Hurtin! What can you tell me about Butrans? Is it great for your pain? What type of pain do you have? I am waiting for insurance to approve it for me and I'm very excited :) In blind tests people preffered it to fent quite often.

Welcome, well if its anything like fentanyl patches, once you stick it on the adhesive seems to "disappear" think it comes down to the natural oils in yer skin? My best guess anyway.. Talking outa fent experience. And besides when you remove the patch at indicated interval, there's no more drug in the patch.. Maybe traces. But rule of thumb says if one comes off accidentally, apply a new one. Hope that helps ?

Thank you guys for replying.I can't find very much information on this patch and it has helped my pain a lot. Ihsuffer from a DVT in my right arm and it causes severe inflammation and pain. I know everything says if a patch comes off just reapply a new one but it's just not that easy to replace them because they are a controlled substance. I'm currently taking tramodol with it and it's been a miracle for pain relief. One thing I have noticed is with the butrans there is no euphoric high with it like other pain medication so I've kinda just been sitting in my head not knowing really what to do I'm always concentrating on the pain or in some kind of fog with other pain meds. Anyway sorry for the rambling I was just wanting to find out why I can't reapply a patch because I want to get the most out of it and there isn't a clear answer to that, but sounds like from what stefx85 said they become dead? Thanks again it feels good being able to discuss these issues with you guys without feeling like a freak or something

I've never had the Butrans patches as they cost a fortune at the pharmacy but id like to know how well they work. Besides Methadone Bupe is about the only med i haven't tried for pain. But in Canada they are only approved for moderate pain not severe pain so i doubt my insurance would ever cover it for me.

They have worked amazingly for my pain and around the clock. I found that even though they are a seven day patch that by day five my pain starts to come back, so that's definitely a draw back. Honestly I didn't know what to do with myself because I wasn't in any pain, also, there is a mind clarity with it, I don't have a high or groggy feeling like I experienced with other opiates. That sucks about your insurance paranoid android, this should be an option for anyone who deals with chronic pain.
