It's incredible how otherwise intelligent people can regress to the middle ages as soon as religion is debated. I have a very good friend who happens to be a Muslim. He's a multilingual scientist and quite respected in his field. He's all about quarks and electrons, matter, gravity, conservation of energy, etc, but he also believes the Qur'an to the letter. His views on women, slaughtering of animals, drinking alcohol and eating pork come straight from the dark ages.

I find this absolutely incredible and very sad, considering his professional career. He's a man of science, except where science contradicts his holy book. Under these circumstances, modern science is wrong and 1400 year old thinking prevails.

Sadly such is the beast of organised religion. IMO the only difference between organised religion and a cult are the number of members and the number of years it's been around. Different monkey, Same circus.

Sadly the former can be far more detrimental than the latter on the sheer scale of things.

Something is not right and it's worrying me slightly..I have had flu and probably tonsillitis for several days now...I have been taking stupid amounts of valium and Etizolam just to keep me in a fug of not having to be awake enough to deal with it..also a few tramadol..glugs of cough medicine andooh yep a few zapain on top..yep kids not exactly harm reduction in action.

This morning sick of feeling like a zombie..I necked a fair half of (an admittedly pretty old) bit coin ...now it was from a batch that had been tried and tested and the last taken with friends about 6 weeks ago and they were as strong as ever...HOWEVER...my eyes went pin pricks..I felt a bit sick..slight wooshy feeling that last about 15 mins....and that was that..so I banged an amitriptaline and went back to sleep. Yes I am an idiot for mixing shit and god knows what I thought half a pill with morning coffee would achieve but since my mepth and speed supplies have dried up I just wanted to feel something 'other'..Oh I don't fucking know..am I broken?

Any way Scotchmist I regret hugely sleeping away today and not getting this thing I wanted you to have in the post in time..I am a shit friend..but if you are reading this I just want you to know I am thinking of you...I am extremely proud of you and I wish nothing but the best for you and what you are choosing to do to get a life that you like and have chosen for the better back.

I worry about you to be honest. Be careful of mixing serotonin combos as it could lead to serotonin syndrome which could put you in hospital. I think that Tramadol has a serotonin componant to it.

My point was that every time I mention my faith in Christianity I don't seem why I should have to constantly defend it like it's something I should be ashamed of. I don't go to an athiest n challenge their belief system - I respect it.

And yeah I go to the mods if the rules are broken just like others do on here otherwise what's the point in having the BLUA?

I should be allowed to mention being a christian without being belittled or questioned like I'm "wrong."

No one is "wrong" there are just many different belief systems n I try to respect them. Now if it was a theological debate then yea fine challenge it that's all good.

I respect that a lot of you on here are atheists I don't challenge / mock / try to change it - I respect it because it's people's belief systems which are part of them.

Can someone please link me to the BLUA? I can never find the thing n would like to study it. All I'm asking is that I'm allowed to bring up being a Christian now n again without being made to feel bad for it. If I tried ramming Christianity down people's throats the way atheists try ramming atheism down Christians' throats you'd all have a lot to say on the matter.

Did just say 120 inches? As in 10 feet? As in 3 metres?

That's bigger than both my downstairs windows put together!

Just looked it up and it seems that actually I've just been a typical bloke (which is unusual for me) and exaggerated the size a bit. It's actually a 100" screen, not 120" (that's the 4:3 diagonal measurement).

This is what I'm using anyway. You have to make compromises when you don't own your own property. I'd love to project onto a fixed screen on a wall, because with this set up you have to accept that parts of the screen will be out of focus. I still think this is better than the tripod and hanging down sort portable projector screen though.

I'm no longer religious in either the traditional sense nor the mental illness sense, though the latter's embers remain red.

I do often have a strong belief in the Blessed Virgin watching over me at night, however. I'm not averse to thanking the appropriate Archangel for a warm breeze or a break in the clouds, I have adored every station of the Sun, and I believe in a lot of the romantic and masochistic stuff too. I can live without a large part of the dogma, not to mention the baggage. Good symbolism.

It's a shame GL isn't here to put it succinctly, but she's a right laugh, she finds me funny too, and we act out some bizarre role play of some beleaguered couple during the hard times. That last bit is my fault, but it's harmless.

We do have conversations, but nothing racy I'm afraid. As has been mentioned, we both have interests elsewhere. I'm certainly involved with somebody else.

It's all fun.

Genuine affection may rear its head from time to time but it's a sweet and platonic kinda thing.

Lovely day here, come to visit me parents for the weekend so we've set ourselves up in the garden with weed and booze, is amazing being able to sit outside without people screaming and shouting and doing god knows what. Quiet as hell here

Aye just heard about that, did sound quite bad. Mate saw it apparently, or was close enough to hear all the commotion at least. Whenever stuff happens in this neck of the woods it always seems to be awful or ridiculous or both.

Given up on outside now, relocated to the...idk, spare living room or whatever to play battleshots and absorb sunlight without the awful fucking wind tearing everything up
