Yeah shit sucks man. At a McDonalds using WiFi right Now trying to not freeze my ass off. They kicked me out cause they found out I was using heroin in there...fuck do I regret it now. Close to giving up . anyways just had to share that...feel like I'm going crazy plus I'm withdrawing horribly.

I will never understand getting kicked out of rehab for doing drugs. It's like no shit I have a drug problem that's why I'm here! Sorry your caught up in this bullshit man.

Sorry you are so up agsinst it rite now.

If you want to share what city your in maybe people can share resources they have used or know of.

Libraries are warm during the day and have wifi to look up resorces.

Hit up emergency food stamps. Churches often help out people who find themsefs in very rough places.

Malls, the dmv is usually busy as hell and warm.

Keep your chin up. Have to beet the addiction. AA and NA meetings run all day in warm rooms in many places. Even if your not into it its often a place you can get warm and get some coffie.

Hit up goodwill and get some warm clothes.

Stay safe and check in here when you can.

There is a thread that has tons of contact information for sources for aid and I will track it down when im able.

Dont give up!

I would have thought that the reasons they kick people out are pretty obvious really. A rehab full of people using drugs isn't a very good environment for people trying to stay clean and when you have limited space you need to give the help to those who are willing to take it.

Well that begs the question of choice vs disease doesn't it? Statistically speaking 95 percent of there clients relapse in the first year. Most in the first week. So are 95 percent of the clients in the wrong or is the treatment completely worthless for most? Well who do you think the treatment center is going to pin the blame on? It's easy to shit on the already stigmatized and these places have tons of practice at it.

You're right it does beg that question. I don't believe in the 'disease model' of addiction myself really (although I don't mind people using that word or 'illness' to describe the condition at all), certainly once you are clean and detoxed that shit goes right back to being a choice. I can buy that when in the throes of active addiction or when you are detoxing then there is certainly an element of your choice being removed, although I would question even that for lots of drugs. The situation might make that choice a lot harder but it's still a choice. I say that as someone who has detoxed from dependance causing drugs (as well as having been psychologically addicted to a number of non-dependance forming drugs as well) and relapsed again many many times. Like pathetically shit attempts at getting clean over and over and over.

I would say the more important question would be why the fuck would you bother going to a rehab where 95% relapse within a year and most during the first week unless it's for legal reasons? They're clearly a bunch of jokers with no real skill in rehabilitating people, why would you get involved with a project like that? There are plenty about with much better success rates.

Clearly you can't run a rehab where you are allowing people to use though, I don't see how you can question that really. You have to make the utilitarian decision and that is to create as drug free an atmosphere as possible, it might mean losing some people who need help but it will allow you help those who remain better and there is always another person to fill the space vacated.

All just my opinion of course...

Anyway, I'm not looking to hijack matey's thread here. This is not really productive discussion, or rather not the appropriate place for such rambling. Sorry TT! I hope you haven't given up and are managing to stay strong.
