Appreciate all the feedback though.

Suppose there are some vested interests when it comes to local sourcing.

This place isn't as special as you think it is, in terms of not being able to integrate, is my POV anyway.

The populace has spoken, but we all know what great decisions we've made in the past over here.

Honestly, I don't understand all of the hate for The Lounge Social. Maybe if you came over with something positive, other than the typical consumerist drivel, it would be a more positive experience?

Bella has been a prime example of not sucking.

social is more for creative, light hearted discussion.....this place seems to have a lot of drug topics and ppl just getting high and talking to each other

separate is better IMO
 
drug chat is all EADD is..... what addition would an EADD'R be to social without the drug chat?

they can lurk i guess and then just post their drug chat here i suppose. SEPARATE
 
I support the new social thread - you can check my welcome messages in NMI I plug that section on a daily basis and encourage new users to give it a try etc (great place to relax, chill and chat). It is a social section for the site, something completely different to the social aspect side of EADD.

Ultimately from a HR standpoint - I'm sure that there are a lot of EADD posters and Europeans that would be happier asking a question in EADD about safety than they would asking in a thread in 'Social'. People often discuss some personal and serious problems in here as they feel that they 'fit in' something that they don't feel about social.

If you read some of the gibbering threads you will see a lot of good HR advice being passed about which would be lost if people were to make a specific thread each time a subject comes up.

You asked a question and received a reply - was there any need to start with the 'vested interest in local sourcing' ? I use EADD daily but don't live in Europe, same as Consumer - hardly a vested interest for me in preferring EADD.
 
From an HR standpoint, I don't expect you to direct people over to Social if they're asking about something pertaining to a regional drug topic or mental health issue. There are also focus forums for every drug on BL...I respect the work you do for BL considering how many forums you oversee, it's a thankless job and you are an asset to the community.

The gibberings thread tends to be more gibbering than actual HR info on the whole. Don't you think?

Apologies for the touchy comment but I really am just trying to get people's perspectives and feel like for the most part it's just been an insular clique replying to this thread...

Sourcing is one of the issues I think the regional forums suffer from and I'm simply pointing it out, I didn't accuse you or anyone specifically of doing it - I just don't understand why you think EADD's vibe isn't transferrable?

Anywho - I'll fuck off again...
 
God what a depressing direction for the thread to go in.I have nothing but respect for the moderators who have and continue to put so much into social despite the constant bombardment it comes under from other areas of the internet, but to actually get into a tit - for tat within Blueight itself is desperate. Bella started a valid thread with a good question but what a shame that it's turned into such a bunfight. We have enough agencies attempting to undermine what we do here without an internal squabble that will just feed into the haters hands :(
 
Agreed Stee, my life doesn't change whether or not anything comes out of this. It was just a thought having been a part of this site for ages, I'm just throwing ideas out on how we could improve it.

Maybe this would've gone down better in Support, EADD has a special place in my heart just like it does for all of you - I was hoping people would be a little more open minded without resorting to total piss taking...back when I called this place home, I probably would've argued to keep it as it is, but over the past few years I've seen it cause more harm than it did good.

i could not agree more.

i'm saddened by some of the comments in this thread which seem determined to continue to cultivate a manufactured rivalry between eadd and social. myself, the senior staff and the current social staff have put time and effort into transitioning from the old lounge zeitgeist to social. i believe things are better. much better than they were before. if you disagree, then what are you doing to make it better?

What was more surprising was the borderline hostility / complete lack of interest in being a more integrated community :?

Anyway, my opinion: if people from EADD wanted to post in social, then they already would be/are, because it's an open forum. I would only see the point in merging if they were essentially the same forum (the same users/topics), which they're not.
 
I've not seen any hostility as such, just a general feeling that things are probably best left as they are. I think we all understand each other here and 'get' the cultural references and sense of humour. Cultural integration can go too far - after a certain point, individual cultures become dissolved into a boring grey soup of homogenous banality. Or summat...
