Anyone here in business?
So I set up a business with my friend and today we had a meeting with a multi millionaire who quite literally begged us to allow him to invest. It dawned on me how much of a buzz I get I get from going head to head with directors and negotiating is amazing! Does anyone relate to this? Maybe it's just me?

Nah, can't relate to that at all mate. Unfortunately, ime 'business' is dominated by academically challenged gobshites who enjoy walking all over and exploiting others for their own personal gain (this no doubt is the reason I live in a shitty house in a shitty town with a shitty job :( ). No offense meant to yourself btw and I really hope things work out for you, but personally the whole concept leaves me cold (I was even crap at selling drugs fer christsake
.)
..

I used to run my own successful business till age knocked me out of the market.

It was usually pretty profitable, depending on the client's quirks, but far too often dangerous.

I'm a welder. Left school at 16 no qualifications just hard hard graft... BUT seen a chance for a better life and grasped it. I know what you mean about the 'types' in business but what I'm doing will indirectly benefit a huge chunk of the population

I know the sort of business you mean! I was involved till a friend was shot and killed in Salford.... Realised I am better at the welding than having to dodge bullets!

Good on you mate, hope it's a success :) I believe there are 3 main personality traits necessary to become a successful businessman: confidence, motivation and the gift of the gab - of which I possess none. This naturally alienates me from that character type and any chance of personal success :(

There's hope for me yet then... You're not me in a parallel universe are you??

Only you're the one who succeeds and i remain a loser

Who on here knows me?

No one, that's the beauty of forums anonymity.

Also I haven't named my company, or the other director, not any of the people even bound in NDA's

I was flown down to sydney Thursday night and taken to the sangri la rooftop top bar where i was wined and dined whilst over looking the opera house to negotiate my new contract. Well strictly speaking I was wined as the kitchen closed before we could order food, so we rolled that company credit card to a famous Chinese restaurant just after midnight and continued negotiations until 2am. 3 hours sleep later I was in head office listening to HR, marketing and finance departments start to realise that they needed me more than I needed them. It was a little like this......

except I am less likely to be profiled by police than Cuba Gooding Jr as I drive my car.

In five weeks time my partner's employer is flying us to Barcelona so we can sail for a week around the Mediterranean.

On occasions we actually have to show up to work and make them a profit.
