Upper vs. Downer People

What about those of us who fall into the speedball people category..?

COMMENCE BATTLE!! jk, really. I've been thinking pretty deeply for the last few days about how interesting it is that there are some people who are affected by uppers to almost a religious extent, but it seems like these people also don't really get off that much from downers (even oxy). The opposite I've found is also true in my small, limited view of the world. Like me: I'm a downer person. Adderall, Ritalin, and even meth AND extacy are not very euphoric to me (anymore, at least lol)... but painkillers, xanax, etc... oh my, they hit me in all the right places. It has a lot to do with personality, I'm sure... but I also think it may have a whole lot more to do with genetic make-up, general brain chemistry, etc... really interesting to think about. Has anyone else found this phenomenon, although seemingly mundane, to be extremely curious and interesting?
My experience has been exactly the same. The only reason I mess with uppers (not including MDMA) is to get a rush and euphoria to enhance my opiate/benzo buzz.

I do love a speedball, most def my favorite drug combo, but at the end of the day I'll take pure Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, Morphine, Heroin, Fentanyl...

Yes, some opiates/oids, especially Oxycodone or Buprenorphine can have stimulating effects. But overall, they are without question downers. CNS Depression aside, these drugs ease tension in your body and your mind, putting you into a very relaxed state. Opiates can most definitely be motivating, and I have also spent a night not sleeping because I felt too good to waste my opiate high. but that is where their stimulating properties stop. Ultimately they are a "downer".

Downers relax and/or sedate you
Uppers stimulate and/or excite you

I suppose the crash has a lot to do with it, 6 hours on Morphine leaves me relaxed and content, 6 hours on coke gives me a comedown from Hell.

Fav combo:
2pts of meth + 30mg of morphine
2pts of meth + 18mg hydromorphone

Does it make me. Upp or down guy?

I love how people say they can not understand how other people would get addicted to stimulants and then 10 years later they find themselves scraping invisible cocaine particles from the floor.

If you think MDMA is not euphoric, then you have clearly never injected it. MDMA being a billion times as euphoric as Heroin or Cocaine is something that just isn't debatable.

EDIT: Oops. This is an old thread. I blame google.

Historically, I've had a preference for depressants, nodding out on opiate/benzo combos is my Nirvana.
However, as many garbled posts I've made on this very site can attest to, I also love my stimulants.
2 entirely different realms of euphoria, really. Though blasting off on a stimulant to fight through a heavy nod is... perfection. <3

I like uppers because I like getting shit done. I'm a workaholic with a lot of hobbies as well. Don't like being tired. I do like some brews with my stimulants.

I like uppers because for some reason they relax me while giving me motivation at the same time.

Downers really make me feel weirded out and sick.

Well, I absolutely love mixing uppers and downers - meth and heroin, to be exact.

Heroin is my preferred drug. But I could always use a few hits of meth to round me out.

I don't exactly enjoy meth by itself as I get too anxious.

I really really like uppers. Like its my new shit.

I used to be bad on heroin, so don't even fuck with the shit anymore. It's around me,and I don't care.

Well put, although I do indulge in stims and cocaine (preferably IV).

It's always nice to avoid a comedown. That's why I prefer to indulge in stims with opioids/benzos to comedown w.

Upper all the way.

Does this not turn you on??

That aint shake n bake lol.

I enjoy uppers only with a small dosed bennie as my body doesn't react well to over-stimulation. I enjoy XR stims and Oral Cocaine but nothing else.

I'm a downer guy. Bennies and Opies are chill br0.

I like uppers, done amphetamines more than a few times, it felt good I wont deny, energetic, alert, powerful, it's a good feeling. But at the end of the high and the crappy crash, I could easily just stop and not do it again for a long time.

Opiates on the other hand, it was love at first sight, nodding out and just lying in the ground or in bed going in and out of sleep feeling all warm and content and safe. That is heaven on earth for me. I'll do it once and be unable to stop. Benzos are good too from time to time. Been drunk more times than I can count. I can do most drugs and then stop for extended periods of time without desperately trying to get more. But give me some heroin, and I'm a full on junkie. Tobacco is the only other drug I have so much trouble stopping myself with. I like other drugs a lot, but those two I just wanna do every day all day until the choice stops being mine. I might have a much harder time stopping uppers if I had nothing else to get me high. But it's not my drug of choice.

used to nearly only downers now both but more upper since ethylphenidate use
