Hej BL'ers,

when I abused the shit out of MDMA I called this health center for help. It's a bunch of educated docs interested in drugrelated health issues. Recently they made a video about the long-term problem they have collected over the years of in particular XTC(MDMA).

Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8TsPiUZac0

Since most of you probably can't understand what he's saying I'll try to translate it a bit:

"We are running a health center which helps in particular people with problems after using party drugs(MDMA). People who come to us can be divided into two groups. The first group is developed HPPD and the other group has a depersonalisation disorder.

HPPD affects ALL sences, but most often it are visual problems. Most people with HPPD experience white and black dots going on and off. Also floaters are common and Some people experience when a looking away the same image(afterimages).

The other group developed DPD. People experience they aren’t part of the world. To them the world feels like a movie or fake or they feel they are a robot. People who experience this are seriously terrified.

I'm doing this six years and until now I've had 400 people who called to talk about there symptoms. I also had 150 intakes face to face, because the problems were this bad and permanent they needed special health care.

550 isn't nothing, but compared to the popularity of this drug in The Netherlands it is not much either. Though I'm extremely sure there are a lot more young humans who experiencing these problems, because when they come to our health center some of them had these problems for years.

There are a lot of factors(overdosing, mixing, alcohol) which contributes to these problems, but under my clients we noticed:
- it seems when someone experienced a bad trip they are more vulnerable.
- Also sleep deprivation seems to contribute a lot to these problems. It happens so much to my clients, that I strongly believe that sleep deprivation plays a big part on HPPD en DPD.

My advice would be:
- Be sure you get enough sleep after using drugs.
- Between using there must be a minimum of three months clean healthy lifestyle."

Fk now I need back studying -___-

That's very interesting. I hope this is ongoing research and some day will shed some light on what is happening to that small percentage of people that develop long-term problems and why it is happening. And as a bonus, it's in my native language (well, a variation of it). Thanks!

I absolutely second what he says regarding sleep deprivation.

I would love if he did some genetic testing looking at the serotonin of the two groups. There is a mutation associated with bad reactions and a hard time sleeping after MDMA.

Yeah, all of my problems started with a bad trip combined with sleep deprivation.

Honestly, I feel bad for anyone or everyone having a bad reaction to mdma. It's such a happy and good-feeling substance, and it's really not meant to remembered as a shitty, bad trip experience. That just doesn't do it justice imo, neither for the psyche or the chem itself.

I mean, this drug was used for psychotherapy for a time, and when it was actually legal too. There was mounting evidence that with just one trial, people with ptsd were immediately observed to have been "cured" of most of their ptsd symptoms. I think it had something to do with the reduction of the fear response in the amygdala, but either way, that explains how I literally changed over night because of this substance. Of course, the best way to use it for that kind of benefit is in a clinical setting with qualified doctors, but it can be done by an amateur if S & S is just right.

Though I should say that these types of studies do have their place, and I encourage any other new info to be posted. I definitely don't question how there are people who have suffered from things like memory loss or depression after mdma use, but at the same time I don't see myself as a special case just because neither of those two things ever occurred, even with extensive use. Same with this study, but hopefully there will be a lot more info to learn from concerning mdma's true safety profile. :)

I'm glad you find this interesting BlueBull. Although this information is definately valuable, they are focussing on treating symptoms only and trying to inform a lot of youngsters about the risks, like bluelight. Regretfully I believe they are not actively researching which neurochemistry alterations are responsible for this.

Btw I thought you were from GB right? Which native language you mean:P

Yea it would definately be useful, but as far as I know they only treat symptoms and they are collecting information about the patients history, symptoms etc

Hi Vikingdancer,

I see this post is a bit old, but I have some quoetions regarding the mentioned health center. I live in the Netherlands, so I would like to take the contact with this health center tomorrow.

I kind of abused a bit out of xtc too and now I have some big problems for a month and a half (insomnia, nightmares, small shock effects in my head, depression, lack of appetite, anxiety, no feelings, only sadness). In the last 7 months I was using xtc almost monthly and in April twice. I did not take per night more then 1 pill. After that I started to have my symptons on the 2nd of May.

My question is, how did they help you at this center? Do they also give medication to full recovery? And how long did the recovery lasted for you?

Thank you.

Greetings,
Rozi
