RIGHT. so. After a very long and worrying 3 years, wondering what the fuck is going on in my lower abdomen...I now know! I was a long-term heavy ketamine user (clean nearly 9 months now :) ) I would always assume it was related to my bladder or possibly some sort of ulcer caused from crystals in my intenstines or some shit. But, some shit is exactly what it is. I used to have a terrible habit of binging on valium for weeks at a time a bit too frequently and not exactly eating. Lots of drinking etc but when I did eat it was probably crappy food too. Anyway I used to take round the hundred mark daily for big blurred blocks of days. One morning I woke up in absolute agony and I had to go to the doctors straight away. My entire lower abdomen looked like it was harboring a huge rugby ball. It was horrible. I was pissing glass by that point aswell. I didn't exactly ever have the chance to ween myself off them either so I went absolutely mad for a couple of days. Doc and I just put it down to hellish bladder infection.
I noticed afterwards that one side (left) of my tum never went back down. Infact it got bigger. And more painful. And I kept going back to docs but because I was squatting it was always a different doctor I saw and I didn't really get anywhere.

Fuck you opiates! Knew I would pay one day!

So this has been all up in there for over 3 years now, i still have bm's but not very regularly and very little when i do.

I've been prescribed laxido. At the moment I'm taking 8 sachets in a litre of water. It's made it much softer but my stomach still looks so stretched out and huge, my belly button is no longer in the middle anymore either. :(

Has ANYBODY had any similar kind of experience? I can't find anything about anyone having so much distention for such a long amount of time. And I don't know if this laxido stuff is really going to do the job.

I'm also quite scared because its been like this for so long and I'm reading lots about increased chances of colon cancer and toxic megacolon. I can feel it all up under my ribs and my back and left hip (and bum cheek) hurt immensly from weight and pressure. If I go running it's horrible. I can feel it bounce. And also every month I come on my period the pain on the left side has just got absolutely ridiculous form everythig getting so squished.

thoughts please?

Ouch! I deal with opiate induced constipation myself so I somewhat know your pain! My best advice is to go see a specialist as soon as possible. A gastroenterologist can do tests and prescribe the appropriate laxatives to get you moving again. There is actually a new medication on the market that is specifically for opiate constipation. The best thing you can do at this point is get your Bowles working again and KEEP them working! Don't ever go more than 3 days without shitting again as it is terrible for you! As far as long term damage your risk of colon cancer is higher but if you get this under control now there is a good chance everything will heal. Again I can't stress how important it is for you to follow up with a specialist as soon as possible!

You need to go back to the doctor and have them thoroughly check out your colon and intestine. Describe everything as you have done here, including the pain and discomfort.

Doctor... NOW. Sounds like you got a horrible impaction. If you get a rupture in your intestines and that shit enters your blood stream it can kill you. Go to the ER if you have to.

Yeah you need to see doctor definitely! But in the future if you or anyone is taking opiates daily you must take a laxative. The only one that works for me is Coloxyl & Senna, they ised to give me Movicol in detox and it simply did nothing.

Also you need to exercise! I used to just sit there for days on end in the same spot on the nod, so the lack of activity made my body shut down in a way and id get so sooo constipated. It sickens me now but id regularly go like a week without shitting! Now because im still on methadone I sometimes find plenty of blood when I wipe which scares the hell out of me, but most of the time there's none. They keep saying its internal heammoriods(fuck I cant spell that lol) further up inside me but I cant help but think its possibly cancer because the last bit of waste that comes out of me is sometimes covered in blood(im so sorry to be graphic here but I feel I need to explain) which says that there's a bleed much further up but sooner or later im bound to find out. But I always try to go for a half hour walk or do some kind of physical activity for at least 30 mins(And if I drink a cup of coffee beforehand it seals the deal) and ill come homes busting to do drop the kids off at the pool! lol

It's posts like these that make me glad stimulants, psychedelics, cannabis, dissociatives and not opiates were my drugs of choice.

My g/f went through a very similar thing when we were on opiates. She would routinely go a very long time without having a bowel movement, sometimes over a week. She would claim that it was longer then that but my guess is she managed to get some pieces out when she claimed it was forever but just never had anything a normal person would consider a movement. It was so bad at times she went to a doctor and had them put a camera up there and do a special enema to clear her. There were times where we would seriously consider holding everything from her so she would go into withdrawal and force her to go before she was allowed to cure herself, it didnt get there but it did get close.

Anyway after all of that for years I was really worried about her colons health but now that we are clean and on methadone she doesnt really talk about it, which means everything is well. Actively using junkies talk about pooping way more then the average population. I would be shocked if there was a heroin user, male or female, that didnt bring it up once with their using buddies. But I think if you get it normal and keep it there you will be fine. I would see a doctor just to have someone check you out it is after all very important.

I don't doubt that she went more than a week with nothing coming out. I went 17 days once with literally no movement at all when I was on suboxone one time. A week with. A week with nothing coming out is when I start to get very nervous. It begins to impact your health around that time too.

I just had 3 surgeries for a very rare tumor in my bladder that I know is from Ketamine use. I had surgery yesterday to remove what we thought were polyps in my cervix but turned out to be the same type of tumor that was in my bladder. I also have severe bowel problems, sometimes going weeks without having a bm and when I do, (once again, sorry for TMI) it is not much and almost all blood. I know that going so long with out a BM is not good, but there are a couple of new meds out for opiod induced constipation. One just came out this last month and it is completely indicated for that-- I don't know you're insurance/financial situation, but you may be able to ask the dr for samples of it if they have it. I'd really like to know how things turn out for you and I wish you all the best!

Especially if you don't drink any water and get dehydrated or just not eat which I never, ever did when I was using heroin because all my money went on product. Obviously if theres nothing going in nothing will come out so, its really common sense.

I still get quite bad sometime now im on methadone but if I have a big shot of methamphetamine then I almost need to have the shot on the toilet. Ive used meth for that reason when no other laxatives would work. Movicol is pretty much snake oil in my opinion!

Holy shit (no pun intended, honestly) :o Go see a doctor a.s.a.p. The worst I myself had with bowels and opiates was having to put on latex gloves and go for manual removal if it'd been more then a week I think the longest time of no bowel movement for me has been like ten days. I opted for manual removal (with gloves ofcourse; else it would be even more gross :s) because I was afraid of things like, well pretty much what happened to you that sounds serious :s I by the way also had a very severe ketamine addiction in the past (average 5 grams a day every day, cut down to one or two grams every three weeks on average and my bladder healed 100%). Always drink a lot of water and keep to a diet with fibers and stuff, also, when it's been too many days take no opiates until you get far enough into withdrawal to get your bowels moving again, that's what I did sometimes. Nasty subject, but, what you describe sounds dangerous and serious and I read it can actually be dangerous I don't have sources on this but I remember reading that there have been people who needed surgical removal, it sounds like you are unfortunately past the point where you can fix it by just pulling it out with your fingers, so call your doctor right now and in the future, drink a lot of water, or do the withdrawal-to-get-things-moving and buy a box of latex gloves like just in case. Hope you'll be ok.

Quoted for truth as at the time we were really bad and she would go days without eating. It was all basically a life style thing and for a while she thought it was just her, thats how long the whole thing went on for. Once we got on methadone and she started actively caring (starting to monitor food intake to gain weight and stuff) things became almost instantly normal for her. I am guessing because like I said she doesnt bring it up and we are close enough that she would the second she thought something was wrong. I guess what I am trying to say is a lot of it is life style choices from not eating sometimes at all and being dehydrated does not help when you are on constipating medicine but as such it goes away once those things are corrected, at least in my experience.
