I suspect the reason is that the dealer is an unreliable fucker and has been 'two minutes away' since The Beatles grew moustaches :D

You may be right, Don! Won't be waiting long anyway!

I shit you not, if it's the same guy I'm thinking of, I went around to his a couple of months ago so we could go out for a drink. I arrived and he said he was nearly ready but just had to sweep his chimney first. So he doesn't reserve his special perception of time just for his business activities.

I wish that was a jape but you'll understand that to be well within his standard operating procedure.

It's often a damn sight more discreet conducting a deal in a pub than on a street corner. It happens all the time

Yup. I certainly prefer to do it in a pub than on the street. Besides, the establishment chosen for the exchange is usually chosen for its general safety profile. I usually just go in to a dealer's house but even that is more risky than a public house.

He'd be right. Think I'm heading home smokeless! Ah well! Was a nice trip to the area lol

Heh, 'just got to sweep my chimney'...
Is that a new euphemism for "I'm just dipping the bags"? ;)

He literally had one of those flue brushes you can extend by attaching another section. He then asked me to hold a towel up over the fireplace so his mat didn't get dirty. I refused so the youngster in the group saw his opportunity to earn some brownie points. It was nearly two hours before he met us for the drink.

The only bag dipping he likely does is the type where he slides his fingers in and shaves a joint's worth from an already skimpy sack :!

Missing my train for this! Not gonna be in a great mood lol

Missed the train now!

Pubs used to be the main venues drugs were sold in when i was growing up. You knew which pubs were the ones to go to and it was basically a free for all in those days.

Now the cops go through pubs with sniffer dogs and that culture has largely vanished.

I still prefer to meet a couple of my friends somewhere other than their pad due to the nature of their business. Not the lounges you want to be sitting on when the feds knock the door down. But often its not convenient so i end up going to their houses anyway.

There is very few open air drug markets in Australia. Nimbin is the obvious one. The whole town revolves around selling weed and has done for 40 years. You are lucky to walk 5m from your car before being asked if you want buds. You can smoke joints in the cafes but the cops do sweeps every now and again but usually the warning is given along the grapevine as they are driving into town. They have tried to shut it down for many years and failed. Anyway i am rambling. I best get a coffee into me. Doctor's appointment in 2 hours. Ciao

"Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun."

Not that I'm calling you an English Man or a mad dog, hahaha, but i trust that you get the idea.

When i was on holiday with a friend in Turkey they were having a heatwave and the temperatures were even hotter than normal over there, above 40c, and a concerned carpet shop keeper called us in out of the heat saying pretty much 'are you mad, this kind of heat has killed people'. Im not sure if thats true, but we both felt fine. The guy probably wanted to sell us a carpet, even if his concerns were well intentioned.

In Australia everyone tends to get up very early and gets a lot of stuff done before it gets too hot. Adapt and work around it, or get used to it, seems to be the moto. It's not that hot today, maybe some people just dont cope with anything approaching hot weather very well, i dunno. 8(
