Health Canada's prescription opioid stickers will warn of addiction risk

Pregnancy is the worst time to get off opiates. It's very important while pregnant that your opiate intake be stable. Having a baby born opiate dependant isn't ideal, but opiate withdrawal can quite easily cause a miscarriage so it's still a lot safer for the mother to be on opioid substitution therapy for the pregnancy then ween the baby (or ideally both mother and child) off after delivery.

It really can't be stressed enough, people who pressure pregnant women to go cold turkey are being totally reckless and irresponsible.

It still depends who you are in Canada. Some groups in particular still have very little access to quality treatment.

I think that is true for a lot of the countries. Makes me wonder what the people who are in charge thinks. They obv dont know to much abt addiction.
When not offering decent treatment to all those in need they create an even bigger sosio problem and additional costs to society.
seems like they dont really care as long as its not comming out of their budget.
That is until election is comming up....

like foreigner writes..a sticker will not make an addicted pregnant woman stop her druguse. That is a waste of money.
If they would rather give her acsess to proper treatment they would proberly have saved a lot of money in the long run.not to mention QOL for both the mother and the child. Which cant be given any pricetag at all

The stickers probably wont have that much of an effect but I still think they're a good thing. Its never bad to educate the public...

Not sure I entirely agree. I mean it's hard to disagree with educating people, but a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing.

Only thing worse than an uninformed person is an uninformed person who thinks they're informed.
