Cocaine extraction

could they use unscented kerosene? Both are available.
Yeah, it shouldn't really matter, keep in mind in the jungle they just use whole gasoline.

For the best, lab grade process, it depends on what is added to "unscented kerosene" that differs from regular. Anhydrous / NF extraction would be ideal; but I hear even places like Sigma-Aldrich buy their beginning cocaine precursors from ways that lead back to the jungles and their processes since that is where it originates en mass. Better thing to ask would be what do the big American research pharmaceutical empires (e.g. RTI) use to bring the cocaine they get from the southern continent up to 99.9% before making analogs of them.

Very likely, the same thing any chem house has done since the dawn of the fine chemical industry - fractional crystallization and/or chromatography. It's not black magic by any means.

"Unscented" kerosene will not have anything "added" to it in terms of admixture with fragrances, rather it's more likely to be formulated from hydrogenated and/or specially distilled low-aromatic stocks.

Stepan is the only company permitted to import coca leaves into the US. They sell the decocainized leaves to Coca-Cola and the cocaine to Mallinckrodt.
