Top 5 happiest life experiences - how many drug related?

If you were to list the happiest times of your life how many would involve drugs? I think most of mine would involve either mushrooms/oral DMT/LSD.

Perhaps the only one that wouldn't would be the time between hearing of Richard Hammonds high speed car crash and finding out he'd survived.

Great idea for a thread and great OP (particularly the Hammond bit ).

4/5 plus seeing my son being born.

I think on one level the happiest I've ever (momentarily) felt was on pills, particularly MDA ones, but I'd say the truly happiest moments were so because they represented a culmination of things going on in my life generally, they were earned and they changed my life for the better. They weren't transient and artificial.

This, although - psychedelic trips that haven't been filled with self-loathing / dread have been pretty high up there.

And I certainly didn't earn the experience of seeing my son being born. Just had sex without a condom. Is that devalued too then?

SHM - you seem to have got it into your head I'm middle class. You're ridiculously wide of the mark in that assumption.

And you're taking the word earned too literally - I just mean it isn't fleeting and is part of a major change you've made to your life .

I was sober both times my kids were born. I did go out and wet their heads at the pub but alcohol isn't a drug, it's a food.

I was sober when the all blacks won the World Cup in 87. My mum drove a minibus of drunks back from Eden park and we celebrated until dawn. Pretty epic for a 12 yr old to be honest. 2011 I had tears of joy with a glass of red on my balcony.

The night I made love to my wife for the first time she picked me up from the airport, we went for a Thai meal, then she took me back to her place where she dosed me on G until I was only wearing underwear. Totally unexpected to be honest, but I wasn't going to complain. The next day afternoon I had my arms wrapped around her swaying, while a cocktail of MDMA, meth and weed swirled through my skull, watching Air perform Sexy Boy live. Even to this day that band brings me tingles.

I was sober the day my daughter received her black belt. In fact I can't recall my kids ever seeing me drunk, let alone on drugs. She forgot her mouth guard, was in tears from nerves waiting in the car beforehand, copped a kick to the face within the first 2 minutes of sparring, wiped the blood from her nose, then battled 3 on 1 for 20 minutes, destroyed planks of wood with her hands and feet, then took down assailants with nunchucks and knives. Pretty bad arse for an 11 yr old.

I was pretty happy during my time living in Nice. Drinking red wine, smoking hash and studying Matisse while living in a flea bitten apartment above the water with my first wife. I'll admit I was happy and high back then.

I was drunk on the weekend at my bosses farewell/ my inauguration party. If I didn't have to give a speech I'd probably would have smashed cocaine and smoke a cigar, but I left that to my staff and pressed the flesh instead while drinking red wine.

No I haven't (got it into my head you're m/c). I just think some opinions need stating carefully. To me, the word 'earned' is used (commonly) to directly oppose the value of drug experiences (which are seen as unearned - eg 'spirituality through a pill? Never!')

I'm sure you know what I mean. Because I don't think you're stupid. Or middle class.

Very big of you;)

Look, it's all just chemicals swimming about in your brain at the end of the day. I'm reluctant to assign a spiritual dimension to any experience, drug induced or not, but I find experiences with a longer run-up have more permanence and are therefore better. YMMV (as much as that acronym irks).

Cheers Bob :)

The question is impossible to answer. I'm 45 years old and I couldn't possibly list the "5 happiest times of my life".

Was I happiest gurgling as a baby when someone played hide and seek with me? Or when I passed my driving test at 17? Or coming up on my first pill at 34?

Happiness is a fleeting thing that happens countless times over your life, and what made you happy then may not be a big deal now, and vice versa.

Perhaps I'm taking it too literally or misunderstanding something.

I tend to feel more euphoria on mushrooms than I do passing the driving test or getting my first job tho felix. If the happiest I ever got was passing my A-levels I think i'dve sucked a tailpipe by now.

Well, I was pretty fucking happy when I passed my driving test. It was a big deal at the time. :D

But I can't quite quantify whether that was "happier" than anything else that's happened in my life. Who can say?

And since when did you ever pass any A levels? ;)

I think the first time I ever felt any heavy duty euphoria was when I first took mushrooms in my early 30s. I can certainly say quite catagorically that I'd never felt as happy before.

What drugs are you taking felix? Stuff that doesn't give you much euphoria? Perhaps I'm just more partial to psychedelic euphoria than the average bear.

Well, if your original question was: "what were your top 5 most euphoric moments ever?", it might have been easier to answer. :)

I've had many euphoric times on drugs, and you've been reading my nonsense on here for a decade, so you must know that. Let me have a think about it.

Bang on. I doubt I'll be looking back on my most euphoric/munted moments on my deathbed, as great and life affirming as they were - I'll be looking back on my happiest moments.

Dunno, many drug related, many without.. DMT springs to mind. although it was beyond happy, the pinnical, beyond anything. amazing stuff. pre ban meph is probably the most euphoric ive been as well. i like sober happy contentedness though. a list of most euphoric for me would probably be... DMT, pre ban meph, speed and ketamine, MD

I went to the opening of an Andy Warhol exhibition on mushrooms one time. When the exhibits of Marilyn Monroe and Sylvester Stallone started winking at us, my two mates grabbed a bottle of red wine and retired to the grassy lawn outside to try and gather themselves.

I stayed inside and became transfixed on this beautiful woman wearing a flowing dress which made her look like a butterfly. Something like this....

I was recently divorced, high on drugs and followed her around like a lost puppy. Either I showed more charm than possible, or perhaps she was high at the time too, but she took me by the hand and we wandered through rooms full of priceless art, small talking for an hour. Eventually my mates returned and suggested it was time to go. I kissed her on the cheek and refused her number because my muddled mind thought it would be more beautiful if our encounter was a romantic chance meeting and the universe would decide should we ever meet again. Perhaps I had watch Before Sunrise one too many times?

Pretty euphoric evening to be truthful, even if I was cock blocked by my own warped mind.

in no order

- Finding out Mrs A was pregnant the first time, I'll include the following birth

- Finding out Mrs A was pregnant the secone time, I'll include the following birth as well, it all meant so much to us

- Black microdot 1991, beyond description

- Huge local warehouse party 1992, I'd done a load of speed and then took my first Snowball (200mg + MDA), I wandered toward the stack and Egyption Empire - Horn Tune came on, something happened to me there.

- Free party in a sand quarry about 1996, as always the same ( 500 -1000 ) morning crew were still going , the real party started about 6am. The sun was rising, I was on this MDNA I could get at the time that looked like glitter. Everyone, including the crew were properly fired up, the roughest disciples here ever was, I think it finished about 3pm and the pace never slowed,...we r IE ;)
