HI everyone,

Though I don't post much anymore I'm still around:) Yes I'm still off the opiods, that won't change, and I've also quit the vaping, which I promised myself I could restart if I wanted. Aside from some lapses with stupid ethanol, I've never been more sober. Yes I'm still on Kratom, and think all the time about quitting that. It doeesn't even feel anymore like it has any effect on me, though if I miss a dose I'll feel the lack of it plenty quick.

Aside from some occasional oral diethyl ether for diversion I'm sober then, but angry with myself. Since quitting I've gained almost 20lbs, much of which came after quitting smoking. Yes I was very, very skinny before, and really liked it. Loved it even. Now I feel fat, am probably normal looking and people still call me skinny / trained. But after years of being in control of what I ate and my body, this powerlessness is really getting to me. Worst of all my right arm / shoulder still hurts from a pinched nerve, tried pushups the other day and just collapsed in pain. So no working out except hiking, even running hurts.

Does anyone know how long after quitting 'poids / smoking / caffeine the weight gain goes on for? Btw I quit vaping maybe 3, 4 weeks ago.

The weight gain will not stop on its own. Part of recovering is making lifestyle changes that benefit you.

I would highly suggest thinking about what small changes you can make to your diet and routine that may save you from gaining weight.

Hi mbchef, believe it or not but i used to have a perfect diet before. It is called CRON, calorie restriction with optimal nutrition, and is supposed to allow you to live longer. It's one of the only things that works in lab animals!

Maybe i should just cancel the carte blanc i gave myself, but fasting/using hungry now feels awful. And that pure Lust for sugar isn't helping. I must've eaten over 10lbs of gummi candy since quitting, rationalizing that this it's still lower calorie than snacking on banana chips for example.

Did anyone try those diet teas btw? Maybe i can Find fen fen somewhere, remember it was very effective for folks until the fda banned it

fen fen is addictive and

The drug combination fenfluramine/phentermine, usually called fen-phen, was an anti-obesity treatment that utilized two anorectics. Fenfluramine was marketed by American Home Products (later known as Wyeth) as Pondimin, but was shown to cause potentially fatal pulmonary hypertension and heart valve problems, which eventually led to its withdrawal and legal damages of over $13 billion.[1] Phentermine was not shown to have harmful effects

I would journel your caloric intake. with a 300 deficit you should loose excess weight slowly like .5 Kg per week.

Start hitting the gym if you want an athletic body.

I had the same problem when I was clean and sober for a year while in inpatient rehab. I got chubby. Now I've lost all that weight again by relapsing, but I'm getting clean again right now so I'm gonna have to watch my diet too. I ate a LOT in rehab, lol. Food just tastes so much better when clean. But yeah, I didn't watch my diet. I'll try to this time around.

First time posting on here. I have been clean going on two years. I have had many obstacles to overcome in these two years. I have gained 30 pounds. I feel disgusting although everyone says I look healthy now. This is the biggest I have ever been. I was always thin. So I am trying to walk more and into aerobics. I need to do something to lose already 15 to 20. Any suggestions?

I was up at 225 (I am 5'9") after rehab. I was on antipsychotics that made me eat in my sleep and made my appetite go crazy. I am down to 165. The hep c treatment makes me so nauseated.

The lowest I got down to was 125 when I checked into rehab in new york. I was a skeleton. After all that bad stuff happened with my ex I started using again (yes it is true that you will practically be right back where you were as far as dose and mentality very quickly when you relapse) I stopped taking care of myself, eating, working out.... After rehab I was 168 all muscle. I worked out constantly. I could do over 100 pushups (3 sets of 100) and I could bench 215. Now my body is messed up because of the hep c treatment. I cannot wait to be finished so I can start working out again.

One thing that worked for me to go from 225-165 is to eat five very small meals a day. I eat more protein and vegetables than carbohydrates. I stopped drinking beer constantly. I get up early to start my metabolism early. I eat a small snack before bed as I am a midnight snacker...which is no good.

To those trying to lose weight: The best thing to do is to get into a healthy routine of working out. Do not stop eating well. By eating well I mean eat natural vegetables, meats, and grains. Basically do not eat a lot of processed foods, and eat slowly (most people eat quickly and do not realize they are full until they are overfull). Do not miss meals as it messes up your metabolism. Cut sugary drinks out of your diet. If you like soda, drink either zero calorie soda, or diet sodas.

When it comes to working out...make sure not to overdo it. It is good to do some weight training, and get some walks in. Anything that gets you sweating and boosts your metabolism.

Just remember change starts with you, and if you keep at it for a month you will develop a routine of doing right by yourself.

i second this. Most people have absolutely no idea how many calories they are consuming on a daily basis. MyFitnessPal is a great app to help with tracking.

look into something IIFYM (if it fits your macros). It's a more effective way to manage calories. Feel free to message me if you have questions.

Never Go back!

Hi.I was was a hardcore codeine addict for 7 years..used with a lot of other anxiety med..over doing it is an understatement..quite and I'm clean long time now.I miss the high and warmth it gave..the relaxed feeling..but back to topic..I'm 1.6m and weigh 49kg..I didn't care bout weight gain..I didn't use substance to help prevent it..I suffer from slight ocd and and have little rituals and rules I don't break..like my eating times I teach my body to accept and maintain itself on what I give it when I have a need I satisy it..I eat health(if junk food and sweets can be called that)but as to your problem you meight have a slow metabolism..drink lots of water when getting something to eat ask urself if ur really hungry or just eating a craving away..exercise is a big help I don't exercise coz I meight just disappear..I do yoga on and off just to connect..hear bout kratom and Sceletium Tortousum..out of the 2 I'd say try Sceletium for that feeling its not a herb which is known to be addictive plus I've read on numerous site including this one that u dnt build up tolarance infact the more u take it the more effects ull get..opioids almost ruined my life, and I won't go back even if I became obese...we tend to punish ourselves in ways or abuse ouselves for no reason,we get high coz sumtimes we don't like our mindset, thoughts,Lack of confidence..when we quit we tend to project that insecurities to other areas..don't be to hard on yourself and just try to set a goal work towards it with a positive mindset.

if you can't exercise, you'll have to do it through diet. helps to track your calories

limit alcohol consumption
switch to tea instead of coffee with a bunch of sugar / milk added to it
actually read the nutrition label. 1 potato chip is like 10 calories... can easily keep snacking with a big bag of these and hit like 300 calories... berries are tasty to snack on and less calories. more filling too, only problem is they can be expensive depending on season
