I'm a post-roaching type of gal. I've tried pre-roaching, but never managed to get it to work properly. So I just stick with what I know works; and if anyone thinks any the less of me for that, so be it.
Also, I have a slightly crazy roach design, the Mark Three (I won't go on to describe the Mark Two or Mark One roach designs from which this is descended, unless someone actually asks): Take a standard roach card from a roach booklet, 52 mm. long by 18 mm. wide. Start off making a zig-zag fold, about 2 mm. wide, until you have just enough of a tail left over to take about two turns around the compressed core, so as it will leave at least one full turn when it is inserted into the end of the joint and allowed (maybe even persuaded with any sort of pointy metal thing) to expand. The outer turn pushes the toking end of the joint into its final shape and give it extra physical strength, while the zig-zag centre prevents any tobacco from entering your mouth while still leaving a good clear tokeway.
