What Are You Listening To? XXVIII - Foolsgold Will Be Forever Embedded in Our Hearts

Am currently listening to the new Venetian Snares album and it's a bit of a belter. Still got plenty of breakcore beats but at the lighter end of the spectrum and overlaid with lushy synths and funked-up basslines that have clearly been heavily influenced by the recent "new skool" acid funk from Aphex Twin, Ceephax Acid Crew, Wisp, The Tuss and (especially) Automatic Tasty. Great stuff!

Venetian Snares - Everything About You is Special

Venetian Snares - Everything About You is Ambient

Venetian Snares - Decembers

Venetian Snares - Anxattack Boss Level 19 v3

Venetian Snares - Canadian Reggae

That last one isn't on the album as such, but does show how the tunes on the album were created. As somebody notes in the comments, it seems Mr Funk is playing the ENIAC 8o

For my sham man, and if any of you say you don't like pet shop boys there is something wrong with your heart!

^ Enjoyed that, Sprout :)

EDIT: I post too slow. Will check the inbetweenees forthwith.

Before listening to the new Snares album (which I technically still am - currently halfway through the bonus tracks) I got around to listening to the new Radiohead album properly. What can I say other than it is bee-yoo-tee-full!!! The musicianship is always noteworthy with Radiohead but they really seem to have stepped it up a notch with this latest one. Just incredible playing from every member of the band (I'd single out the bass and guitar for extraspecialbonus+1 achievements) and (imo as a complete Radiohead fanboy) far more accessible and just downright listenable than King of Limbs. Outstanding work and, as noted recently, the accompanying liveshow is just jaw-droppingly good.

Radiohead - Burn the Witch - Belter of an opener with an amazing video to match. I'm sure any interested have seen it already but for any that haven't I would hope that The Wicker Man vs Trumpton should perk enough interest to clicky 'pon the linky...

Radiohead - Daydreaming - Another good video (albeit not a patch on the above). He really could do with washing his hair before recording vidz, mind. That side, simply gorgeous <3

Radiohead - True Love Waits (live) Why yes, yes it does. But that aside, the updated version on the album is just pure bliss. The aforelinkied version here is one of the better live versions of the original mix. New album is worth getting a hold of purely to hear what they did with it cos although this was always one of their finer hours the new version is just incredible <3

Im kind of ticking these off as I haven't listened for them for so long. So just for a change this morning it's

So that's about 7 down 64 to go.

Then it's onto the Fabric Lives come August or so...

My favorite Fabric Lives are Evil 9 and Stanton Warriors. Not sure of the numbers. Killer mixes though.

The Stanton Warriors mix is amazing. That one's no 30 and the Evil 9 cd is 28. I love the range of sounds on the Live compilations but it's the drum and bass volumes that really stand out for me , as I prefer the standard Fabric compilations in general. I only have them up until volumes 71 (DJ EZ on the Live (Friday night) series and Cassy on the Fabric (Saturday) lot.

Out of the Live comps released there has been one more D+B mix - Ed Rush + Optical (Vol. 82) from last July, so I might have to sort that one as a one off. I haven't got the money to catch up with the rest.

Muse vs. The Timelords - Doctorin' The Uprising (MDEE Mix)

Pet Shop Boys vs KLF (aka The Timelords) - Pandemonium in the TARDIS

Pet Shop Boys vs Erasure - A Little Rent

I think my preteen self would have actually exploded if such a thing as the above existed at the time. PSB and Erasure were my favourite bands as a kid (in hindsight perhaps no surprise my mother was convinced I was gay right up until my late teens :o) and those were two of my favourite songs of theirs. Must say they do work rather well together... but then I am a sucker for a mashup :o

Nick Cave. Another great Aussie export. Boys Next Door - Shivers

Listening to the stone roses album ready for tomorrow, seen them at Heaton park but seen the set list and it's better than the Heaton park one, playing elephant stone for one, hope it's the original with extended drum solo... Toilet breaks will be when the new songs are on :p

^ Dunno if you saw the one I recommended t'other day...

Asteroid - Asteroid [Full Album]

Actually I recommended the fourth one but thought I'd go for the first this time cos I've not heard it myself yet but rather enjoyed the other one. Much more proggy than the more ambienty spacesounds recommends - think Hawkwind. Hope you enjoy! =D

Stellardrone?

Sounds like an iffy RC... :)

Bwaaahahahahahhahahahaa!!! :D
