I have quite a few spiritual friends, as am I, but for some reason, every singing bowl I've heard just seems to hurt my ears.

I'm aware that each frequency is tuned differently, and also apparently parallel to chakra energy depending on the vibration. I don't understand how it works, it's supposed to be meditative, but not a single one I've listened to felt good.

Just wondering if anyone experiences this, or has some kind of explanation as to why that happens to me. I know my ears are generally sensitive to certain sounds so that might just be it, but I feel there's a deeper meaning behind it....

The resonance is pretty annoying to me personally. Maybe we're using the wrong size bowls or something?

I prefer the tibetan bells to be honest, that's more pleasant.

It could be because your chakras are whacked out. But I have no idea.

How long do your sessions last? My first (and only) experience with these bowls was quite different. It was for an East/West Synthesis class and nearly everyone in the room was a bit skeptical, some much more than others.

The sounds of the bowls went on for a good half hour-45 minutes in almost complete darkness and even the most skeptical people in the room were surprised by the experience. It was sort of unpleasant at first, just a piercing ringing sensation in my ear, but as time went on it became very meditative.

TBH, not very long, though my roomie has one and she uses it, I can hear it from her room. And I have friends with them too that like to sit around and use them. I guess they're just not for me, I friggin' love the sound of a Didgeridoo though!!
