Mass Shootings and Gun Debate 2018 Thread

Nope. It's so lazy trying to conflate this into a tribal 'left-right' thing. Not that you are, btw, but it's what's going on in this thread.

People who think allowing random Joe's access to assault rifles or who don't think gun regs are exactly working as they should are the ones who want to change things.

Which includes some incredibly right-wing US relatives of mine.

“The left” has folks that believe in the second amendment, in that it’s a right, regardless of how scary looking a weapon is. I have yet to meet anyone on ‘the right’ that was for gun bans/confiscation. I’d say like 15% of fringe liberals are for extreme gun regulation, and that 15% is very vocal being very young and on social media/ in the media itself. Not trying to be a gatekeeper, but this is how I see things currently in the US. Many of my sanders supporting friends are admantly pro second amendment, especially after seeing Clinton rig the primaries so seamlessly against their candidate. Then you have the far left, like tathra, that sees the second amendment as a means to have a violent communist revolution, they aren’t giving up their rights anytime soon. The issue is multi faceted ime

The 2nd amendment is there for us to fight our own army if it becomes tyrannical.
dude, the u.s. government has done a lot of tyrannical things in the last 20 years - lied about weapons of mass destruction to take the country to war, carried out the most widespread assault on personal privacy in the form of warrant less wire-tapping and the 'patriot' act, handed over millions of dollars of public money to the ceos and others at banks who broke the law and plunged the country into a massive debt crisis, etc.

what are you waiting for?

^ don’t forget a sitting president used a phoney document to spy on an opposing presidential candidate. Talk about banana republic. So since our government has done some shady stuff in the past and no one took up arms against the govenment then we need to disarm? I don’t get that logic admittedly.

come on droppers. are you being deliberately obtuse?

i'm not saying disarm. i'm saying many gun lovers say they need weapons to fight government oppression. well, the government has been shitting on you (plural) for years. what are you waiting for? rise up and fight back!

Naw that was a serious question. I think it would have to get as bad as it is in the UK right now, for America to ever take any sort of stand, and even then it would likely only be the fringes that acted out. There would need to be gross violation of the first and fourth amendments in the form of very visible example that would enrage the population. I don’t foresee armed conflict anywhere in the near future, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t vigilantly defend our constitutional rights.

Actively trying to start a war with the state will justify the state killing me and ppl like me.

The government hasn?t pointed the guns at us yet so it would be in violation of the NAP if I did something.

It?s all predetermined. The state will come. And like Vietnamese rice farmers, we will prevail because the state fails at everything it tries

You're proving the point.
Look at what the government is capable of, so you can't really argue that they couldn't get worse.
And yes indeed, if every single gun owner (and non-gun owner) knew the full truth of exactly what the government was up to, then they would rise up with their "assault rifles" and do something about it. Hence why the government is pushing for gun confiscation. Hence the need for the second amendment.

Also Trump is president. The Left think that Trump is an authoritarian ruler/dictator, yet they want to relinquish all guns to his govt?
Are they aware of what followed when the Germans did that?

@droppersneck

The state itself is a gross human rights violation. I don?t see the issue

@Jgrimz

I actually did like Trump until the whole Jersaulem thing. Then the ?confiscate guns first, due process second? was total cancer.

He is by far my favorite president when it comes to absouletely trolling looney ass liberals however. Him and Ben Shapiro. Watching liberals cry when they don?t get their way is amazing

^^^^ I agree I get called names all the time on this but as soon as I say something I get told to shush.

Double standards m8

Why should I be helping admin do there jobs?

Plus the political bias on a drug website of all places is very very liberal authoritarian too
