stuff and change our minds. It takes courage to say "I was wrong".

you walk into someones house and are rude to them?
I'll be polite and respectful and hear someone's argument. If they're rude to me I'm rude back pretty simple and fair.

wow, you really like to grab em by the balls and show them how much pussy you have. err, reverse that?! nah!
lol I've been infracted for saying sexist comments like that.

maybe just leave the house if you feel insulted. this is a free country isn... no this is an internet forum so not quiet literally a house.
I don't feel insulted. I'm not even insulted by racist jokes. I don't feign offense at stuff. But I do take examples and compare them in order to highlight hypocrisy.

did you get corrected and are being rude to someone?!
I don't think I've been rude to you at all but you've taken quite an adversarial tone.
The worst I've done is dismantle some of your arguments.

conniving lawyer or self motivated businessman? ftfy. answer: what's the difference?!

oh i don't believe trump is a racist, i know he is. it's now a fact. and hillary is no better and also a racist. you don't listen when i speak, it's not selective hearing, i have that, it's genetic. what you have is the same thing trump does, it's called sore loser poor winner complex.

if you stand for nothing you will fall for anything but a black man said that so neither trump, hillary or jgrimez will hear that for what it is. also being wishy washy doesn't give a person much ground to stand on. being convicted comes out in everyone's words on this site and in this thread. behavior is the mirror in which our true selves is revealed. the sum of trumps words and actions far outweighs his positive actions.

so if someone shows you the truth, that's reason to be rude?! trump and grimez 2020

oh i was definitely being rude to you while staying on topic of trump. you support him and he gives you fodder so it's only fair their is some fodder to opinionate against what you are arguing.

they're being rude to me but i'm not insulted. good trump tactic being stand off-ish until your point gets heard.

dismantle yes, understand and hear anyone's ideas, truths and opinions here... no. god you like to really bring this right around back on trump level don't you. i see how you are one of his biggest supporters, you've got the trump manual down to the point your a better trump than he is sometimes.
