there are days i am fine taking my medication
but other days i have anxiety about taking it
anyone else get this way ????
i am on a very low dose of xanax try .125mg on for size lol i was on .5mg when i first started but didnt take them for a long period of time now .125mg takes the edge off for me weird right?
i limit myself and tough it out but still get anxiety about taking it

I get the same thing. Its called having "Pharmacophobia". Im also a hypochondriac. What usually happens (even and every time i take amoxicillin), i get hypochondriac thoughts of allergic reactions that spiral out into a panic attack.

Remember me freaking out about my Xanax usage? Haha.

I cant say why you only get it sometimes, maybe your more stressed out those days. I have to add though that the anxiety may be good because maybe you are limiting your usage because of the fear. I mean, you are prescribed though and should take it whenever necessary. Unless if you find withdrawals unbarable, then maybe you shouldnt. Are you also on some sort of antidepressant?

Google. "Pharmacophobia".

ahhhhh see glad you mentioned amoxicilln i actually took it once and i broke out in hives like massive hives all over my face and upper chest area my throat was actually so swollen it would be hard to breath
i ended in the ER getting massive doses of benadryl lol after a few hours i was let go and was told to take benadryl every couple of hours
the second day i again broke out in massive hives where benadryl wasnt working i ended up in the ER i assume given a bigger dose of benadryl i was flying high to say the least
lasted 4 days the first 2 were the most horrible hmmm that is exactly why i get anxious now that i think about it haha

no i dont exp withdrawal i take such a small dose and dont take it every single day if i do never more than one dose
yes i got prescribed prozac havent taken it yet ...you can prob tell why i dont take it ha

guess i get anxiety about being dependent of it i actually flushed my prescription once due to how fed up i was quickly followed by running to get it refilled ha

Anxiety makes us think irrationally and do irrational things. I was leaving work alot due to having panic attacks there (its claustrophobic and im under constant watch by a security team). But if you run from or do something irrational to stop the panic you are actually not helping yourself. It may lead to embarrassment, but it also rewires your brain to fear that situation again because you are programming it that way. Its better to fight out the situation.

Also ask yourself....say for example: your afraid of fainting. Ask yourself..."how many times have i fainted? None. What are thr possibilities of it happening this time? More than likely rare. What would i do if i did faint? Well, id be embarrased, but I'd just wake up and still be alive. It won't kill me."

Question your anxiety. Program your brain to think rationally.

Its hard, believe me. But ive been googling alot of things. Im going for CBT and hypnotherapy and i have learned a shit ton.

dont ever google shit prob why you think you have an under lying medical condition when most likely you dont
i fucked up and googled for a long period of time

Also when i say "if you find withdrawals unbarable, then maybe you shouldn't. " i mean the thought if getting them and then coping with them (tapering). But as you said, you dont get them anyways. I know this is a harm reduction site and xanax can be lethal to withdraw from, i should've worded my thoughts better. =)

Your right, it was/is why...if that makes any sense haha. My counselor told me stop googling stuff. So i did. But i do google coping skills for anxiety and i have learned alot, even before i went to my counselor. Its what made me decide to see a counselor and not a psychiatrist. Knowledge is power when it comes to anxiety. Coping skills really can help.

This is extremely wise advice.

Google actually creates hypochondria in people who did not previously have it.

Why? People Google symptoms like "chest pain", "diarrhea", or "headache", and they quickly find the worst possible conditions with said symptoms like major heart attack, colon failure, or cerebral hemorrhage, and think that is what is happening, which then of course makes the symptoms worse, because their anxiety causes them to hyper-focus and generate more of the responses, thus it leads to a vicious cycle of fear and pain.

The reason Google shows the worst examples first, is because these generate the most Ad revenue, as just like the news uses negative and horrific shit all the time to fill stories, fear draws people in like moths to a flame.

In reality, Google is not a great tool for finding information, as 80% of the web is not even found in search engines, and many of the useful and applicable information, is buried by a mass of spam, fear-mongering shit, or just plain in-correct information.

Sadly, there's no better alternative.

Yeah I had to stop taking xanax because I would get panic attacks about withdrawal. I am a severe hypochondriac and have had all sorts of tests done.

It's probably also for legal reasons if you happen to be the .1% who thinks it's nothing and dies.
