2017 Trump Presidency Thread

Most illegal immigrants aren't even coming from Mexico...

Using immigrants as a scapegoat has been a pretty popular trend throughout human history.

^ Exactly

I always find humour in Ryan's posts. Fear of the little people who are so amazing they are destabilizing America.

Or is blaming economic failure on poor people just what cool kids do? They are probably overfishing your oceans and stealing water as well I've noticed those problems have started happening world wide. Pesky illegal immigrants must have bases everywhere and organized themselves into a force so powerful America may fall to them.

Just like the band of Un educated goat herders from the middle east that have Americans cowering, allowing huge personal freedoms to be given up.

Fear of the poor, the disenfranchised and the homeless... you could have none of these people in your country already if you didn't spend all your money on weapons of war and instead did something useful as a nation.

Once upon a time America had a vision of greatness and it's population was headed in the same direction. Now you are the next divorce waiting to happen. The lack of cooperation among your population has made you look foolish. Soon Mexicans won't want to live in America, perhaps Trump will get Mexico to build the wall after all, but it will be to keep Americans from pouring into Mexico when they blow up their own country.

American politics would make a better reality show if you had elections every year. This 4 year cycle gets boring. If I was being honest I'd guess there is no possible way you could do funnier then Donald vs Hilary. Maybe if you start allowing cartoon characters. I'm just not sure which animated characters are realy American citizens. Yogi is American but Winnie the pooh I'm pretty sure was Canadian. CNN could debate how to decide if Goofy and Daisy could be legitimate picks. It would probably help your economy. Make sure to deport those illegal cartoons though their stealing all the humour.

This!

I think we're due for a mini political revolution. This two party system is completely screwing over the public. I'm tired of conservatives blaming everything on liberal elites, poor people, and immigrants. I'm equally tired of how out of touch many of the Dems are. Our current political system is one giant pissing contest between two parties.

Unfortunately, everything seems rigged to keep the two-party machine running, so I think people will really need to start taking an interest in politics to turn things around.... but I have a feeling the two-sided saga will continue

In addition to facilitating human and drug trafficking, their sewage finds its way to San Diego beaches! Last year they were 2nd only to Syria in terms of fatalities...

A very small handful of illegal immigrants are cartel members. However, it's less common than many people believe it to be. While there certainly is a lot of violence in Mexico, most of the illegal immigrants are actually attempting to flee the violence that is occurring in their home country. The sewage problem definitely sounds quite disgusting indeed from some photographs I've found online, but the dumping of raw sewage into the Tijuana River would occur even if no one was crossing the border.

Our southern neighbour had more murders than Iraq and Afghanistan! They should quit blaming everything on us and take responsibility for their own corruption and incompetence. They must know where the cartels are, they could be using drones to take out their safehouses.

I don't think they do try to blame us. Unfortunately, the police in Mexico usually don't do anything about the cartel killings because in many (if not most) parts of Mexico, the cops are getting paid off..... so nothing changes. However, if they did manage to stop or reduce the violence from the cartels, there actually likely would be far fewer illegal immigrants from Mexico. Not so sure I agree with using drones though. Drones tend to create a lot of civilian casualties.

The ONLY reason liberals want the border open is because it means more votes. They don't care that the illegals undermine our politics, access welfare, access healthcare, and steal social security numbers.

As a liberal, I don't want the border wide open and agree with you that illegal immigration is a problem. I'm just not so sure that we need to build a wall or take other equally aggressive measures of keeping illegal immigrants out.

Luckily, the illegals rarely vote. This is a misconception that has been propagated in recent times, but there have only been a handful of cases of illegal immigrants voting. They do occasionally access welfare, but this is also not all that common due to the lack of documentation.

The stealing of social security numbers by illegal immigrants is shockingly common though, and this is a problem that needs to be cracked down on. This is perhaps the most serious issue that is created by illegal immigration. I feel that laws should be in place to ensure that employers verify that the social security numbers they're receiving are legitimate.

The cartels would shut down overnight if their product were legalized. End the Prohibition. The same thing happened in US with alcohol - Al Capone and other violent gangs came into power because they controlled the distribution of an illegal product whose demand could not be legislated away.
That's why we should attack mexico and the cartels, so we can take complete control over drug production and profits %)

How selfish you must be!, the mexicans being terrorised by the cartels certainly want them stopped. They are so brutal. I watched a video of the zetas quartering and beheading some dude while he was still alive.

what on earth is trump trying to do with his trashing of the mayor of london?

he seems to be pouring gas on a completely needless confrontation with a country which has traditionally been the u.s.' closest ally in europe. and he's doing it based on taking the mayor's words completely out of context.

smh.

alasdair

He's immature and can't admit when he's wrong.

He's mentally ill. His entire being is engrossed in fighting the media or liberals....and not over anything substantive....just name calling grade school type arguments

He's really not fit to office, he reacts like a child. Get away with everything. Doesn't have the maturity of to accept life's limitations and was probably told he was always the best and most righteous. I see leaders in the news all the time. And I see Trump I can't avoid noticing the contrast, not because he is different, but mostly because he doesn't act like adults or diplomats do. He seems to be quite spoiled. It's either in his ways or no way at all.

he seems to be pouring gas

If a pig is at home in shit, it doesn't mind if a shitslinger goes into overdrive.

Some people love chaos, and disaster is a perfect way to force change.

Trump will (try) push an agenda and if he receives pushback he will create a shitstorm to either distract or push through his plan.

A contractor was arrested for leaking a NSA document that details Russia's attempt to hack our election.

Reality Leigh Winner, 25, allegedly removed classified material from a government facility in the US state of Georgia.

The charges were announced shortly after the Intercept published a National Security Agency briefing about alleged Russian political meddling.

[...]

The Intercept's leaked document alleges Moscow's military intelligence services attempted cyber-attacks on at least one US voting software supplier days before last November's US presidential election.

It also accuses them of sending spear-phishing emails to more than 100 local election officials.

However, there is no suggestion in the document that the hackers were successful.

Suspicious

^ I believe there will be others like that. It's possible that there are still a lot of things yet to be known.

Even before this Russia alleged connections, I had this feeling that someday we would be watching or reading books about what has really happened behind the scenes during this elections. What I really don't understand is how a President of any country can get in office without having to inform their Income Taxes. A practice that is pretty common these days for obvious reasons, so that it's public what he or she has earned before getting elected, and if there's any information regarding money coming from other Governments or even private sectors.

This is mandatory in most countries I know and applied to every Government Employees including the President or the Prime Minister, it has to be transparent and accessible to the public so people are aware if one is illicitly enriching or favoring certain private enterprise. To ensure that people we elect are running for office to serve the public rather than themselves. Of course you don't get into someone's personal data but mainly how much money this person had before and after running for office or starting a job at the Governament.

^ Indeed, 'oh my God'. This is beyond crazy imho. Why is he so worried about what Comey will or will not say. He's just one of them.

This is like an episode of Black Mirror.

I read today that Trumps Twitter feed is a source for official presidential announcements according to Sean Spicer. In less than 140 characters Making America Dumb Again.
