Hello everyone,

4 months ago I had a pimple looking thing on my elbow that got somewhat sore after several days so I popped it in my ignorance thinking it would help. We'll long story short it ended up getting very infected causing severe pain and very high doses of antibiotics. They never sent out a lab test so all we know is it was a skin infection of unknown origin or cause.

Well 2 days ago I noticed a very similar bump on my other elbow! It's fairly small and I'm not going to squeeze or pop it to cause what happened last time to repeat itself. Right now I assume it has to be a minor skin infection because you don't just get pimples on your elbow. It's small with a white head and small amount of redness around it. My point is it's very early and may heal itself if I don't irritate it; however, I would like to be proactive and do whatever I can to help it heal. I was looking for suggestions of ointments, supplements, anything I can try! Last time was very scary and required surgery to remove it after it got so bad. I really don't want that to happen and I don't want to take antibiotics. Help me fix this thing guys!!

Thanks in advance.

Usually when you actually get SERIOUS infections antibiotics are necessary but you might be able to get away with an ointment.

If you can afford it I would go to see a dermatologist and see if you can get an ointment or two, especially a STEROID Ointment.

I recently used a steroid ointment when I had a staph infection and it really helped but I also had to take oral anti biotics with it.

On the other side of things, I think you need to consider where you are getting these staph infections cause you don't want them to occur again and if you can prevent getting them again you wont need to worry about antibiotics.

Not that that helps you with this one, but it will help it to never happen again.

Do you shower enough??

Do you use dirty needles or maybe you do sports and don't always shower immediately right after?

You should ALWAYS shower right after doing sports or having any kind of skin contact with someone else cause if sweat stays on your body it can cause infections and ring worm etc.

There is a soap that kills staph BEFORE you get it (won't cure it once you have it)...it's called HIBICLENS and you can get it over the counter at any drug store without prescription.

It's the best soap on the market for killing staph and if you are ever in contact with anything seriously dirty or suspicious or have an open cut that could get infected or a pimple that pops or whatever scrub that shit with HIBICLENS for a full 3 minutes and then rinse with warm water and do it regularly and keep that shit bandaged and you should be safer from infection.

Wash your clothes right away too after they get sweaty.

I do a lot of contact sports like Jiu-Jitsu and wrestling and this stuff is important cause infections like MRSA are out there and they can kill.

Also, black walnut oil can help your immune system fight of fungus like ring worm, but not staph.

Thanks for the replies. I know that if it becomes a slightly serious infection it will require antibiotics but I'm hoping that since right now it is literally a pimple sized thing with no pain or irritation that if there's something I can do to ensure it doesn't become more then that's what I want to do.

As for the cause, I'm not sure but the same thing crossed my mind. I'm generally a healthy person, no sports, never a needle. I used to shower twice a day but I'll admit I've been slacking lately. The only thing I can think of that targets my elbows is my dogs like to come up and lick my elbow while I'm on the computer. So I'll try to prevent that.

Now that this most likely minor staph infection is there under the surface will a regular antibiotic ointment have any affect?

I don't know if an antibiotic ointment will be enough, I'm not a doctor.

I'd go see a doctor or dermatologist if you can afford it, if not maybe someone here knows more than me.

But if your dog licks your elbows I bet that's where you got it from cause dogs have really dirty mouths.

I'd recommend you wash yourself right after your dog licks you, preferably with HIBICLENS which you should go by, but then again I know how often dogs lick people and he probably licks you a million times a day so running to wash off every spot he licks you as soon as he does would probably have you washing yourself all day long lol.

So yeah, I'm not sure what to recommend other than trying to wash yourself sometimes after he licks you if it's possible.

Sometimes shit like that is just going to happen regardless though I guess cause we can't be 100% clean all the time.
