Hey guys im new to this fourm but ive been lurking for a few months, seeking answers ive decided to join.

I spoke to my cat the other day and he told me a very interesting story, he told me that he has recently been taking Ethylphenidate for a period of about 3 months,(since his girlfriend cat) doesn't agree with illegal catnip. He told me hes living this alter ego where his "girlfriend cat" doesn't know about what hes doing and all his friend cats and her friends know, because they like the same catnip, Heres the Problem He Told me, hes introduced a few friends to his new catnip, and after about 1 75mg sniffs of catnip they seem to be really happy, (to the point of being scared of having to much). Wheres as my cat, we will call him "tom" says he takes 450mg doses regulary, on a night out in the cat pen its not uncommon for tom( 4/7 nights of the week) to take upwards of 3.500mg and he feels fine, he says 75mg catnips dont touch him, hes worried that his tolerance is way to high and hes already extremely addicted to the catnip. he told me he cant go more than 2 days with out a blow out, and its putting tension on his love life and family,( they dont know, but can figure somethings up, he told me hes also lost two jobs because of his catnip abuse)

he says he doesnt want to ruin his life but he says he doesnt see it as a problem because when it matters hes there and its more of a past time, Toms just stoped talking and went out for a walk, hes asked me to look back to see if any one has any advice to help him in his situation

any information about, tolerance, addiction, help anything along those lines, im sure my cat would appreciate.

He also says that hes using about 4 0z of catnip monthly. and if this is in the wrong section would some one move it to the correct area.

Hi "Whystart..",
We don't us e "my cat" or SWIM or anything like that on BL, it provides no legal protection whatsoever, and just makes things complicated to understand, so you can refer to "your cat " as "i" ;)

As for your situation, you definately have a strong psychological dependance to EPH (ethylphenidate), your tolerance is sky high... "Luckily" it's not a physical addiction at all, so you can stop, it will take a few days to re-adapt to producing dopamine naturally, so replacing with lot's of sport and sex will help...

What do u do? work? uni? school? Is rehab an option? how old are you?

If you are serious about quitting you need to quit going out with your EPH buddies, so stop going out pretty much alltogether for a while, give your brain a break doing a pleasant relaxing hobby.

Come clean with your GP about your problem, see if he/she can get you to see an addiction specialist fast, don't count on your GP having the knowledge to help much, they are not trained for this sort of situation....

It can be done, i would think cold turkey is the way to go with EPH addiction, as tapering will just drag out the withdrawal sypmtoms (bad mood, fatigue and more, allthough nothing severe like opiates or life threatening like booze or benzos...)

Best of luck to ya!

This is really skyrocket tolerance. How is your blood pressure / pulse when on and off EPH?

What might work, at least it does for me, is an NMDA antagonist - best choice by prescription is memantine. Or you could try OTC dextromethorphan in low dosages (20-50mg). Don't know how this behaves when you already have high tolerance, but it's maybe the only solution to keep dopaminergic stimulants working over long time. And DXM potentiates stims by itself.

For quitting or tapering down, sleep aids are always a good thing. Doxylamine, diphenhydramine are OTC or if you can get prescriptions, clonidine is the best as it lowers norepinephrine and allows our heart to rest.. also helps with some withdrawal signs.

I'm sorry but what the fuck are you on about OP? You do realise how boring it is to accurately digest the nonsensical information hidden within all of that anonymity nonsense?

Read the BL rules and repost your question.

Okay i wasn't too sure on the anonymousness. I Work as an offshore worker(oil rigs) which I work a regular Two weeks away then two weeks home. I dont feel that i have to take it as i manage fine for my two weeks away just the first day of cold turkey is a little depressing. After that im fine. Just when I'm at home have the house to my self i get into the situation where im bored and with out anything else to il start on the eph, I can come off it easy enough and the only side effects i feel are, Sweating (only when on the comedown) but a 300-400mg counters that. Ive only once experienced paranoia. Typically what Ide do is binge on it for a few days (partys) home alone ect. And when ive decided i need to appear like a reasonable human. I would just lower my doses every time i hit the comedown from 350 mg losing 50-100mg every dose until im at about 50mg doses by then i haven't slept for usually 48 hours and i just sleep, when i wake up im fine. Rehab isnt an option as this is kind of like a double life and too many people i know would be shocked /hurt. Ide find it more beneficial to hide it. Or go another route. Im curious, with my tolerance being so high, is it a really high risk danger of causing my self bad harm, My blood pressure seems to be fine and my heart rate only slightly raises for about 20 mins and i feel it slow back down and relax.

When im at home i often work for a chef agency on land, and because Ive used it for so long it feels pretty normal to be on it most the time, I can work a full 12 hour shift, out of it on eph (people cant tell) once i was questioned about slight bloodshot eyes but i told my boss it was the onions i was cutting so my excuse passed, since then I've never worked under the influence.

I dont really get the bad side effects that ive read about, it often motivates me to exercise (lost over a stone but gained about 1.5back in muscle mass) and it gives me the patience for reading and writing things. As well as a nice euphoric feeling similar to weak 4mmc or bad mdma.

I think because its legaly available, and i enjoy it so much thats my problem.( its like my substitute to 4mmc) I confided this to a close friend, and she recommended that i join the army and get my self out of the place I'm in.

if i were to join the army starting salarys about £17000 a year for 12 months work
working the carer i have i earn £42000 (6 months work) i get half the year off( 2 weeks work 2 weeks home)from the offshore company and approx £9600 from the onshore agency.
It would be a big set back as i would also have to support my partner and my son if i were to relocate.

Hope its easier to understand now that the anonymity issues are cleared up.

If you are so functional on eph and nobody can tell. How come you were let go from two jobs?

Best just to stop using now. Since it's easy for you to do so.

I got let go from one because i stupidly supplied it to a guy i didnt really know, turns out he knew my boss, and my boss said He couldnt have me working for him.
and the second was mostly due to attendance (iritable bowl syndrome) and a few night on eph ( my own fault really.

Something to remember: stimulants never get more effective over time... only less.

It sounds like you need to just drop the stuff cold turkey. Taking 3grams+ of ritalin analogues is going to be killer on your blood pressure and mental health.

Sorry about your IBS.
I find that avoiding trigger foods, and taking Imodium and Buscopan really helps. Buscopan is available both OTC or prescribed (if you have coverage, scripts would be cheaper). It reduces intestinal spasms. If you've never tried it, you might want to give it a go.
