So, as previously stated, I'm new to the forum & in need of advice pertaining to an adderall dependency. I take a reasonable dose (via prescription) for work purposes but have been re-dosing after work for the past few months. Doing so has done nothing but cause problems in every area of my life. Friendships have suffered as well as my relationship, my sense of self worth diminished, & I'm feeling more & more guilty for allowing a reasonable assistant to grow into a full-blown crutch. That being said, I've tried many nights to the sensible thing & just not re-dose but have found that I look for exudes to do so anyway. Bottom line- I need help. I do not want to enter a rehab program (I have a job to keep as well as a family that needs me). I truly am looking for advice to control my cravings. I've interrupted my sleep schedule to the point where I'm basically nocturnal & I've finally come to realize that there is no benefit from the second dose, save for the mental satisfaction. Can anyone help me?

I have been to addicted to adderall and it fucked my life in the ways you are talking about. I quit because I couldn't get anymore and it was hell, but not nearly as bad as other withdrawals. Do ypu have access to benzos? You may want to take a low dose valium for awhile at night. You probably should tell your dr you want off the adderall

I would suggest you to go see a doctor first. You may want to address this so that exams can be made and your life can go on normally. Maybe, depending on the doctor, you could be really honest about your problem and see if you may get some help with the appropriate medication.
For now try not to use it and I suggest you decrease it as much as you can. This medication has strong side effects and may do harm to your hart system, so please search for medical advice.

great advice.

you should talk to a doctor about it...

also, you don't seem to be binging or taking them all day long so i'm thinking your dose isn't too high? interrupted sleep schedules and other effects are usually just normal side effects of the medication being taken even in prescribed, therapeutic doses. maybe you would be better with a longer lasting medication of the same sort, a prodrug, Vyvanse... look it up!!! you may really benefit from something longer lasting and ''smoother'' with less side effects such as Vyvanse.

it may be a stretch to say it but I'm gonna go ahead and try to say, maybe you've made it into a bigger problem than it really is? and i'm not saying you're not having issues or passing them off as unimportant (basically no offense intended of course. just stating some opinions and ideas.) could it be that the side effect of anxiety has taken over and made this all seem very intense and unmanageable to you?

you're probably better off than most with this drug as some people take it all day every day and can't open their eyes or move to get out of bed without it. i would hope your situation doesn't turn into this.

it's good to be aware and i'm glad you are, and glad you came to BL for help and advice. you're already way gutsier and ahead of a lot of people.

well these are just my personal thoughts. i hope you feel better and get to a point where you feel things are less intense. and another thing, maybe the drug isn't entirely all to blame for certain circumstances that have manifested while you have been taking it. it's probably a factor of a couple things. can't say for sure and i don.t know what doses you're taking so this is all just me thinking outloud and using my own experience with stimulants, adderall and whatnot for over five years. also, a lot of the things here depend on what you are using the adderall for, if it's a script, if you have legitimate ADD or ADHD...

keep us posted and stay strong, stay hydrated, try mindful breathing often, take your vitamins and look into cognitive supplements like omega oils and nootropics. also.... Vyvanse. really helped turn my adderall use into something way more efficient and less harmful and anxious.
