I know this is kinda outta left field but I just ordered these really good multi-vitamins from a website and was looking up the ingredients in the multi-vitamin, one of the ingredients was something called "Hesperidin" and when i looked it up on wikipedia it said this: "In vitro and in laboratory research, hesperidin has anti-inflammatory effects.[8][9] Hesperidin is also a potential sedative, possibly acting through opioid or adenosine receptors." which made me kinda think is there anything to this stuff as they do offer it in pure form from other companies... Just wondering that is all..let me know if any of you guys know anything about it or can find out anything about and why it would be a multi-vitamin. thanx

Unlikely, it looks like some sort of luteolin glycoside, it could have minor affinity for the benzodiazepine receptors, or it could be an adenosine agonist or reuptake inhibitor. Practically every chemical and his mother are adenosine reuptake inhibitors (meprobamate, benzodiazepines, alcohol, even vinegar.)

So what would be the benefit/point of it being in my multivitamin, its got 5mgs per dose... Does Hesperidin have some supposed health benefit to it?

Hesperidin is a flavonoid found in citrus fruits.

Generally, citrus flavonoids are known to increase the availability of vitamin C.

After all, bluelighters doooo love their synergism... ;)

Right on, this multivitamin I just got is one of those nice expensive ones with all the right forms of the vitamins and minerals (chelated and what not) + a bunch of other amino acids and stuff like Hesperidin in it... Hopefully this multivitamin is as good as the reviews say it is.. Also got some Chelated Magnesium, Omega-3 Fish Oil (the good stuff: natural triglycerides) and a Kava tincture...

So it basically helps the bioavailability of Vitamin C or does something else with helping breaking it down or something??
