Nobody is better off with addiction. You are right about involving your family, they are the best people to trust and best source of support.
I would advise that you consult a doctor for comfort medicines and taper amount, you need to work with the doctor in setting a taper schedule, and ask someone to control your doses (maybe a family member who is strong enough to resist your begging when you crave) .
If money is no concern, you can get yourself into a treatment facility, one that can guarantee your privacy. It cost me a good fraction of my savings to take my brother into one of those places. It was difficult to find a programme that worked for him, he's not religious and he felt alienated by some treatment approaches. But when he finally chose one, I can tell it was so worth it. It's been a year, he's employed and working on a relationship with his new girlfriend.
