but free speech is protected by law and that extends to making gifs and posting them online

You know the First Amendment applies only to the US Government attempting to stifle your ideas, right? You have no "protections" posting things, except from them; a website is pretty much private property. And I don't even know what you're going on with now, but the press is free to track down anyone for an interview, the government can't interfere with that (still FA), if they don't steal IDs or trespass or extort, etc.

And they absolutely can censor the president. At least from their airwaves. CNN can say, "we aren't going to show another Trump clip ever again." Imgur or Giphy or whatever absolutely can censor some shit meme, or just yours if they don't like you, you have no "protections" there. Even if they were hosted on US soil.

Your only protection, and it's a big one, is not getting locked up for twenty years for saying the Pres has small hands. He can still sue you and bankrupt you, even if his case has no merit.

And I believe Bluelight answers to the King of New Zealand, a Maori with a bad temper who employs these Australian mods. He could sentence you to death for impugning his character or insulting the Nation for posting pro-Trump drivel on his website, and you would have no legal protections if you set foot on NZ soil, basically the entire south Pacific. I think they have an extradition treaty too.

lol ok so do it.

I still have the right to say whatever I want to say, as long as I follow the rules.
Kinda like IRL.

What message is that?

He used Twitter extensively long before he became president. No-one is forcing him to do so. He chooses to and it cheapens whatever it is he is saying imo.

I disagree. The mainstream media cheapens his message. I receive his tweets directly to my phone so I know what he is up to all the time. It's convenient and I personally prefer to get news straight from him instead of filtered and spun by "news sources" that are in effect PR firms for Clinton and the Democrats.

The most based Maoris are Trump supporters.

If I am within my rights to post on a forum, and someone threatens me or attempts to coerce me not to do that - that is a crime.

You have NO rights to post in any forum.

I can post blatant lies about you too, that's not a crime in the US.

You need to learn the difference between criminal and civil liability. If I post lies about you online, you can sue me in the right jurisdiction (which could be impossible), with no guarantee of winning.

Getting the "news" straight from Trump.....are you really that dumb? The man is a compulsive liar.

I would prefer that you include more than one news agency, how about that. Yes, more than one "mainstream" news outlet, the kind that pay reporters and have insurance policies against lawsuits. Let's go with Agence France Press, so you won't immediately dismiss them, and the BBC. Those two aren't even American, so you can't say they're run by liberal democrats.

I wonder about even calling CNN news, since they and the other two are mostly about the editorials, the "personalities" and their guests who mostly just yell at each other.

Yeah, I'm not saying "listen to Rachael Maddow", I'm saying listen to the News Hour on PBS (if you'd rather not read). You'd be amazed at the stories covered and NOT covered.

He's not the first politician to lie sure; he's the first politician who doesn't care if everyone knows he's lying, and does nothing to attempt to reconcile that image.

Look, people hated Obama, they said all sorts of mean shit about him, but he never felt the need to lash out against them in a public manner. Hell, even Nixon kept his bullshit behind closed doors at least. We don't even need the Trump tapes to know what kinda BS he's been up to, and that's just SAD. It makes me worry that he has some sort of degenerative brain disease, as he acts like a person who's frontal lobe has been damaged by a railroad spike and cannot grasp the fact that you don't blurt out every little thing that pops into your head like it's actually all important. That my friend, is teenage in nature.

Really though, y'all think maybe he has some sort of mental disability, like Alzheimers?

And Liquid, I dislike CNN. I see it from time to time when at my girl's place, her sister watches it compulsively. It's just as much BS as Steve Bannon's news outlet. I'm not saying we're all like "CNN RAH RAH RAH!", I'm saying that our president is a dipshit :|

I think that's what Ali is trying to express to you in subtle terms; the mods of this site could censor the shit out of you and Woody, but they don't, because they too believe in free speech.

I'm sorry if I've name called either of you, if I have that was wrong. All my name calling is meant for Mr. Trump. If you take personal offense at attacks on your so beloved candidate though, that's a bit off kilter. I never get butt-hurt when people say drugs should be illegal anymore; they're wrong, but can't change their minds, so why argue?

I realize that you have your reasons to hate what you hate and love(?) Mr. Trump and I don't ever mean to diminish your life experience, I just think that your opinions are wrong so I endevour to prove that to you. I know I'll never succeed, God knows why I (or y'all) try, but we do. Politics eh?

Your faith in the veracity of Trump is surprising. He's a seasoned public figure, a politician- of course he is spinning his own narrative and there is no more reason to believe him rather than the mainstream media. He is not telling the truth. It is HIS truth and you're buying it. :\

Oh yeah, what is Trump's message? You never said...

And yes, you can express your opinions here as long as you are abiding by the rules. But don't think that freedom of speech is part of our system. We're a hr site, not a political forum. Censorship is part of our toolkit because attracting drug users is the aim, not upholding your right to free speech. You're being very America-centric if you imagine that your constitution applies here.

Everytime I try to post over a certain word count it just crashes. The only way I can post is dividing everything up. What's up with that

I'm Australian. I may have been confused about the finer points of free speech, but I still believe CNN committed a crime by intimidating that random gif-creator

Let's go with Agence France Press, so you won't immediately dismiss them, and the BBC. Those two aren't even American, so you can't say they're run by liberal democrats
You seem to underestimate just how far-reaching the fingers of the US establishment go. The mainstream media also suffers from CIA involvement, and the CIA is at war with Trump. (I have more faith in the FBI at the moment, especially now with Comey gone).

Look, people hated Obama, they said all sorts of mean shit about him, but he never felt the need to lash out against them in a public manner.
Actually Obama did often lose his cool and direct snide insults at people. It's just that he was so eloquent he hid them in his speeches and everyone had a good chuckle and mostly though they were charming or whatever. Do you remember the dinner/event where Obama was on stage and proceeded to roast Trump in the crowd for a good 15 minutes? That is worth watching again now, no wonder Trump was content about taking Obama's job.

And I will say - it is better to have someone in charge who it is obvious when he lies. Unlike Obama who will lie like a psychopath and convince everyone of hope and change but in effect destroy people's lives and make the world much more dangerous. I'd rather someone who lies about some minor issues but has good intentions and honestly wants to improve the state of the country. That is why so many people forgive Trump's faults and support his efforts. His vulnerability is almost endearing and it humanizes him. And as far as politicians go, Trump comes of as much more trustworthy than the classic lawyer-turned-career politician.

I can't dude. Everytime I try to post over a certain word count it just crashes. The only way I can post is dividing everything up, trust me it annoys me far greater than you
Are you on the mobile version of Bluelight? If so, that's most likely the problem and you can switch to the full version. If not, I have no idea why that would happen.

nope. you have no right to say anything here even if you do follow the rules.

posting on bluelight is not a right. it's a privilege and one we can remove for any reason at any time.

you have absolutely no rights here - in the context of the u.s. first amendment - and if you believe you do then you do not understand the concept.

I'd like to take a little time to tell Alasdair what a great guy he is. You're doing a fine job and I look up to you in many ways.

Also, I have thought about it and Trump is an idiot! You have helped me see the light. Bernie is my guy from now on - let's talk about universal healthcare, right?

Alright, she has to be pure troll.

She's been to the damn DMV, "Driving is a privilege, not a right". The particular group there being people who passed their tests and qualified.

A US judge can order you to never touch a computer or access the internet again. Or even a phone. You have no "right" to use any of those things.
