cysteine and methionine for hair growth?

I do not have hair loss but am always looking for something in advance in case I'd need to supplement with something for it. I have read that both these sulfur amino acids: cysteine and methionine are great for hair growth. I noticed with methionine but since I haven't tried cysteine yet I'm curious since I've read that hair is 8% cysteine. Now, which version of cysteine should I try? I've seen L-cysteine HCL: monohydrate vs. anhydrous. Monohydrate being 3x more expensive. What's the story on monohydrate vs. anhydrous?

Anhdydrous means no water.

Monohydrate is one water molecule is associated with one molecule of the compound.

Just a guess, but some things are more stable in crystallized form while others are not. Hence the more stable version of L-cyteine that had to undergo hydration cost more in comparison to the anhydrous variation.

The real question is.....

Are you genetically predisposed to androgenetic alopecia?

I know its inevitable to lose a little bit of hair as we transform into a geriatric mess, but unless you are predisposed to MPB then I don't see the reason to accentuate preventative supplementation....

I would assume most L-cysteine supplements commercially sold out there are the monohydrate version? They never stated on the bottles.

Yes, I read cysteine thickens hair plus removes the gray and turns it back to the original color (no gray etc.). I read about gelatin. I've used it as well for the purported HGH release (take before bedtime). It works. But I'm wondering about cysteine as well. I noticed that with my past HGH use that my hairline pattern has a different growth pattern as if "sideways" rather than how it used to be (not "sideways"). I know it's awkward.

Not sure if I am "predisposed" to MPB, but when I geared in the past I noticed some fading hairline. I have thick hair, it's uglier when you see fading hairline than if you already had thin hair. I guess i'm not used to seeing my thick hair thin out compared to people with already thin hair.

I have thin hair.. have always had thin hair and it's mainly noticeable when I spike it but it's definitely not balding because I have an amazing hairline.. would this give me fuller, thicker hair? And where can one get this product.. is is oral pills or do you have to apply it to your hair or something? I want to try it out!

I feel you. I don't suffer from MPB, but I do notice my hair is a little bit different on cycle, but it could be placebo or just another factor. It goes right back to normal after PCT.

Could just be the supraphysiological presence of androgens. It's hard to say what happens to hair in the presence of a very androgenic environment regardless of genetics. I notice my facial hair growth and a little bit of body hair thinned out on trenabolone, but my hairline was fine.

My hair has become much more coarse and thick since I started gear. Also seems to grow at a faster rate as well. Head hair is just more coarse and no thinning and that's with using winny and mast together. I'm very thankful lol

I love the sarcasm.

what do you guys think of l-cysteine in general? I know it comes in most protein powder as part of the amino acid stack. Below are some more uses for l-cysteine:

About the Product:

- Supports sports performance and good health, while at the same time helping the liver detoxify

- Helps the body rid itself of ammonia, a by-product of intense exercise

- Helps the body recover after a workout

I've also read it works in the thyroid as well so I'm curious if I'm taking too much supplements for thyroid which already includes iodine, selenium, and l-tyrosine.

Aminos acids have little if any effect on the throid if thats what youre asking
its already in aminos acids like you said, its better to just take bcaas then take this alone imo

I thought GH made my hair have unusual hairline pattern than my original. what is RU?

Higher protein in general is always healpful for skin hair and nail growth. Using a free form amino (like L-cysteine) wont much realisticall y be more effective on the basic idea that other nutrients are involved in hair groth. that alone the amino will make much more difference is probably not tue answer. Not to throw a vague or overly general answer at you but protein consumption is mich more significant a factor than a single amino. Hope this is helpful.
