When did they dissapear, and did someone here try them? (How were they?)

Is there any country in the world that still make Doriden?

I believe Glutethimide which is Doridens active ingredient has been stepped down due to its addictive properties and it was mixed in with a lot of codeine related deaths in the USA which made it be switched from C-III to C-II.

Other than that I can't think of much else about it, I'll have a think/read and see if I can uncover anything for you.

EDIT:

Toothy... It was created to replace barbiturates but was soon found to be almost as problematic. I believe Benzodiazepines and Z-drugs have superseded it.

it's probably replaced by those for good reasons. Bet it's dangerous. but I don't know anything about it, never even heard of it.

From what I recall it went like this...
In the late 70's it was believed that mixing Doridin and Codine was equivilent to pharmacutical Herion. A "LOAD" consisted of 4 Tylenol #4 codine pills taken with 2 500mg. Doridins, this would render you motionless and uphoric for the most part. Many people did this combination all the time as it was extremely addictive! By the early 80's Doridin became a triplicate perscription drug making it impossible to obtain in most illegal factors. It was far too little far to late, as it's herion like high had taken many lives and created a huge addicted following. Many combinations were tried after Doridin became unobtainable. Senoquin and Codine sryup was one combination that became popular for a very short time. I personally knew some 15 people that died from the ever sought after "LOAD", I was glad to see it gone as our neighborhood was devastated!

In USA, glutethimide was taken off market in 1993. In some Eastern European countries, it was still available some years ago.

Doriden caused more of the codeine to convert to morphine and inhibited glucuronidation, making codeine both more potent and longer acting. Also had a sedetive effect like short-acting barbs and quaalude. It's a little bit less toxic than barbiturates but more toxic than benzos or even ludes. I think there might still be a combination drug of glutethimide, amobarbital and hydroxyzine in some countries, not sure.

Imagine if it were still around in this age of oxycodone and hydrocodone. It'd be chaos8o.

I think you have it mixed up with Vesparax, which was the last of the proper Barbiturate formulations outlawed in most Western European countries (Only Phenobarb is still available). Vesparax contains a combination of Secobarbital, Vinylbarbital and Hydroxyzine.

Nah, in most countries Vesparax was secobarbital, brallobarbital and hydroxyzine AFAIK.Maybe it was different in the Netherlands, I don't know? It had a fast acting short-lived barb(seco) mixed with a slow-acting long-lived barb(brallo) and hydroxyzine. Too bad the internet wasn't around when Jimi Hendrix was alive, then he would have found out that Vesparax was strong as fuck.

I could have sworn I read on a forum no longer around that there was a preparation in Romania with about what I said, don't remember exactly what. They said it was the last country to have it. It was someone scouring the Earth for methaqualone or something close.

The three barbs in major use today are pentobarbital (medical/anesthetia/euthanasia), phenobarbital as an anticonvulsant, and Firoecet/Fiorinal (butalbital preps for headache).

Although ... to this day there are a few old grandmas out there who are still prescribed Seconal, and it's still manufactured and sold in third world countries too.

correct I was doing loads in the 80s when it was banned in the us, high time magzine definition is 10 times effective and 10 time addictive than heroin. speedballs pills mixed. there has been nothing that can touch the high of loads, i was 19 at the time iv been a junky

I am curious as to if it is still marketed in any countries as well. I have been approched by someone offering to sell doriden (gluthethamide HD). If I were certain Id jump on that. My fav pills (infact any drug period). Unfortunately, was just a bit too young for gualuades, something I really wanted to experience.

Was able to get seconal apx 8 years ago. They appear to be available in other countries as does nembutal.

Sounds like we had similar circumstances. I was going down to the lower east side of My NYc to cop. Then a pharmacist began making capsules in his basement though Im certain he mixed up sine seconal and nembutal too. Wasn't the same.

Best feeling in the world. I have been looking for any other drugs to come close to how good D&C makes me feel and haven't found anything.
Hands down the most wonderful feeling in the world.
I remember taking them when I was 18- 19 years old and I would feel guilty after taking them because I knew I shouldn't of loved taking them so much.
It's been 25 years since my last dose and I still have the urge to take them!! Heroin sucks because I compare it to D&C and can't even touch it. taking codeine alone either.

Quite funny really, codeine is considered to be the bottom of the opiate barrel. But mix it with glutethimide and it's "better than heroin" if only such things were still around :) At least us Brits would be able to have a bit more fun with our codeine.
