Hello,

So I am considering taking steroids but I am pre-21 years old and as such everyone basically tells me not to. I have been training on and off for two years now and most recently had to take a long break and pretty much lost all my gains. I have been watching UFC and have basically concluded AT LEAST SOME of these guys are taking some form of roids. Plenty of them are pretty young. So in this logic wouldn't they just be fucked? Same with football players who are clearly on some roids. Are they just fucked? David Laid is like 17 or 18, he is definitely on roids, so is he just screwed? Is there something these young roid users are doing that others arent? I was just thinking about doing one 4-6 week cycle after doing plenty of research to kick start my gains and maybe a second one before stopping altogether. I cannot imagine long-term side effects would emerge from very short usage if propper precautions were followed. I could very well be wrong and probably am just a thought. What do you guys think of the young athletes and roid usage?

The big difference is: are you going to be getting paid decently for whatever you want to do that involves gear usage? If yes, then by all means we'll give you the advice as you will be making a living off of your sport. If no, like the vast majority of people, then wait til you're atleast 21. You may be done growing vertically but you still grow width wise. Also long term damage to your hpta is more likely while it's still developing at a younger age. If you're pre-21, in decent health, your natural hormones will be enough for the majority of what you desire. The rest is training, diet, and SLEEP. Lots of you youngins neglect proper rest, and not necessarily on purpose. College along with work schedules and still maintaining a social life can hurt ones sleep schedule. You don't have to necessarily wake up tired to know you're not getting enough rest. I had chronic insomnia for about 15 years with little noticeable side effects. Until I started getting proper sleep I didn't know what being well rested felt like. So let's see your stats, your hypothetical plan, and what you're currently doing and what you're trying to achieve. We most likely won't advise gear usage but we can still guide you til you reach that point to make the most of it when you do get there. I lurked here over a year, reading and asking questions to further my knowledge before ever sticking a needle loaded with oil in me. Realistically, this is a life long thing. I've never known someone to do one or two cycles. It's a new way of life really.

As you'd probably expect, I think it short-sighted. Even if your epiphysial (growth) plates have sealed, it's still short-sighted, as you could expect to make some good gains naturally for a few years before considering AAS. And even then, I'd only start young if I had a genuine reason (eg competing in a sport). For purely aesthetic purposes, I'd stay natural till 21 or longer. However ultimately it's your body, you'll do what you want with it.

Oh, and just to repeat what Sero says, almost nobody ever just does "one or two" cycles. Once started, it just goes on indefinitely...
