Cure for the cold?

As in, low temperatures, not the virus. What drugs are good for it?

I find that stims and psyches tend to make me feel cold anyway (like, poor circulation or something?), so I guess they're out. Weed I think makes me more sensitive to the actual temperature, so if I have to go outside to smoke it I get frozen real quick this time of the year (and then immediately too hot when I come back in). I don't ever remember feeling cold on ket so maybe dissociatives are a good choice. Don't really have enough experience with benzos and opies to know for sure but it feels like they should be the best option really.

What's your winter drug of choice?

(not a "what drug should I take thread" really mods!)

Yeah have found on occasion that I get cold on stimulants. Don't have that much experience of psyches really but I will say that aMT tended to make me feel nice and warm!

I always found that codeine gave me the feeling of being wrapped in a "nice warm blanket". However, I've never taken it whilst chilly so can't comment on whether that translates to actual warmth / not noticing the cold.

Now you mention it, I have that same suspicion with regards to ketamine. However, perhaps the best cross of the last two mentioned is MXE. Certainly has that opiate warmth to it.

Lastly, you can't forget cannabis. I found certain strains made me feel very warm. Also I think that hash particularly tends to make one feel warm. I specifically remember smoking a joint with white widow, laced with some hash & proceeding to sit outside on a winters night in a t-shirt. Was a fantastic night. :D

But if I had to choose one of choice? I would say MXE. However that is somewhat of a moot point as I no longer partake in boshing drugs.™ :p

Opiates will always make you fell warm but I'd prefer the cold.
Or try to dress in layers, using a better clothing, etc.

Seriously, if you are consider a drug to help you with that, cannabis would be the less harmful one.
Avoid alcohol.

Solid solution there, that's me sorted now ;)

I like codeine for winter, just feels right plus it does physically warm me up or at least feels like it does. Obviously my year round drug of choice is weed but that gets a bit dicey in the cold for me, a few times I've gotten so high I didn't realise I was too cold and it sent me on a bad one. Getting into bed always solves that but still.

Booze or ket makes me numb to the cold. Slap some GBL in there. Stims can make me sensitive and feel extra cold, MD makes me shivver my silly tits off

Good point there. Got to watch out for feeling warm when you are actually too cold.

Or try to dress in lawyers, using a better clothing, etc.

For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what you meant by "dressing in lawyers". I suspect the word you were searching for is layers! :D (certainly gave me pause for thought, contemplating how one could dress in lawyers. Being as I have been watching Hannibal recently, a few ideas did pop into my head. ;))

Opiates would be a particularly bad choice. I've always found that they interfere with my body's temperature regulation ability even after discontinuation -- and in withdrawal, I get alternately hot and cold.

Indeed.

Funny and quick. :)
Of course. Duly noted and corrected.
English is not my first language so 'it happens' eventually.

Heh, I'm really not seriously looking for a drug to help with the cold. Just interested in people's opinions / experiences regarding drug use during winter, particularly as it's finally gotten a bit cold this week (in the UK at least). Thought it might be marginally more interesting a topic than another "if you killed the bluelighter who last posted, who would have the biggest hissy fit right after" or whatever most of the threads these days seem to be.

Become a heroin addict works evey time , haven't had one in years. =D=D=D

Again *the* cold, not *a* cold. ;) I also haven't had the virus in years, but I blame my over-active immune system. Although it seems like becoming a heroin addict is a popular choice for the cold weather, so I will give that a try, cheers! :D

You have never felt the cold, until you have stood in a freezing bus shelter on a snowy night as the winds howled for upwards of 40 agonising minutes, waiting for a dealer to turn up with a bag of something that might make you feel a bit more normal again for awhile.

It seems im in the minority here, as stims really make me feel impervious to the elements. As do some stimulating psychedelics (not all of them). MXE and 3meoPCP work well in the cold ...

Im particularly sensitive to temperatures on most psychedelics though.

From a physiological point of view, it would make sense. They raise the heart rate which should increase body temperature. Drugs that release dopamine from the pituitary gland such as alcohol and cocaine should also inhibit the sensation of coldness as adrenal hormones tend to counter susceptibility to cold temperature.

My point still stands though. The body acclimatises to the most astonishing conditions: - if you have to take drugs to get you through winter... for goodness sake man the fuck up! (or get some meat on ya, boy ;))
