French Elections Called: LePen vs Macron

I think their might be a lot of pissed off French people but lets face it France is a very different country. Their is no significant religious right and the average French person would have a far greater appreciation of the world than a lot of Americans.

Only America would elect Trump

Weren't we just talking about Duterte in another thread? Duterte is the equivalent of a lovechild between Trump and Putin. He just talked about eating a terrorist's liver last week. Literally.

Oh well, guess the French want to embrace their masochistic side and endure more of the same. Beh.

france resoundingly rejects le pen. macron wins by ~65% to ~34%.

alasdair

Great news indeed. The only problem is that she's running for the next elections.
She won't stop now that she conquered almost 35%.

In all seriousness, I thought it was pretty unlikely that Le Pen would get elected in France, even with Ruski influence. So what's with all this conservative collaboration with the Russians then, eh?

yeah, i'm sure you know what's better for the french than the french...

I'm certain you said exactly the same thing when Obama endorsed Macron /sarcasm.

Macron is a pro-EU lacky boy. Enough said.

In 5 years time, following continued decline in France, a crumbling eurozone, and no doubt more terrorist attacks in France, Le Pen will breeze into power. This isn't going to magically disappear.. it's going to get worse.. and the longer it goes without confrontation the worse the inevitable solutions will be. It's quite bemusing and sad to watch nations commit cultural suicide, but it is what it is.

Looking at the last five years, per capita GDP in France has increased every year. Unemployment has risen from only 9.4% to 9.6% (Dec 2011 to Dec 2016). Last year I can find homicide rates for, it looks like it's remained unchanged (2014 had a homicide rate of 1.2, down slightly from 1.3 in 2009). Euro is still up from the British Pound compared to before the referendum, and has remained consistently so.

What decline is supposed to be continuing?
