Barcelona: Terrorist Attack on Las Ramblas

I'm so sick of seeing these tired and weak arguments recycled. Leftism truly is a mental illness

Christians and Jews aren't going around literally interpreting violent parts of the Bible. Societies have secularised, it doesn't happen. Even the Westboro Baptist church, awful as they are, don't go around butchering people.

If you are unaware of Christian extremist violence, just say so.

BTW Escher's are you gay? You said the Bible says people like you should be killed.

Nope. Pretty damn straight. But Old Testament is full of a bunch of shit you can get killed for. Y'all don't know fundamentalist Christianity.

Christian extremist violence is incredibly negligible compared to Islamic extremism. Where your examples of this happening?

And the important difference is that christians follow Jesus example, and you cannot justify violence following his example. The OT is not as important to christians. It's just not. The whole tone and content is so different.

Anyway you didn't respond to anything else I put to you.

Look, very simply:

- not all Muslims are bad
-bad things written in their book
-some Ppl follow these bad things
-this is a big problem because ppl keep dying.

You continually bringing up Christianity is off topic and pathetic.

Trey Parker and Matt stone wrote a play called the book of Mormon. The Mormons responded by saying "hey if you guys like the play, come and try the real thing sometime"

Charlie Hebdo drew cartoons of Muhammad. 12 of them were killed. Riots all over the world after the Danish cartoons in 2006.

Charlie Hebdo used to draw Jesus alot too. Nothing ever happened besides a few pissed off Catholics complaining.

I been saying it for years now, people need to get tough with Islamic extremists. There a fuckin cancer to the world.

It will be ok though because we stand with Barcelona and change Fb profile pic to the Barcelona flag. That will stop them.

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law - a man's enemies will be the members of his own household."

Does the New Testament state that all non-believers must be killed?
If so, then it is also a disgusting ideology that must be regarded as such.
AFAIK it leans more towards forgiveness of your fellow man.

While the new testament does focus on good values which it did not invent and are inherent human traits rooted on social cooperation during evolution of humans, christianity and churches should also be banned along the same lines.

Despite what the new testatment teaches, christians still teach hate and exclusion towards the gay community, they promote the promote the illegality of drugs through a morality-based labeling of drug users as sinners.

Religions are just a way to divide people, they should ALL be done away with and their temples torn down (kudos to china and some other asian countries for taking such measures)

People need to get real and accept that they don't know if there is a god or how the uinverse got here, we dont know what happens when you die...these are the facts. we do not know, god has never shown himself, and we have so much scientific evidence against holy books that they should all be viewed as false. These are scary things for people to accept, so they hide from these truths through religions which are clearly full of shit.

Sort of.
I would classify the two most destructive states in the world as the USA (Christian state) and Israel (Jewish). One of the reasons that the USA is so supportive of Israel is because the Bible says that the Jews must be in control of the Holy Land for the Messiah to return. All the Abrahamic religions seem to be evil and violent. It's just that the Muslims are currently the ones that are a direct danger to Westerners and tourists in random places.

I agree with your post, except I believe that there is some truth to these religious doctrines. Let's say 1% of it is real. That's the part that hooks people in. The problem is with people taking the scriptures as gospel. Instead of "read this for clues" it becomes "God wrote this personally".

Lies are easier to digest when they're wrapped in truth

Yes this quote is always brought up.

1. its truly a bizzare verse, and really does not fit into the rest of what jesus said

2. theres a strong basis for arguing this verse intended to be taken metaphorically. Why? because jesus didn't go and kill anyone after he said this. he didn't try and turn people against each other. Context is everything here. Muhammad on the other hand....lived the life of an evil warlord, killing like a madman, and raping a 9 year old girl.

I can't say I agree with this, but its a plausible argument in some regards

I 100% support Israel's right to exist. The Jewish people have really copped it throughout history and deserve a place to live. Israel is a beacon of democracy and freedom in the festering pile of crap known as the middle east.

The USA has made many many mistakes. Some very inhumane and bad ones. But it is still the guardian and freedom and democracy in the world. No other country has freedoms and rights protected to the same extent. IT truly is the land of the free & home of the brave.

I 100% support Israel's right to exist just not to repeatedly engage in war crimes or violate UN resolutions.

Similar accusation for the US. What's the point of having the UN if some states decide to act unilaterally? I wouldn't say they are a beacon of democracy but they are the best we have for now.
And they're both still run by religious nutters.

CFC, I hope your friends are safe and well.

Thanks cduggles - all safe and accounted for now.

Looks like we were saved a far worse death toll thanks to their gas canisters exploding prematurely. Small blessings.

that's just simply not true. there are plenty of other countries in the world with freedom and rights that equal or exceed those of u.s. citizens - you just don't hear them constantly trumpeting it.

how are you measuring this? the 'human freedom index' (https://www.cato.org/human-freedom-index) takes into account many factors including personal and economic freedom in areas such as: movement; religion; expression; government; security and safety; etc.

in 2015 the u.s. ranked 23rd behind such countries as switzerland, new zealand, canada and the netherlands.

i hear this fairly frequently with regard from scripture. it doesn't fit? you're obviously interpreting it too literally.

it still doesn't fit? you're obviously not interpreting it literally enough.

very convenient.

Saw a pic last night of one of the terrorists. His blood soaked body was lying in the dirt, he had a scared/shocked look on his face. It gave me a nice warm feeling inside.

Wonderful! Thank you for the update. You're right, let's recognize that we are fortunate and blessed just now. You sweetie! I'm so happy you and yours are well. :D

Nope. Very wrong.

No other country has freedom of expression and other essential rights (trial by jury etc) protected in its constitution (bill of rights) to such a degree.

We've recently seen huge erosions of freedom of speech in Europe, the Uk, Canada and Australia.

Say something mean about Muslims on facebook and the "diversity squad" will be knocking on your door.

That BS can't happen in the US.

Nope. Very wrong.
then prove it.

No other country has freedom of expression and other essential rights (trial by jury etc) protected in its constitution (bill of rights) to such a degree.
you have said this a couple of times but simply repeating it doesn't make it true.

here's just one example, off the top of my head, of a documented statement of rights which covers freedom of expression, trial by jury, etc.: canadian charter of rights and freedoms

here's another: bunreacht na héireann (constitution of ireland)
